Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: Chapter 1 OOC Thread

Yeah. I hate writing all the backstory ********, but what can be done about it? Not a damn thing, so I'll have a post before the week is out.

What else have we heard before? Oh, yeah. I'm dropping Brottor. Not really feeling the guy in prose fiction form, but whatever. I'll be getting a post up soon. It's a new character, one I hope will prompt more activity here, and no, I'm not gonna post an app right now. This game is dying, and Johnny's not around to approve anyway.

So.. off we go.

Eh, GL can approve apps too. So don't let that stop you.

I'm going to have to drop my Druid character. I'll stick around with my Bard though, but I just had no story ideas yet for my Druid.

I'm going to have to drop my Druid character. I'll stick around with my Bard though, but I just had no story ideas yet for my Druid.

I did like the character concept, so it's sad to see him go.
I do look forward to reading the rest of your bard's tale though.

Course we'll see if it will work out.
Unless some people who talk a good game back up their ******** with actual posts, this RPG probably won't be around long enough for you to finish your story. :o

I'm sorry guys...but I'm going to officially drop out of this RPG. It has been like a year since it has started, and this RPG is clearly dead. Officially dropping, will make me feel better about not posting.

"Officially drop?"

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

:lmao:

I said that out of respect for your's, SF's, and GL's hard work at coming up with ideas for this RPG...ass. :cmad: :o

GL didn't do ****, and SF ran out on this RPG a long time ago.

As for respect, well respect for this RPG died when the co-creator vanished without having the balls to give any reason. Not to mention all the countless times people had made it known that they're going to start posting and work on their character only to do jack ****.

As much as I appreciate you trying to be respectful, it's completely unnecessary at this point, and, unfortunately, comical given the situation.

Word.

I'll work on a post soon! I promise!!!

Wow, went to go check up on it in the Archives to revise some stuff, and I saw that it disappeared. Was wondering what the **** happened to it...then I see it here.

I assume MB is the one who brought it out of the grave, so to speak. If so, thanks. Though I was hoping to get a couple more people as definites before bothering you to move the threads, it's mucho appreciated.

Okay, a few things...

Since we're sort of starting things over again, I'll need you to re-post your apps of your characters (if you played in the first run).

Trusty will be my AGM for the second coming.

Remember, all races not part of the Big 5 or listed under the racial traits section must be approved by myself and/or trusty and racial traits will be created.

Screen Name: Johnny Blaze

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well): Charaun

Race (What race is your character) (GMs must approve of any race not part of the big 4): Human Athenian (Greece) Lich (Undead)

Racial Traits (triats specific to your race; list can be found in the second post of the OOC thread) (For races not listed, GMs must create traits for that race first before player approval): Lichsight (the eerie glowing red-pin points of light in a lich's empty, black eye sockets see much more accurately than any mortal. The lich has darkvision at a distance of 60 feet. The lich cannot be blinded or impaired by any light no matter how bright, even from a magical source. Likewise, magical darkness does not hamper a lich's vision either. In the eyes of a lich, it is as though neither light nor darkness exist); Fear Aura (Lichs are shrouded in a invisible aura of death and dread. All those withing a 30ft radius are unnaturally shaken to the core and are a bit slower to react because of it; the lich can suppress this aura if it chooses); Paralyzing Touch (with but a simple touch the lich can paralyze a victim by channeling the negative energies coursing through it's body to it's hand. A person who falls prey to this attack will immediately become paralyzed and immobile. So much so that others checking them, even a skilled healer, would think that they are dead. The paralysis lasts for an hour, but can be magically removed as though it were a curse. Due to the touch requiring the focus of negative energies, the lich can only perform this attack once every few minutes.) Damaging Touch (The negative energy flowing through a lich's body is damaging to living creatures; the touch of a lich fills the touched area of a victim with a deathly coldness from the grave that ignites the area in agony equal to the pain caused from any blade strike); Immune to cold attacks, electrical attacks, negative energy attacks, disease, aging, poisons, polymorph, and paralysis & can only be harmed by magic and/or magical weapons; Being undead, the lich does not need to eat, sleep, or breath and is beyond the physical wants and desires of mortals

Character Class (Somewhat similar to the classes in the CAH RPG, but with some differences) (Choose One): Mystic (wizard)

Patron Deity (only required for those under the Paladin heading or who are a priest, cleric, or other divine agent; others may choose one if they wish to flesh out their character more) (Your Patron Deity MUST be from the pantheon significant to your character's culture, I.E. no Odin worshiping Egyptian Priestess): None, but pays homage to the demon lord, Orcus

Magic (if your character is a Mystic, choose one of the following schools of magic to specialize in. NOTE: A player will only be able to cast spells that deal with their school, forsaking all others, so choose carefully) (Descriptions of the schools and notes on magic can be found in a reserved post in the OOC Thread): Necromancy (4 points), Elementalism (Air) (2 points)

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, don't go "Like this", or what not): Dark Red, Impact

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral): Evil

Character Personality(Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Charaun is powerful lich who has been alive for centuries. As such he is a very arrogant being, convinced that his power and status cannot be bested. He is only out for his own ends, and cares nothing of any lives that get ruined along the way. Coming from wealth in his days as a mortal, Charaun is an articulate creature and is well-versed in the ways of regal protocol and etiquette. Charaun is not fond of the company of the living, preferring to surround himself with undead minions, monsters, and demons. Despite this quirk, he is not above interacting with mortals. A consummate schemer, Charaun is constantly hatching dark plots and nefarious acts.

Charaun is obsessed with power and is constantly searching for more. He is an intelligent being, and loves to play the role of manipulator, often getting adventurers to do his dirty work for him. He has been known to enter towns magically cloaked as a normal man of prestige, and hire adventurers to find items of great value for him. Despite this fact, Charaun is not above getting his hands dirty. He'd just rather not waste his precious time if he can help it.
Charaun is a hateful being and is able to hold a grudge for many years, as evidence from his continued hatred of the families of the men who were behind driving him out of Athens.

He has also grown quite fond of being a corrupter of goodly folk, especially holy men. He enjoys twisting their hearts and minds and turning them from the righteous path and towards the darkness. This trait is one Charaun must have picked up from his dark master, Orcus.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible): Once a mighty sorcerer in the City-State of Athens, Charaun's lust for power knew no bounds. Coming from a wealthy family in high standings of the city, Charaun's father was able to send him to study at the Athenian Academy of The Art, one of the most prestigious schools of magic in all of Europa. There he learned under some of the best wizards in all the land and proved to be a quick study. After many years of hard, never-ending work Charaun graduated at the head in his class and soon after joined a rather infamous group of adventures called the Swords of Ares.

The Swords of Ares were a band of morally challenged mercenaries who took any job that paid well enough, no matter how vile. All that mattered to them was the rewards, and that was not lost on Charaun. In fact it was a sentiment he wholeheartedly agreed with. The Swords adventured for many years, and sometime during those years Charuan fell under the sway of the Demon Prince of the Undead, Orcus. Under the tutelage of Orcus and his minions, Charaun became a master of the necromatic arts, learning many long forgotten evil rituals.
Including a ritual long forgotten on the mortal realm: the secret path to lichdom.

Charaun left the Swords and returned to his family's estate, murdering his parents and siblings and sacrificing them to Orcus. Now in control of the entire family fortune, Charaun went about collecting the necessary items required for his transcendence into unlife. At the end of his search Charaun employed his old company, the Swords of Ares, to find for him the final item he would need. The Swords completed their task, and returned with the item. Upon receiving the item, Charaun delivered his payment...a swift death.
Charaun completed the ancient, infernal ritual that took his own life, but arose moments later as a creature of undeath.

Charaun spent the next few decades locked away in his secluded manor, furthering his studies of arcane lore. To protect his interests, Charaun brought his former adventuring troupe back as undead minions under his command, renaming them the Swords of Orcus. Eventually though, Charaun's twisted experiments brought the wrath of all of Athens down on him and he was forced to flee.

Now Charaun makes his home in the ominous castle of Warlock's Rest, hidden deep within the Black Forest of Germany atop the Feldberg mountain. Here in his fortress, Charaun continues to seek out knowledge and artifacts. He is occasionally confronted by foolish adventurers who have heard tale of the vast treasures he has acquired and come to seek them out. Most fall prey to the myriad of traps and monsters which inhabit his castle, though the truly skilled ones are honored by being slain by the lich himself. Those that fall in the castle are soon brought back as undead servants, slaves to Charaun's will.

Charaun does not leave the Rest often, but when he does it is always for a purpose (searching for a new knowledge, getting revenge on a hated foe, manipulate/inlist others to his causes, etc). Most of the time however he can be found deep in the Castle's catacombs inside his laboratory, or in his grand library filled with hundreds of ancient tomes and scrolls, continuing his dark experiments and plotting, always plotting, for more power.

Attributes (Select one from each category) (some races are greater or weaker than a human in specific categories and will be noted below):

Strength Level:
Normal Human

Speed/Reaction Timing Level:
Normal Human

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort/Durability: Undead Lich (He does not tire, he does not feel pain the way humans do, and is susceptible only to magic weapons and spells)

Agility:
Normal Human

Intelligence: Super-Genius

Fighting Skill: Trained

Resources: Extreme

Notable Equipment (Items your character has on them of relevance, such as thieving tools if they're a rogue, holy items if they're a priest, magic weapons and/or armor, magic items, etc; we assume you're character has basic stuff, like rations, waterskin, and a torch or lantern; be as specific as possible as well as realistic as possible, I.E. if your character is carrying a ton of stuff their mobility and endurance will be sorely hindered; also keep in mind that magic items are rare, expensive, and difficult to make) (For ideas for notable equipment, and magic items, check out the link below the app): Bone Staff (staff carved out of the blackened rib bone of a red dragon and adorned with an onyx human skull with a pair of rubies in the eye sockets; able to loose a cone of fire from the skull's eyes akin to the breath weapon of a red dragon with a range of 60ft); ring of freedom of movement (allows bearer to move and attack normally through areas and spells that would otherwise impede movement, such as being underwater and walking through a bog, and spells such as web and solid fog); ring of mind shielding (protects against detection of thoughts, detection of lies, and detection of alignment); Amulet of Teleportation (a golden necklace worn around the neck with a rune carved stone in the shape of a small circle; allows the wearer to teleport to a location up to ten miles away. The location in question must be visually known by the wearer or the magic will not work.); Phylactery (magical artifact used to hold a lich's soul. If his body is ever destroyed, Charaun's spirit will immediately return to his phylactery, no matter where Charaun in upon his "death." The phylactery is protected by powerful magics and is impossible to destroy by conventional means. If the phylactery is ever destroyed, the next time Charaun is killed he will be gone forever. What Charaun's phylactery is remains unknown to all but the lich himself.)

Weaknesses (If your character has any specific weakness, such as a vampire's weakness to sunlight (among other things) and Faerie's weakness to iron, list them here): If his body is destroyed, Charaun is not dead. Instead his spirit will return to his phylactery, a magical artifact used to house the lich's soul. Here it will wait until a new body is within range, be it dead or living, and then will attempt to take possession of it. If the phylactery is destroyed then the next time the lich is killed the lich is destroyed forever.

Being a lich, only magical weapons and spells may truly harm him. A normal weapon striking a lich would be akin to a weapon striking a piece of cold, hard stone.

Supporting Characters (Does your character have a significant other? A mother? Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?):
The Swords of Orcus (Anastasia - female elven vampire priestess of Orcus; Hilarion - male human death knight soldier; Kallisto - female elven vampire assassin); Nightshade (adult shadow dragon ally); various other minions and monsters under his thrall

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG:
Experience in role-playing, a castle filled with amazingly tempting treasures, and a truly evil villain that can be a bane to heroes all throughout the known world and beyond.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as need be, life permiting.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards: Yes

Sample Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue):
Charaun walked through the still smoldering rubble that was once mighty Athens. The suns morning rays illuminating the disaster for all to see. Most of the buildings were gone, including major structures such as the Parthanon and the Athenian School of The Art. Around the lich were scores of bloated corpses, those who weren't able to escape his wrath.

Behind Charaun walked his general, the death knight Hilarion. His heavy boots crunching the stones beneath his feet loudly.

"It is a beautiful thing, is it not?"

"It is a masterpiece, my Lord", replied Hilarion as he moved through a pillar of smoke and ash.

"After all the years planning my vengeance against those that drove me out", speak the lich as he bends down and picks up the severed hand of a child.
Charaun gazes emotionlessly at the appendage, twirling it about in his hand before casually tossing it aside.
"To see it finally come to fruition is a satisfying thing."

A deep roar brought Charaun's and Hilarion's gaze upward to see a large red dragon soar overhead. Firastekles, a red wyrm from nearby Sparta, was given the duty of scouting the area and keeping curious souls away as Charaun surveyed the scene.

"When the world belongs to me, I shall make this my capital", states the lich as he looks around at the death surrounding him.

"But enough musing, I came hear for a reason."

Charaun's eyes began to glow with purple energy, and vapors of it began to whisp out of his empty eye-sockets. A loud thunder crack boomed as black clouds slowly began to materialize overhead, blotting out the sun.

The Crown of Horns, wresting comfortably on his forehead, began to pulsate with an eerie purple light. And soon Charaun's entire form radiated with that dark illumination.

Charaun spread his arms out wide, and a bolt of green lightning cut through the heavens. Evil energy pulsed from the lich, spreading out from his being and washing over the entire city.
For minutes this went on with Charaun remaining fixed like a statue. But soon a stiring to his left caught Hilarion's gaze. The death knight turned and saw the body of a small boy, his entire right side burnt and charred, slowly rise to his feet.
Behind him one of the city guards, mangled from the claws of a dragon, used his spear to help rise.

All around them, the dead of Athens slowly rose from their slumber. But no more life could be seen in them. There eyes were as black as coals, and they shambled about aimlessly.
Words were replaced with grunts and snarls as the animalistic shells began to get a feel for their surroundings.

Charaun cackled with delight as the scene unfolded before him.

"And now my damnation of this pathetic city is complete. May Orcus feast on their worthless souls for all eternity."

"Come", commanded Charaun to Hilarion.
"It is time we returned to the Rest. We have a war to prepare for."

"As you command, my Liege."

Charaun moved to stand next to Hilarion and placed a hand on his shoulder. Then his amulet around his kneck began to glow, and both he and Hilarion disappeared in a flash of light.

Firastekles roared once more as it passed over the city, it's undead inhabitants now infesting the entire area.
The drake had done it's job. It had kept watch over the area while the lich used it's magic. Now it was time to return home to Sparta and it's horde, which was now significantly larger.

The dark clouds still lingered though over the city that was once Athens. What was once the center of learning in the Mediterranean was now nothing more than a necropolis.

Dante is a very rational guy. He thinks every sceneario through and doesn't go into anything unprepared. His calculating nature can also make him seem cold and distant at times. Due to his being picked on heavily as a child, he has a inferiority complex and sometimes doesn't trust himself like he should. Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):

Dante Giovanni was born into one of Italy's most prominent magical families. His five other brothers and sisters attended the Athenian School of The Art and all five of them finished their schooling early. Dante is the blacksheep of the family, due to the fact that when it comes to magic, he can't do it. At all. Instead he has devoted his life into something all together: logic. Leaving home at the age of 15, Dante travelled around the world and learned everything he could learn, from England to Asia, he has learned from the best and brightest. Returning home at the age of 25, Dante crowned himself The Docktore of a new branch of logic: Science. Now at the age of 30, he travels the world in hopes of educating people that you don't need magic, all you need is brain power.

"Will you hurry up!"

Dante Giovanni, also know as The Docktore carefully walks backwards. In his hands he carries a brown sack carrying black powder, he carefully tilts the back and it spills the powder on the ground, it forms a neat black line all the way up the mountain.

"Sorry, sir!"

Watts, The Docktore's heavy set assistant comes bouncing down the mountain towards his boss.

"No time for excuses! It's time to see how it works!"

The Docktore places the bag on the ground and bends down to look at the line.

"There. The Chinaman's so called 'Devil Powder' should be a good enough starter for the chemical."

"And what is the chemical again?"

The Docktore rolls his eyes as he reaches into one of his coat's many pockets and removes one of his first inventions, a piece of flint and a small, spring-loaded, metal poker. All he need do is release the spring and the poker strikes the flint, causing sparks to shoot out. He named the device a "Liteur"

"How many times must I tell you? It's something I found outside of Turin. Highly unstable. All we need to do is set a fire to it and it goes up. I was thinking of calling it something scientific. Nightro-Glycerin?"

"Sounds good to me."

"And it should. I did create it after all."

Bending down to the black powder, The Docktore releases the spring on his liteur and sparks shoot out, igniting the black powder and sending fire shooting up the mountain towards the chemical.

"If I am correct, and I probably am. When you mix the Nightro-Glycerin with the devil powder you should have....."

BOOM!

The whole mountain shakes as the Nightro-Glycerin and gunpowder create a lethal combination.

"Yes! Aha! I did it!"

"...Sir?"

"Who need spells when you have brains? Ha!"

"S-..sir?"

"They were all wrong about me, Watts! I'm greater than they can ever imagine!"

"SIR!"

"What is it?"

Watts points behind The Docktore, the explosion rattled the ground so much that rocks and rubble are now rushing down the mountain to meet them.

"Avalanche!"

"....I don't know how, but I blame all this on you."

The two of them turn on their heels and run as the rolling rocks race behind them.

One day a band of adventurers came through Medelpad, and Rothgar became enamored with their stories of adventure. Rothgar was so taken by these fantastic stories that he decided to join up with the band on their quest to slay a group of ogres that threatened villages in the northern province of Jämtland. "Hahahahahaha! You'll have to do better than that, friend"
, howled Rothgar with a smile as he ducked under the slash of the angry troll.

"You brutes are strong", he chuckled as he rolled to the side to avoid the hammer blow from the large monstrosity.

"But as for speed you are lacking", he snarled as he slashed his mighty sword Banahogg through the troll's leg, severing it just below the right knee. The creature howled as it toppled over, and slashed out at Rothgar, but the agile Norseman was able to easily avoid the frantic attack.

"You're also lacking in brains", he said with a sigh as his great sword ignited in flames and it came crashing down onto the creature's head, splitting it in two.

"See what I mean", he smiled as the troll's carcass began to catch fire.
Rothgar pulled his sword free and within moments the troll became a raging inferno of stinking flesh. Paying no attention to the burning corpse, Rothgar scanned the area intently.

Finally a laughed escaped him as he had found what he was searching for: the troll's severed leg. During the rest of the fight, the severed limb had slowly wiggled away. Rothgar walked up to it and shook his head.
Already it had reformed a knee. In a day, a fully grown troll would be back once again to terrorize this small village and murder more children.

"Can't be having any of that", whispered Rothgar to himself as he reached out with burning Banahogg at set the leg ablaze.

FYI, we'll be skipping ahead one month in game time. This way any heroes who want to start off gathered at the undead-infested ruins that was once Athens may do so.

Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: SEASON I

Screen Name:

trustyside-kick

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well):
Caed. His true name will eventually be revealed.

Race/Culture (What race is your character, and, if human, what culture does your character hail from, for example is your character Roman, Athenian, Celtic, Norse, Spartan, Persian, etc) (GMs must approve of any race not part of the big 5: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, and Orc):
Human. His culture will not be revealed, as it ties in with his shady and hidden past.

Racial Traits (traits specific to your race; a list can be found in the second post of the OOC thread) (For races not listed, GMs must create traits for that race first before player approval):
He's a human. Cannot really say much else.

Character Class (Somewhat similar to the classes in the CAH RPG, but with some differences) (Choose One):
Ministrel

Patron Deity (only required for those under the Paladin heading or those who are a priest, cleric, or other divine agent; others may choose one if they wish to flesh out their character more) (Your Patron Deity MUST be from the pantheon significant to your character's culture, I.E. no Odin worshipping Egyptian Priestess) (Elves and Dwarves have their own pantheons which are briefly detailed under the Mounting Heavens of Celestia with the race's evil deities mentioned in the Nine Hells of Baator):
Not athiest, and not religious, but believes there is a God; not tied to one religion alone. He accepts and respects certain things from each one.

Magic (if your character is a Mystic, choose one of the following schools of magic to specialize in. NOTE: A player will only be able to cast spells that deal with their school, forsaking all others, so choose carefully) (Descriptions of the schools can be found in a reserved post in the OOC Thread):
Enchantment is a two-fold magic. It grants either the ability to grant magical powers to items and beings, or the power of compulsion (from dominating the mind, to inducing paralysis, to inducing sleep, and much, much more). An enchanter must choose one of those varients of the school to master, they cannot do both.

  • Minor powers include: charming individuals into thinking you’re their friend, inducing sleep in members of the Basic races, granting a minor magical effect to an object (it glows, blade never dulls, better/different flavor, etc.)

  • Moderate powers include: arousing a strong emotion in an individual, giving an individual a magical suggestion (“These are not the droids you’re looking for.”), granting temporary magical effects to an object (flaming bladed sword, arrows that seek their targets, rings of invisibility, etc.)
Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not):
Italic Palatino Linotype for his thoughts/narration and dialogue. The dialogue will be distinguishable easily through quotation marks, but he will have few words to say.

To help distinguish between his tale of the past and present, the past tale will be put in a quote tag with the title of the tale.

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral):
Good

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations):
He is a wandering Bard that has seen many things in his lifetime. While the traits of wisdom are not visible in his young brown hair, he is very informative. He is a patient person, not easily angered, and sometimes sarcastic yet serious.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):
His origin will be revealed throughout the span of my posts. His true identity for example, will not be revealed until the end. All that has to be known now is that he is a wandering Bard.

Attributes (Select one from each category) (some races are greater or weaker than a human in
specific categories and will be noted below or in the racial traits section of the OOC thread):
Strength Level: Normal Human.
Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Peak Human
Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort/Durability: Normal Human
Agility: Peak Human
Intelligence: Above-Average
Fighting Skill: Expert
Resources: Minimal

Notable Equipment (Items your character has on them of relevance, such as thieving tools if they're a rogue, holy items if they're a priest, magic weapons and/or armor, magic items, etc; we assume you're character has basic stuff, like rations, waterskin, and a torch or lantern; be as specific as possible as well as realistic as possible, I.E. if your character is carrying a ton of stuff their mobility and endurance will be sorely hindered; also keep in mind that magic items are rare, expensive, and difficult to make)
(For ideas for notable equipment, and magic items, check out the link below the app):
Never tells a story without his melodic guitar. He safely travels with his crossbow strapped to his belt; alongside the buckle to place his crossbow is his quiver full of arrows. He isn't very wealthy, being a nomad, so he wears some leather-padded armor on his chest, which is concealed by a tunic and cape, and concealed beneath the leather-padded chest plate is a necklace that is hidden at all times. The origin and purpose of this necklace will be revealed later in my posts. The rest of his clothes and garments are that of a middle-classed human.

Weaknesses (If your character has any specific weakness, such as a vampire's weakness to sunlight (among other things) or a Faerie's weakness to iron, list them here):

No weaknesses, just the disadvantages of the average human when it comes to vulnerability.

Supporting Characters (Does your character have a significant other? A mother? A Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?):
They will be revealed as he tells the tales of others, and that is will they will remain.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG:
A rare character type in the RPG. My bard will be telling a tale of the ancient past as well as take action in the present.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:

As much as needed.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:
Yes.

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

Some people would call me a scholar, but I just choose wisely with my words. Others would call me a man of god, a preacher. I have my beliefs, and fear the Almighty for his presence is indeed here, but I do not praise him. Many would go to call me a prophet, believing that my stories fortell possible future events, but I merely re-tell tales of the past, no trickery in this.

I am none of these. So who am I? That matters not. I am untamable, bearing ties to no one. My alliegance lies not with the elves, nor the dwarves, nor even the humans. My heritage, bears little, next to no importance in why I am here. I have been away from home, for so long, after I have told my tale, you too will have forgotten me, for I will not be here afterwards. I am a recluse. I am a hermit. I am a nomad. I am an outcast. But you may call me Caed.

But, as I have already stated, my name and origin are insignificant; that is not why I am here. I am here to educate, but still I am no scholar. I am here to enlighten, yet still I am no preacher. And I am here to open your eyes and your mind, to worlds and adventure you have only dreamed of, without making me a prophet. I am a humble Bard, at your service. And as is my service to entertain, this I shall do. And as is my service to inform, I shall do.

Are you listening closely? For first I will tell you stories of three lives, three different, yet similar worlds. But before I begin, let me reveal to you that these are no ordinary fairytales. No. You will not see the charming prince and the young and fair princess living happily ever after. You will not always see good triumph over evil, for we live in harsh times. Forgive me for I am not here to tease. But you will experience the pain, the sorrow, the grief, as well as the drops of happiness and joy as I tell my tale. I know these stories too well, and hold them dearly too much to lie.

If you seek happy endings, then I am afraid here you will find yourself lost. I have lived...seen the world long enough to come here now and tell you such a thing is achieved by few, yet pursued by many. As I am honest with you now, so shall I be honest with my tales. But of course, such a thing is easy when the tales I speak of are past tense, already passed through the Sands of Time, already woven into the Threads of Fate. Now do you see why I have been called many things such as a scholar, preacher, and prophet? Really? Neither do I.

And so begins my song, for it's rhythm and beat help move the story forth. You will not notice it, for you will become entranced. But you need not worry, I do not deal in enchantments of trickery. Such an ability are pursued by only the most foolish and weak-minded of men. Shall I begin now? Listen closely to the wind. Listen...as I begin to recite my poem of the wind. Are you listening? No? Listen closer. For it is the only ingredient I need.

Pay no attention to the plucking of my strings, just keep listening to the wind. If you fail to do so, you will be unable to hear my song unless you listen to the wind. Can you finally hear it? Can you hear my grand crescendo? Good. Now become lost in it.

"And so begins my Ballad of Saints."

NOTE: A player will only be able to cast spells that deal with their school, forsaking all others, so choose carefully) (Descriptions of the schools and notes on magic can be found in a reserved post in the OOC Thread): Necromancy (4 points), Evocation (2 points)

Approved.
