Sweet action! I'm gonna get my apps up later tonight.

Okay, everything should be updated.
Did some tweaking of the opening info posts. Nothing too major though.
Added some links for the gods of the non-human races in the first post, a link to help with equipment ideas for adventuring, and just some re-wording here and there.

Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: SEASON I

Screen Name: Carnage27

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well): Amun, The Lion of Sekhmet, Champion of the Sun

Race/Culture: Egyptian Human Lycanthrope (alternate for is of a lion/human hybrid)

Racial Traits: Lycanthrope (Werelion): Alternate Form (As an act of will, the lycanthrope may change it's form to that of a animal or a human/animal hybrid. This ability can be used whenever the lycanthrope desires and the lycanthrope retains it's normal intelligence in all forms); Low-Light Vision (able to see twice as far as a human can in torchlight, starlight, moonlight and similar poorly lit conditions and is able to distinguish color and detail. Only available in animal or hybrid form); Scent (The sense of smell of lycanthropes are much more attuned than that of a human. As such they are able to distinguish between specific scents in the immediate area and smells traveling down wind. They may also track others via their sense of smell. This ability is only available in animal or hybrid form); Feline's Grace (Werelions have an almost supernatural ability to maintain their balance in even the most hazardous situations, and their claws in hybrid form make them extremely gifted climbers); Curse of Lycanthropy (A lycanthrope may pass it's affliction onto others with a simple bite. When a lycanthrope bites a normal human, there is a chance of the disease getting passed on to the victim); Average life span is same as the base race
Strength: Much stronger in hybrid form
Speed/Reaction Time: Faster in hybrid form
Endurance/Durability: Slightly more durable in hybrid form
Agility: More agile than a man in hybrid form

Character Class (Somewhat similar to the classes in the CAH RPG, but with some differences) (Choose One): Spell Sword (Knight of Sekhmet)

Patron Deity: Sekhmet, Warrior/Sun goddess of upper Egypt, said to have protected the pharaohs in battle.

180px-Sekhmet.svg.png

Magic: Protection(minor)

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not): Book Antiqua Orange Bold/Thoughts

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral): Good

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Amun is a devoted Knight of Sekhmet, and due to that has a very deep sense of right and wrong. He will not kill unless it is required, and is devoted to wiping out the undead from the land.

He is what you would call the strong silent type, letting his actions speak for him, but he has a very strong military mind.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):

Amun hails from the city of Itjtway, the current capitol of the Egyptian Empire, and the center of the Cult of Sekhmet, Warrior Goddess of the Sun.

When he was a boy, the city was the epicenter of an Undead invasion, led by a mighty Egyptian Lich, in which his parents were slain. The Lich was defeated by the Champion of Sekhmet, who also lost his life in said battle. After this, Amun devoted his life to Sekhmet, and vowed to rid the world of the Undead scourge.

As a knight of Sekhmet, he was trained in protection magic to ward off the undead and heal his wounds in battle. He quickly mastered the use of the khopesh and the bow, and was on his way to becoming the next Champion of the Sun. When he was of age, 16, Sekhmet visited him in the form of a sphinx, and named him her new warrior of choice, bestowing upon him the Sun's Wrath, the enchanted bow that slew the Lich that had brought death to Egypt. Amun was also given the option to be given the Gift of the Lion's Life, and become the living vision of Sekhmat, which he accepted.

Amun has spent the past ten years purging the Undead from Egypt, and is now about to be given his most difficult crusade yet.

Attributes:

Strength Level: Normal Human

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Peak Human

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort/Durability: Peak Human

Agility: Peak Human

Intelligence: Above-Average

Fighting Skill: Mastered

Resources: Amun is a very influencial person within Egypt. He is a widly respected warrior, to the point of having been the Pharaoh's bodyguard and a general in his army. Because of this he has the ability to call a number of troops to his command if the situation warrants it.

Notable Equipment:

Egyptian Khopesh
khopesh-2.jpg

The Sun's Wrath, an enchanted bow that shoots flaming arrows bestowed upon him by Sekhmet that is incredibly effective against the undead.

Ancient egyptian armor. best example I can find is in this picture.

Weaknesses: Amun, being a warrior of the sun, is weakned slightly at night, more so if the moon is not visible. He is also weaker during different stages of the moon. For example, he will be stronger at night when there is a full more than when there is a crescent moon.

Supporting Characters: Amun will communicate with his patron God, Sekhmet, from time to time.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG: I feel like I've created a fairly interesting character, from a region that has such a great mythology about it.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards: Yep

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

A loud, booming voice woke him from a deep sleep. He rose to see the form of his mistress, Sekhmet, Goddess of the Sun, standing before him, and he knelt in homage.

"Rise, Amun, Champion of the Sun. I bring tidings of great despair and worry," the diety paused, an obvious look of worry spreading across her face. "Athens has been leveled by the forces of darkness. As we speak its undead citizens spread out like a plague of locusts across the land of Greece. I fear this is the work of an evil this world has never seen. And your God wishes you to help stop it. Go now to Athens. Find what has brought this scurge upon us, and destroy it before it consumes the world."

Amun bowed his head in acceptance, "Yes, my lady. It shall be done. Not a corpse's breath shall touch Egypt's lands, or shall I, The Lion of Sekhmet, lay dead on the battle field."

The Goddess's vision faded from his sight as he placed his armor over his chisled physique. As he tied his khopesh's sheath to his belt, the excitement of the coming journey beginning to well up in his chest. He had never been outside of Africa, but he knew all about the Greek lands, which he learned from travelling dignitaries from Egypt's ally.

He slung the Sun's Wrath over his shoulder, and headed out into the Egyptian desert, ready to purge the lands of evil yet again.

Ok, here's what I got for Werelion...

Lycanthrope (Werelion): Alternate Form (As an act of will, the lycanthrope may change it's form to that of a animal or a human/animal hybrid. When a lycanthrope bites a normal human, there is a chance of the disease getting passed on to the victim); Average life span is same as the base race

As for resources, that's just a general guide for how much your character has access to (equipment, money, connections, etc).

Once you fill in the resources part, you're approved.

Finished. My bad for not making up all the Werelion stuff. I completely didn't even think of that.

Side note, I'm definitely pumped for this game.

It's cool. The GMs are the ones that finalize the Racial Traits, but players can be hands on in the process, of course.

Subscribination. Will have app up Saturday morning. Sleep now.

Pray tell, would someone mind giving me the Cliff Notes version of what has happened so far, as in what isn't in the intro?

For the most part, just a bunch of solo arcs. Only thing that has really happened relevant to this revamping is Athens' destruction.

And keep in mind that we begin with it having been one month since the attack.

Ok, reading up on the magic system and am confused on how the slot system works.

This game's certainly more structured than I'm used to.

Is each slot room for a spell? Or type of spell? Or power level?

Is there any room for a dabbler? Someone who has magical ability but is not tied down to any one school (obviously they would be less powerful than those who do focus on one school)?

Each slot is tied to a school, with 1 slot giving you access to minor spells, 2 granting access to moderate spells, and 4 slots spent making you a master in that specific school.

For instance, Charaun has 6 slots what with being an advanced race being. I've spent 4 in necromancy, making him a master of that discipline, and 2 in air elementalism, allowing him to cast minor and moderate spells in that particular field. As such, I cannot have him use spells from any other field, save for minor divination spells since all mystics have access to that.

I'll post a list of D&D spells later on to give everyone ideas for possible magics and such.

I'm trying to come up with an evil character that I would enjoy playing...so far no luck.

What's the character limit in the game? I kinda want to bring my old Paladin back, but can't decide if I also want to play a villain, or a different hero I've got in mind.

Might as well get my first guy back in the running before thinking about another, though.

Screen Name:
Andy C.

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well):
William of Nottingham (Liam for short)

Race/Culture:
Human, Briton

Racial Traits:
Nothing special; he's just a regular human.

Character Class:
Paladin

Patron Deity:
Brigid, Celtic goddess of all things "elevated" both physically (highlands, hill-forts, etc) and mentally (poetry, wisdom, craftsmanship, healing, etc), as well as keeper of sacred flames and holy wells

Magic:
Protection

Speech Color and/or Font:
Palatino Linotype, Size 3

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral):
Good

Character Personality:
Liam has rarely ventured beyond Nottingham and the surrounding Sherwood Forest, and therefore knows little of the outside world. Raised as a peasant, he is still very uncultured and uneducated, but is a very fast learner. He is very trusting, to the point of being naive. Still, he shows a temper when he believes innocents are threatened, and refuses to let himself be intimidated. More than anything, however, he almost radiates compassion, and will always put others before himself.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):
Raised in a small village outside of Nottingham, Liam was brought up by his mother, his father having left before he was born. In the absence of a father figure, he instead looked up to the amazing stories of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, and his heart longed for that sort of adventure. As he grew, however, he learned that such things were beyond his reach, and following his mother's death, he settled into the life of a village blacksmith.

One day, shortly after his twentieth birthday, a messenger arrived in the village, looking for him. On that day, Liam received news that would forever change his life.

His father Godfrey, it seemed, had joined up into the armies of Camelot, wishing to help hold the kingdom together throughout the dark times. Sadly, despite his valor granting him knighthood, Godfrey was killed in Arthur's final battle with the wicked Mordred. With no King, Camelot has since fallen to ruin.

With his dying breath, Godfrey requested that his son be found, brought to Camelot and trained in the ways of a Knight, so that he may carry on the quest to unite England.

With no reason to stay in the village, Liam took up the offer, was given his father's sword and armor, and began the long trek towards Camelot, in the hopes that some shred of its former glory still remains.

Attributes:

Strength Level:
Peak Human (The guy spent most of his life working iron and steel, after all)

Speed/Reaction Timing Level:
Normal Human

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort/Durability:
Peak Human

Agility:
Peak Human

Intelligence:
Above-Average (Liam has no official education, but he's a fast learner)

Fighting Skill:
Untrained (though he's still fairly capable in a brawl, Liam has only begun learning the art of the sword)

Resources:
Minimal (knight's son or not, he's a peasant)

Notable Equipment:
Liam carries his father's broadsword and shield, and wears his father's chain-mail armor (with a few plate pieces he has made for himself). Even though he has left his shop behind, Liam still carries some of his tools with him, in the hopes that he can put them to use when he reaches Camelot)

Weaknesses:
Aside from the relative frailty of being a human, Liam's primary weakness is his lack of knowledge to most of the world around him. He is still very naive, and very uncertain about himself.

Supporting Characters:
Sir Godfrey (deceased)- Liam's estranged father, a knight of Camelot, killed while fighting the armies of Mordred.
Mary (deceased)- Liam's mother, a peasant woman, died of cold in the winter
"Acorn" Sally- a tomboy-ish rogue who encounters Liam while journeying through Sherwood Forest

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG:
I'm experienced in several forum-based RPGs, both here and on other websites. I've got a decent sense of dramatic structure and storytelling, and this is a character I've been playing for a long time in D&D. Besides, even if my character's back-story is a little hackneyed, you've gotta have the "Luke Skywalker" kinda character in there somewhere to stand out from all the brooding anti-hero types.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
At least once a day.

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

Andy C. said:
Sherwood. I've lived on its outskirts my entire life, yet I haven't ventured far into it since I was a child. My friends and I, we would go into the thickets and meadows, looking for arrows and things, any trace of where Robin Hood and his Merry Men may have stayed during their adventures. As I got older, it became just a forest, just some trees, just a place that led to other places where I wasn't going to go. But by Brigid's name, it was so magical in those days.

As I ride along the trail now, it's easy to see why these woods used to hold so much wonder for me. The beams of light seeping down through the brush, the wind rushing through the trees, the birds filling the air with their song. I can see why the great Robin of Locksley would choose this place to live. It is a perfect place to convene with nature, a perfect place to find some sort of peace...

"...and the perfect place to stage an ambush."

I didn't even notice the bandits until their arrows were already loosed.

Their aim is sloppy, and most of their arrows miss...except for two. One digs into my shoulder, the armor stopping it before it would have wounded me seriously. The other grazes my horse along its side; the wound is barely a scratch, but it startles the horse enough that it throws me off.

I hit the ground hard and start gasping for air, the wind knocked right out of me. As I struggle to my feet, I see the horse galloping away in terror, and the bandits closing in, daggers and swords drawn. They're filthy-looking men, no doubt inspired by the tactics of the Merry Men...just not the morals. I pull my father's sword from its sheath, and ready myself.

Just then, something whizzes past my head, from behind. One of the bandits suddenly lurches forward, an arrow in his chest.

"Who...?"

I turn and find a green-cloaked figure emerging from the brush, already nocking another arrow into the bow.

"Now the fight's a little more fair."

The voice...a woman? She pulls back her hood and confirms it, giving me a wily grin.

"Shall we?"

And right now the max character limit is 2 per poster. Down the road I'll probably allow 3 characters, but for now it's only 2.

Fair enough. I'll keep my other Good character in mind for an NPC or something, and get my Evil character up soon.

Don't worry, Andy. Eventually there will be 3rd characters as I've got a 3rd one already in mind as well.

JB, there's a PM coming your way.

*ducks*

Damn, that was a close one!

Thanks for the head up, man.
