We have no idea, apart from all the rumours/leaks, some of which are probably going to be accurate

That's not really the point though. For some of us that have been keeping up with all these rumors yes, but even still we know very little. I've followed every piece of news and I still feel like we know nothing.

Mainly the point is with the PT we knew what was going to happen. To quote the article:

We knew a bit about the new characters too. Qui-Gon Jinn was a Jedi, Darth Maul was a bad guy, etc. We even knew what was going to happen. Eventually, Anakin Skywalker was going to become a Jedi, fight in the Clone Wars, get married, have kids and become Darth Vader. That’s a lot of story that – going into the first movie – we already knew.

I think they are referring to the trajectory of the trilogy. We have no real clue of where the story will be or where our characters will be by the end of Episode IX. Unlike with the prequels which we knew how it would end.

True, although I was 7 so I didn't know all that apart from Anakin would become Vader and have kids at some point. But yeah we knew the overall arc of the 3 films.

You're right. I haven't the foggiest clue where the ST is headed. The clues we have so far don't really help piece together the trilogy's plot. We can barely guess at TFA's plot.

That's what makes this way more interesting than TPM to me as well.

Imagine if we would have gotten three lackluster sequels in '99, '02, and '05. I wonder what the state of the Star Wars franchise would be now.
