Ghost Rider Topic

Ghost Rider is one of my favourite characters, in my top 5 always and sometimes in my top 3 depending on my mood. For me he belongs on the big screen but Sony just couldnt get him right.

I dont mind the 1st movie personally, but the 2nd one was poor, and I would hope Marvel would be able to do something better with it. The problem is I dont think Marvel are willing to go dark enough. GR can be a PG-13 movie, but it would be a pretty dark one. Plus he is one of the most powerful heroes Marvel has, he is pretty much indestructable, he showed this in his fight with World War Hulk.

I hope with Marvel breaking into the supernatural side with Doc Strange means he is coming sooner or later. I hope we also someday see Kazann and Zadkiel in the movies someday, they are more modern but are 2 of the better GR bad guys IMO.

Marvel needs to do more with the Marvel Knights thing they had going with Punisher War Zone

^But not do movies of that quality. SOV was Marvel Knights as well. I am sure Marvel will give us better movies than those 2 when we eventually see GR again.

Atleast Ghost Rider himself looked much better in SOV, I must say that's my ideal Ghost Rider look.

I think the Hulk comparisons are useful. I don't really agree with it, but a lot of people say that Hulk automatically works a lot better as a member of a team than as a solo hero. I think that critique applies a lot moreso to Ghost Rider.

At this point, a solo series isn't going to happen. The brand is too toxic. But he could be an awesome scene-stealing supporting player in a Thunderbolts or Midnight Sons movie, or other team-up of darker/more supernatural anti-heroes.

Really? I didnt even think his look in SOV was very good, much preferred his look by the end of the 1st movie personally.

I dont agree with this at all, if Marvel made a good Ghost Rider movie, people would go and see it.

If Ghost Rider ended up on a Netflix show (Blade etc)

Norman Reedus anybody?

It might be best to reintroduce gr as a cameo/teamup type thing. I know a few have said avengers would be a bad movie for gr to appear in, but picture this.....The avengers are up against some major badass (insert ur choice of badass here). The avengers are getting the snot beat out of them to where they're on the verge of being wiped out. Ghost Rider appears (kindalike how he showed up in fantastic four cartoon). He too gets the snot beat out of him. Ghost Rider manages crawl his way to a already downed, but still alive, Iron Man. Ghost Rider grabs Iron Mans leg or arm or somethin and lets out a wale/roar like he did when transforming his bike in first gr film at the train station. Thus transforming Ironmans suit into a more powerful hellish version of the suit, with hellfire pulsar rays and such. Then, new repowered ironman gets up and beats the snot out of their foe.
That would be cool as hell, wether ur a ghost rider fan or not.......imho

I remember one of my favorite Dan Ketch GR arcs involved Doctor Strange and Nightmare.

I also think a great way to reintroduce the character is to have him cameo in someone else's film.

I wouldn't mind if Ghost Rider appeared in an Agents of SHIELD episode. There isn't even a need to show his human form (so they don't have to rush with casting), just have him being a wild card character, whereas SHIELD and HYDRA try to understand on whose side he's on.

I feel like Ghost Rider should be somebody who's incredibly cocky where you have Johnny blaze's reckless personality eventually influencing Zarathos. I second whoever mentioned Aaron Paul and I also really like Ryan Gosling as well. I'd like to see the main actor play both personas but through a pitch shifter when Zarathos takes over and Paul or Gosling would still very much be the uniting factor between both personas.

As far as tone goes, I feel like Ghost Rider needs an R rating and this is coming from somebody who feels that most CBMs should stay PG-13. (The only Marvel properties that can't be done on TV which require an R-rating IMO are just Blade and Ghost Rider) He's a fallen angel of vengeance who's literally powered by hellfire. It doesn't get much grittier than that. This is a series that needs graphic violence, an edgy tone and tons of horror imagery to be effective.

When looking at which solo heroes Marvel still has yet to develop, Ghost Rider and Punisher are the only two who aren't Avengers. Moon Knight, Ms Marvel, Blade, Black Panther and Darkhawk have all been Avengers at some point or another but Ghost Rider just doesn't work with the team since he's not some beloved super hero, he isn't misunderstood, he doesn't help clear traffic jams, he's literally the WRATH OF GOD INCARNATE!!! The Avengers mostly just stay out of his way while Ghost Rider fights villains who truly have it coming. Yes, he'll be part of the MCU but he's enough of a stand along hero that a film that's truly not for kids should be able to be made without affecting continuity all that much.

I'd probably use Scarecrow as the villain just so Ghost Rider can get his start fighting somebody who's a more grounded threat before moving on to supernatural villains. He's also a serial killer who disembowels people with some seriously creepy contortion abilities. He'd be great for establishing Ghost Rider's world as having this really nightmarish quality to it that's equal parts death metal and splatter film in aesthetics.

And when it comes to directors, I'd suggest the Soska Sisters. Partially since Marvel hasn't used a female director for a feature film yet, partially since they know how to put together a seriously messed up, gritty exploitation horror film, they've recently directed an upcoming indie action film and they've already signed on for a Painkiller Jane film so they have experience with CBMs. I can't think of a more perfect team to direct.

And the soundtrack should naturally be death and black metal with some Slayer, Pantera and Lamb of God thrown in. I'm thinking bands like Anaal Nathrakh, Cannibal Corpse, Emperor, Behemoth, Goat*****, etc playing in place of a real film score.

Ghost Rider vs Blade movie to reintroduce the characters and setup Midnight sons

Ghost Rider vs Blade movie to reintroduce the characters and setup Midnight sons

I'd rather have them be introduced separately. Midnight Sons can be set up post-credits where Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch show up after the film for both properties. There hasn't been a Blade film in over a decade. He needs a reboot. Plus, both Ghost Rider films in the past were terribad. There wouldn't be an audience for both in the same film.

I'd rather see Midnight Sons be like Avengers for the supernatural where Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider and Blade get their own films while Thor and scarlet Witch are members of both teams and Hellstorm and Satana are only in the Midnight Sons team-up films. Some of these characters are truly at their best when they get some time alone. And for the record, there hasn't been a Midnight Sons series for a long, long time. I don't think they're a priority.

That would be perfect!! Great idea but that would be too much like right, way too cool. They'd never do that

Marvel needs to do GR like they've decided to do the Hulk. Team him up with some other heroes or make him a supporting character, important to the plot, that comes in & out at different times, ultimately helping whoever finish up whatever he/she is doing during the climax....

The problem with GR at the moment is that all of Marvels films are going to be based in science (even Dr strange is going to be based on manipulating the laws of reality) so how do the same with Ghost rider? A flaming skeleton?

Marvel should do the Champions. Of course, they can't use Angel and Iceman, but they have Black Widow, Ghost Rider, Hercules and probably Dark Star. That team always seemed much cooler because Ghost Rider was on it and provide some kind of mystique. He was like having the Hulk on the Defenders in the comics (and in the movies, having him in the Avengers).

It could have ScarJo in the lead role, allowing her to have a Black Widow movie, but killing several birds with one stone since it would allow Ghost Rider to be in an ensemble film without having to drive the movie, and would have Hercules make his big screen debut. That team also allowed Ghost Rider to be more heroic since it was him in his early days when Johnny Blaze had more influence.

Don't know who could stand in for Iceman and Angel though.

You are still not addressing the fact that Ghost rider has no basis in science

I wasn't addressing you at all, so there's no "still not addressing" about it.

Who cares? Marvel has to branch out at some point. Dr Strange is going to explore other realities and magic. GR isn't that much of a stretch beyond that stuff.

I've noticed that al of the Dark Marvel character's have been left alone. I think a Punisher, Moon Knight, Blade, and Ghost Rider combination is too be made down the road. Midnite Son's...Dark Avenger's...whom knows. But expect the to either be introduced as a next phase of Netflix series...or for all 4 to debut in a stand alone movie.
