This post is two fold,its been long time since someone posted here but since movie just came out on dvd..
I somewhat enjoyed the movie,and I don't know why,lol. There was nothing spectacular about the movie,but I found myself watching it again.
I thought the connection with the ppl very good and well done. The acting performance of cillian murphy and chris evans was great. Though at first I hated chris evans character,but understood why the way he was.
The thing that made me really enjoy the movie was the soundtrack. It was just superbly done,and it made me feel for the characters...
*I could'nt find who did the soundtrack,would like to check it out...

Ya, I can understand why ppl did'nt like the 3rd act of the movie. When I first saw the movie,and it got to that part, I was like WTF is this. It throws ya off big time,and at first does'nt make sence or feels right in the pace of the movie.

I saw it last night. I thought it was decent but nothing that I'd want to watch over and again. The performances were good but the characters weren't very well developed and a tad one-dimensional. The SFX were good too but became kinda ho-hum upon repetition. And while there were some compelling high concept elements to it, I didn't find the plot to be all that suspenseful.

I give it a 7/10.

i frikkin' loved this movie. i liked 28 Days Later, but imo this blows it out of the water. better than Event Horizon, Mission to Mars, Red Planet, and Armageddon put together. i've been waiting for a truly suspense-filled movie for a while now and i definitely got that with Sunshine. i loved how the ships felt unique, yet realistic. it didn't feel like some imaginary rip-off of other ships. it felt like they went to NASA and asked them to provide a proof of concept for a spaceship that could withstand going into the Sun. the imagery was beautiful, the drama was tragic, and the horror was frightening. i'm not trying to put down anyone or make anyone feel like crap, but i honestly don't get why people wouldn't like the 3rd act. the villain was very creepy and handled geniously. this is, by far, the best realistic space flick to have come out w/in the last decade and i recommend it for anyone who still has a bitter aftertaste from any of the movies i mentioned earlier in my post.

i can see how his strength could turn some people off, but as for him just giving up...well, just because they didn't show him continuing to go after them after they fell so far away doesn't mean he gave up.

yeah, there was no explanation for what made him go crazy....but there was also no explanation as to how the sun was dying or how they built a ship that could withstand the sun's heat and gravity. them not explaining why he went crazy is a small question compared to other inconsistencies. imo, not explaining why he went mad (along with Pinbacker still being alive and on their ship in the first place) added to him being supernatural.

All too true. The sound was astounding in the theatres. One of my best cinematic experiences in a theatre, ever.

This is all true, but the movie was Sci-fi, sometimes in this genre things like the ship shield dont need to be explained.

They stopped because the bomb was so big that it create's its own gravity. It says this somewere on the DVD.

Why he gave up chasing capa/cassie? Maybe after he got his skin riped from his arm he had a revalation on what he was and doing???
What made him crazy? Spending 4years by urself can make u go crazy,so he found 'god',and became fanatical? Plus seeing ur crew die probably did'nt help.
Resolution of movie at end? I remember Cappa saying something about time/space or something getting blurred closer to the sun,and maybe thats what the blurred resolution was supposed to represent at times.
I'm kindof glad they did'nt try to explain away the sun or do anyof that Armegeddon type stuff. To me the movie was more about the ppl on the Icerous(sp) than about jump starting the sun..
I hate to repeat myself,but I think the soundtrack was probably one of the best I've heard in a long time. It set the mood of the movie,and to me made u feel for the crew,and its rare imo for soundtracks to really make a movie better.

I loved the movie, but this is is something I got confused about. I got the impression Pinbacker killed his crew be because god didn't want him to restart the sun.
