Playstation Ghost Of Tsushima

This looks like the Japanese Assassins Creed that Ubisoft never wanted to give us.

Looks like a clone of a typical Ubisoft game. I don't play Ubi games, so this one isn't for me either.

Doesn't look like a GOTY contender.

yes. just finished a few minutes ago.

Loved every second. The game looks beautiful, the combat brutal, outfit customization, exploration. It has everything I enjoy in a game.

It looks beautiful.

The gameplay reminds me of what an assassin's Creed would be like if it features Japan and its also reminding me of Horizon Zero Dawn and thats a good thing. The graphics though don't look very Ubisoft to me. This one looks way more artsy to me compare to a Ubisoft game.

I hope it's good. From the first teaser, I listed it right away in my wishlist.

I saw the game play video when i was at work on just my phone and even on my phone it looked good. Just watched it a second time and i am already in love with the music just sounds so good and the details in the game are just out of this world. Crazy how good the graphics are and looks like there is going to be a lot to this game. I get some zelda botw vibes to with the world.

I also just saw these good details. Some interesting things to know.

Exploration

  • Open world map with no real waypoints.

  • There will be several different ways for the game to guide you.

  • The wind can literally guide you. You will be able to press a button at any time to summon the "guiding wind."

  • Small birds will appear along side you to guide you to points of interest.

  • Foxes will show you the way to shrines and other neat places.

  • There are smokestacks and bonfires around the map to show you where people are that could use your help.

  • Shrines will give you extra charm points that can be used to upgrade Jin.
Gameplay

Samurai: Looks to be the basic, honorable samurai.

  • Will be able to challenge enemies to a Samurai Showdown where you can basically wait for one side to make the first move.

  • The focus will be on being efficient with combat. You do not want to waste any energy.

  • Jin will flick his sword to remove the blood before he re-sheathes it.
Ghost: Will be the more stealth based approach.

  • Assignations will be key.

  • Fireworks and smokebombs can be used for distraction and obscuring your movement.

  • Kunai can be used for quick, ranged kills.

  • Jin will have a grappling hook to reach places as well as cross gaps. (Unknown if this is only for Ghost gameplay.)
Customization

Customization is not just cosmetic.

  • You will be able to collect charms to give your outfit mechanical upgrades. (No specifics given yet.)

  • Flowers across the map will allow you to customize the color of your outfit. (Probably just cosmetic.)
*Special modes'

Japanese Voice Over: Will be an option before you load the first scene. So if you want that experience from the beginning, you will have it!

Samurai Cinema: A special filter that makes the game black and white with wind constantly blowing, along with a film grain to mimic the old samurai films. They want the game to have a truly cinematic look.

Photo mode: The standard options of depth of field, saturation, and such will be there, but you will also be able to control the wind direction and speed, as well as the particles flying in it

It looks like this is going to be my first game for the PS5.

This game has serious Tenchu vibes.

I'm going full Ghost, war is never won through honor. I really hope I can wear those hats with the Ghost mask.

Finally able to see this. Looks good. Animations are a bit stiff, but outside of that it looks like it could be something special. I am a sucker for samurai flicks after all. :D

It is amazing to see just how much of an impact the Witcher 3 had on game design. You can see it all over games like this, Red Dead and the new ACs.

This game is gorgeous and it Looks really good!!! But the gameplay wasn’t that interesting I don’t think it’s goty type of game unless the story and characters are really interesting but it will definitely be worth playing I love me some Samurai content

Those customisable outfits look super fun
I loved how they showed them off. The character's expression never changed, but he was going through the outfit scene from Toy Story 3. :funny:

Very hyped for this game. I saw someone mention samurai mode should just be called Kurosawa mode, which is the vibes I get from the design. I love Kurosawa and the lore behind the samurai. (Even if the reality doesn't quite measure up to the legend.)Don't know if I'll get it upon release since I have a backlog of games to get to, but I anticipate waiting for Black Friday at most. It looks gorgeous.

I was already sold on the game based on the concept and previous trailers. As such, I haven't been following the game too closely.

So, I learned quite a bit from the State of Play yesterday, which only further confirmed my interest in the game.

I also like how the State of Play was no-frills, direct, and to the point. And it delivered on its stated goal - to show off gameplay. A few other companies should make notes on that.........:o

There use to be a time where a game would be revealed with several minutes of gameplay. Now it's all about the goddamn hype machine. Ghost of Tsushima was starting to do that, but now they finally showed the good stuff.

I think there's a time and place for the cinematic/cut scene trailers and a time and place for showing actual gameplay. You have to know when to show which one.

When you advertise something as a "gameplay" event or showcase, then people naturally expect to see actual gameplay.

Honestly, I've always hated cinematic trailers, when I watch a trailer for a game I want to see the actual game, not a fancy pre-rendered cutscene that doesn't even show the game's engine.

I always look forward to there videos. I just saw this about to watch.

Guaranteed there’ll be tons though. Hopefully they don’t go overboard and have, like a boss coffee sponsored skin or something haha

I wonder if they could turn this into a new franchise ala horizon and it gets a direct sequel or if they are gonna feature a different location/protagonist for the next game ala Assassin's Creed?

I’m wondering that too. I could see new regions. I mean, he’s called ghost of Tsushima, he doesn’t necessarily have to go there every time. I guess we’ll find out.

it might be fun to have a new iconic character that we check in with every game like doomguy or master chief
