I felt the same about the characters. To me, going back to stuff like classic Tenchu and Metal Gear iare a good example. Sekiro handled it better, even as it wasn't the game's main mechanic. Stealth needs to be a legit alternative with obvious benefits, while at the same time legit falling to pieces when it goes wrong. There is no reason to play stealth in Ghost. Ghost overpowers you, allowing you to just drop a smoke bomb once things go badly, and sneak back into stealth, without much hassle. Not that you would though because, you are way overpowered. No real consequence to open battle.
