'London Has Fallen' Moving to 2016 Release Date http://thr.cm/7YYmXl

London Has Fallen, the sequel to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen, is moving to a 2016 release date.

The action thriller had been set to open on Oct. 2, where it faced competition from new releases like Fox’s The Martian and Sony’s The Walk. Gramercy Pictures, Focus Features’ genre label, announced Friday that it is shifting London’s opening to Jan. 22, 2016.

Boo-urns.

But that should easily outdo what American Sniper did this year. :cwink:

I think that is the first movie poster I've seem that literally spells out which movie it is a sequel to.

They usually do something like that for airport thriller novels. "The blistering new Nick Stone thriller!" But that's certainly a first for a movie.

So why is Eckhart and Freeman still starring? I would have thought they'd get a big British name for the PM or something.

They probably will. It'll probably be Eckhart, or Freeman, or both, are friends/colleagues with the British PM. And they come to London with Butler to attend an event, and then all Hell breaks loose.

So Millennium Films have LHF, The Mechanic 2 and Criminal out on the same day? Good work Avi.

The Prime Minister is dead.

The story picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has died under mysterious circumstances and his funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. What starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the President of the United States of America Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart), his formidable Secret Service lead agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), and a British MI6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one.

Charlotte Riley? That's a cool choice. Hopefully they avoid the cliché of "we're going to pretend that she's strong/competent, but she's really not." Action films have a tendency to do that.

LHF will win. although I think they're waiting a little to long to put LHF out.

One of those movies will move though. That's just bad business

I personally don't give a crap about Mechanic 2 (I don't think anyone else does either) and I never even heard about Criminal untl you mentioned it

She is. She had a small role in Edge of Tomorrow, playing an American, and she was a hoot to watch.

Two of those movies will move, I'm guessing LHF again, probably to March, because that's when the first one made bank.

Mechanic 2 has some kind of hotshot German action director making his English debut and Jason Statham fighting Michelle Yeoh. Criminal is pretty stacked casting wise too. So actually the B-action circles are pretty interested in all three.

How is the first still of a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, not someone being stabbed in the head?

Who asked for this? Well at least he's not in some romcom with Katherine Heigl...

Looks bad-ass. I hope they make more movies after this one.

I want to believe you. :(

:oldrazz:

Charlotte Riley was good on the second season of Peaky Blinders. Nice to see her career starting to pick up a little. Maybe she can follow her husband and break into higher-profile international stuff after this.

You know it's serious when Freeman is staring at screens in shock.
