London Has Fallen, the sequel to 2013s Olympus Has Fallen, is moving to a 2016 release date.
The action thriller had been set to open on Oct. 2, where it faced competition from new releases like Foxs The Martian and Sonys The Walk. Gramercy Pictures, Focus Features genre label, announced Friday that it is shifting Londons opening to Jan. 22, 2016.
I think that is the first movie poster I've seem that literally spells out which movie it is a sequel to.
So why is Eckhart and Freeman still starring? I would have thought they'd get a big British name for the PM or something.
The story picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has died under mysterious circumstances and his funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. What starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the President of the United States of America Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart), his formidable Secret Service lead agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), and a British MI6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one.
So Millennium Films have LHF, The Mechanic 2 and Criminal out on the same day? Good work Avi.
Charlotte Riley? That's a cool choice. Hopefully they avoid the cliché of "we're going to pretend that she's strong/competent, but she's really not." Action films have a tendency to do that.
LHF will win. although I think they're waiting a little to long to put LHF out.
One of those movies will move though. That's just bad business
I personally don't give a crap about Mechanic 2 (I don't think anyone else does either) and I never even heard about Criminal untl you mentioned it

Who asked for this? Well at least he's not in some romcom with Katherine Heigl...
