Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: Chapter 1 OOC Thread

Sure, and Master Bruce will get laid by something other than his hand or farm animals. :o

JB, perhaps we can implement second characters?

I know it doesn't necessarily save the RPG or anything, but it could help?

If the RPG gets active again I would consider it as there's a few other character types I'd like to play. As of now it's hard enough to get people to join and/or post as one character.

Well, call if selfish, but I thought I myself may be able to get more active that way, so I'm not bound to my Bard tale since it it set in the past. I don't want to give him up, but I don't want my memory loss on my plans hinder me being active.

Ok, fine...two characters are allowed.

Now, as my absent co-creator said, people can now not post as two characters. :yay:

Screen Name: Green Lantern

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well): Grsh'na, Orc Chieftan
Race/Culture (What race is your character, and, if human, what culture does your character hail from, for example is your character Roman, Athenian, Celtic, Norse, Spartan, Persian, etc) (GMs must approve of any race not part of the big 5: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, and Orc): Orc, Grsh'na's barbarian tribe is nomadic, but mainly stays to what is now Hungary

Racial Traits (traits specific to your race; a list can be found in the second post of the OOC thread) (For races not listed, GMs must create traits for that race first before player approval): Low-Light Vision (able to see twice as far as a human can in torchlight, starlight, moonlight and similar poorly lit conditions and are able to distinguish color and detail); average life span of 50 years

Character Class (Somewhat similar to the classes in the CAH RPG, but with some differences) (Choose One): Barbarian

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not): Dark Red Bold Comic Sans

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral): Evil

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Orc tribes are essentially sentient wild animal prides, only more barbaric. From birth it is a fight for survival among orcs. Orc children have to fight to eat, if they don't survive, it just means more meat for everyone else. Having risen to what is the alpha male position in the tribe, Grsh'na is the most ruthless and blood thirsty of his tribe. He killed his own mother just to have a snack.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible): For years, Grsh'na has fought for survival. At four he made his first kill of a roaming bear, and successfully defended it from one of his brothers. As he grew older and stronger, he also grew more savage and blood thirsty. Once the chieftan felt threatened, Grsh'na was challenged. Orc challenges are naught more than an ambush, but Grsh'na was prepared, and emerged with the dead chieftan in tow, making him the new chieftan.

Attributes (Select one from each category) (some races are greater or weaker than a human in specific categories and will be noted below or in the racial traits section of the OOC thread):

Supporting Characters (Does your character have a significant other? A mother? A Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?): The rest of the orcish tribe

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG: Another villain... and maybe some renewed interest.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: Hopefully 1...

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards: Yay.

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

Grsh'na had become accustomed to sleeping lightly. As the chieftan, his authority was constantly in question. Since becoming chieftan, he had been challenged nine times, and as such, there was a severe lack of adult males left in the tribe. It would be years before any of the juveniles were ready to challenge him, and Grsh'na was pleased by this.

It meant all the women belonged to him, whether or not they liked it. He grunted happily. The orc female currently laying with him rolled over, her bulky scarred arm falling hard in his groin. Grsh'na bellowed loudly in pain, and swiped at the woman tearing flesh from her arm with his dirty nails.

"Woman should no place!"

The back of his hand flew across her face drawing blood from her ugly sharp teeth as they pushed into her lips. She snarled at him and bit at his arm, ripping a hunk of meat from his dark grey skin.

With another yell of pain, Grsh'na grabbed her chin and pushed her head backwards until he heard a nasty crack. As her body fell limp to the ground beside him, he ripped a chunk out of her breast with his own sharp teeth and quickly devoured it.

Screen Name: Johnny Blaze

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well): Rothgar Skullsplitter

Race/Culture (What race is your character, and, if human, what culture does your character hail from, for example is your character Roman, Athenian, Celtic, Norse, Spartan, Persian, etc) (GMs must approve of any race not part of the big 5: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, and Orc): Human (Norseman from Norrland)

Racial Traits (traits specific to your race; a list can be found in the second post of the OOC thread) (For races not listed, GMs must create traits for that race first before player approval: None

Character Class (Somewhat similar to the classes in the CAH RPG, but with some differences) (Choose One): Fighter

Patron Deity (only required for those under the Paladin heading or those who are a priest, cleric, or other divine agent; others may choose one if they wish to flesh out their character more) (Your Patron Deity MUST be from the pantheon significant to your character's culture, I.E. no Odin worshipping Egyptian Priestess) (Elves and Dwarves have their own pantheons which are briefly detailed under the Mounting Heavens of Celestia with the race's evil deities mentioned in the Nine Hells of Baator): Pays hommage to the entire Norse Pantheon (Odin, Thor, Baldr, Freya, etc)

Magic (if your character is a Mystic, choose one of the following schools of magic to specialize in. NOTE: A player will only be able to cast spells that deal with their school, forsaking all others, so choose carefully) (Descriptions of the schools can be found in a reserved post in the OOC Thread): None

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not): Dark slate gray and bold

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral): Good

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Rothgar is a free spirit, and is a man who enjoys life to the fullest as he well knows each day could be his last. He is a battle-hardened Viking warrior and knows when to be serious in a situation. He may be gruff and hard at times, but Rothgar has a good heart and will not hesitate to defend the helpless and battle evil wherever and whenever.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible): Born to a nobleman in Medelpad, Rothgar Skullsplitter was taught at a young age to be a great Norse warrior. He studied under some of the finest instructors and warriors in all of Svealand. By age sixteen Rothgar was already a skilled fighter and went on his first raid of Albion and got his first taste of true combat. Rothgar came away invigorated.

His battle prowess increased with each conflict he was in, and Rothgar soon became a local hero to all of Medelpad for his courage and tenacity. One day a band of adventurers came through Medelpad, and Rothgar became enamored with their stories of adventure. Rothgar was so taken by these fantastic stories that he decided to join up with the band on their quest to slay a group of ogres that threatened villages in the northern province of Jämtland. Despite the odds and some losses, Rothgar and the heroes were successful and all of Jämtland praised them as champions of valor.
Upon returning home, Rothgar soon became bored with life in Medelpad. He craved the adventure of the open road and the desire to see what the rest of the world weighed heavy in his heart. And so, with the blessings of the gods and his father, Rothgar, at the age of twenty, set out to make a name for himself in the world.

Now at the age of twenty seven, Rothgar has seen many battles in his years, and bears a dozen scars on his body from combat. But those are scars he wears proudly as each one was taken in saving the lives of the defensless.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG: Experience in role-playing and another character to help get some life going into this thing.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as need be, life permitting.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards: Yes

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

"Hahahahahaha! You'll have to do better than that, friend", howled Rothgar with a smile as he ducked under the slash of the angry troll.
"You brutes are strong", he chuckled as he rolled to the side to avoid the hammer blow from the large monstrosity.

"But as for speed you are severely lacking", he snarled as he slashed his mighty sword Banahogg through the troll's leg, severing it just below the right knee. The creature howled as it toppled over, and slashed out at Rothgar, but the agile Norseman was able to easily avoid the frantic attack.

"You're also lacking in brains", he said with a sigh as his great sword ignited in flames and it came crashing down onto the creature's head, splitting it in two.

"See what I mean", he smiled as the troll's carcass began to catch fire.
Rothgar pulled his sword free and within moments was a raging inferno of stinking flesh. Paying no attention to the burning corpse, Rothgar scanned the area intently.

Finally a laughed escaped him as he had found what he was searching for: the troll's severed leg. During the rest of the fight, the severed limb had slowly wiggled away. Rothgar walked up to it and shook his head. Already it had reformed a knee. In day a fully grown troll would be back once again to terrorize this small village, and murder more children.

"Can't be having any of that", whispered Rothgar to himself as he reached out with burning Banahogg and set the leg ablaze.

Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: SEASON I

Screen Name:
Byrd Man

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well): Dante Giovanni, The Docktore.

Race/Culture: Human/Italian

Character Class: Scientist

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not): Georgia and dark blue

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral): Good

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations):
Dante is a very rational guy. He thinks every sceneario through and doesn't go into anything unprepared. His calculating nature can also make him seem cold and distant at times. Due to his being picked on heavily as a child, he has a inferiority complex and sometimes doesn't trust himself like he should. But other times he's at the other end of the spectrum, being a smug know it all.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):

Dante Giovanni was born into one of Italy's most prominent magical families. His five other brothers and sisters attended the Athenian School of The Art and all five of them finished their schooling early. Dante is the blacksheep of the family, due to the fact that when it comes to magic, he can't do it. At all. Instead he has devoted his life into something all together: logic. Leaving home at the age of 15, Dante travelled around the world and learned everything he could learn, from England to Asia, he has learned from the best and brightest. Returning home at the age of 25, Dante crowned himself The Docktore of a new branch of logic: Science. Now at the age of 30, he travels the world in hopes of educating people that you don't need magic, all you need is brain power.

Attributes

Strength Level: Normal Human

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Normal Human

Supporting Characters: Watts: Dante's assistant and helper. Dante's family will also appear from time to time.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG: I can bring a decent RPer with over a year of RPGing experince, plus I've been told I'm an okay writer.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: Hopefully more than I used to.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards: Yes.

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

Germany

"Will you hurry up!"

Dante Giovanni, also know as The Docktore carefully walks backwards. In his hands he carries a brown sack carrying black powder, he carefully tilts the back and it spills the powder on the ground, it forms a neat black line all the way up the mountain.

"Sorry, sir!"

Watts, The Docktore's heavy set assistant comes bouncing down the mountain towards his boss.

"No time for excuses! It's time to see how it works!"

The Docktore places the bag on the ground and bends down to look at the line.

"There. The Chinaman's so called 'Devil Powder' should be a good enough starter for the chemical."

"And what is the chemical again?"

The Docktore rolls his eyes as he reaches into one of his coat's many pockets and removes one of his first inventions, a piece of flint and a small, spring-loaded, metal poker. All he need do is release the spring and the poker strikes the flint, causing sparks to shoot out. He named the device a "Liteur"

"How many times must I tell you? It's something I found outside of Turin. Highly unstable. All we need to do is set a fire to it and it goes up. I was thinking of calling it something scientific. Nightro-Glycerin?"

"Sounds good to me."

"And it should. I did create it after all."

Bending down to the black powder, The Docktore releases the spring on his liteur and sparks shoot out, igniting the black powder and sending fire shooting up the mountain towards the chemical.

"If I am correct, and I probably am. When you mix the Nightro-Glycerin with the devil powder you should have....."

BOOM!

The whole mountain shakes as the Nightro-Glycerin and gunpowder create a lethal combination.

"Yes! Aha! I did it!"

"...Sir?"

"Who need spells when you have brains? Ha!"

"S-..sir?"

"They were all wrong about me, Watts! I'm greater than they can ever imagine!"

"SIR!"

"What is it?"

Watts points behind The Docktore, the explosion rattled the ground so much that rocks and rubble are now rushing down the mountain to meet them.

"Avalanche!"

"....I don't know how, but I blame all this on you."

The two of them turn on their heels and run as the rolling rocks race behind them.

Approved. And to clarify things, Byrd and I talked about the character class and who he wanted to play. And since Dante could not be fit into any existing class, he is classified as a Scientist.

Gods & Men: The Ancient Myths RPG: SEASON I

Lord Doom

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well): Kenshin McKinelly

Tahoma Light blue.
Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral):
Chaotic Good
Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations):
Kenshin is a brash and naive. He has a high opinion of himself, which tends to get him in a lot of trouble. He will pick fights with tough guys who push others around simply out of the sheer thrill of fighting. He's an expert at swordplay and has a big heart. He constantly throws himself in the heart of danger and gets bored easily.
Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):
Ken's father, Duncan, was a legend in the Highlands. He was a powerful fighter who constantly battled with the supernatural forces that plagued his land. But one fateful night, a poweful demon attacked Duncan at his home, catching the Scott off gaurd. After a grueling battle, Ken's parents were killed. Ken went about practicing his swordplay until the day he met his enemy once again. Ken bested the demon and killed him, leaving only the demonic sword behind.
After breaking his own sword in the battle, Ken decided to take the demon's weapon as a keapsake, but was surprised when the weapon took control of his right arm. Apparantly, the demon cast a spell right before he died that binded his soul to his weapon. Once Ken took the sword, the demon entered his arm. Ken, being strong-willed enough to prevent the possesion from spreading, managed to control the demon (to some degree) and now uses the demon's incredible powers to help people and hunt down other demons.

Just his leather armor, dark blue cloak and hood, boots, pants, leather greaves, left guantlet. His demonic right arm can manifest itself into a sword or tendril-like whips.
Weaknesses (If your character has any specific weakness, such as a vampire's weakness to sunlight (among other things) or a Faerie's weakness to iron, list them here): Right arm is highly succeptable to holy magic. Other than that, same as normal human.

Supporting Characters (Does your character have a significant other? A mother? A Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?):
Just his sword, Beelzeblade.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG:
Good role-playing and an intersting character.
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
As often as my time will allow.
Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:
Yes.
Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

Kenshin McKinelly glanced up at the branches over head as he strolled through the forest. It had been several hours since he had seen any excitement and he was starting to get irritated.

"Where IS everyone today? You'd think there'd be some bandits ta beat up on." Ken replied whistfully. The demon attached to him sent his voice into Ken's head.

Perhaps we should find some random village and devour the souls of its inhabitants? The demon chuckled.

Ken rolled his eyes and moved ahead only to be blocked by a man in black and red rags and bandana.

"Stop! You cannot pass further 'less ya pay the toll.

Ken smiled.

"And what if I don't wanna pay yer toll?"

The man drew a dagger.

"You'll get yer throat slit, you will!"

The man came rushing at Ken, who merely stepped aside and kicked the bandit in the back. The attacker hit the floor and, when he rolled over to view Kenshin, was met by a claymore pointed at his throat. The bandit gullped and ran off.
Kenshin's sword dematerialized back into his demonic right arm.

"Well... THAT was no fun."

Character you have created (include known alias or nicknames here as well):

Lycanthrope. Specifically, he can transform into any type of animal in the Bear Family.

Racial Traits (traits specific to your race; a list can be found in the second post of the OOC thread) (For races not listed, GMs must create traits for that race first before player approval):
Alternate Form (As an act of will, the lycanthrope may change it's form to that of a animal or a human/animal hybrid. This ability can be used whenever the lycanthrope desires and the lycanthrope retains it's normal intelligence in all forms); Low-Light Vision (able to see twice as far as a human can in torchlight, starlight, moonlight and similar poorly lit conditions and is able to distinguish color and detail. Only available in animal or hybrid form); Scent (The sense of smell of lycanthropes are much more attuned than that of a human. As such they are able to distinguish between specific scents in the immediate area and smells traveling down wind. They may also track others via their sense of smell. This ability is only available in animal or hybrid form); Nature Sense (Werebears are creatures of the wilds, living a life in tune with nature. As such, they have a vast knowledge of local flora and fauna in their homelands. Even in foreign lands, werebears can usually tell if a plant is edible or not, or if it might have other properties by the smell, taste, look, or feel of it); Curse of Lycanthropy (A lycanthrope may pass it's affliction onto others with a simple bite. When a lycanthrope bites a normal human, there is a chance of the disease getting passed on to the victim); Average life span is same as the base race.

Mystic. But to be specific he is a Druid.

Magic (if your character is a Mystic, choose from the following schools of magic to specialize in. NOTE: A player will only be able to cast spells that deal with their schools, forsaking all others, so choose carefully. A mystic gets 4 points to spend in deciding their skill level in magic: 1 point equals minor skills in the chosen school, 2 points equal moderate skill, and 4 equals mastery in the school of choice. Paladins receive 1 point, and it must go towards Protection; Spellswords get only 1 point, and can choose any school to specialize in; Minstrels get 2 points and at least one must go towards Enchantment):
4 Points in Druidic Magic

Speech Color and/or Font (actually say what you're using, i.e. Arial Black; don't go "Like this", or what not):
Bold Sea Green Palatino Linotype Size 3

Character Alignment (Good/Evil/Neutral):
Neutral. All that matters to him is the state of Nature.

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations):
Extremely friendly. He is only hostile should one be planning or causing harm to Nature.

Origin Info/Details (don't be blunt, be as thorough as possible):
There was said to be an ancient group of Lycanthrope nomads; a group of mystics who bathed in their knowledge of the art of Druidism; they breathed every word of it. They hold nature very dear, and did anything for the sake of its survival. The Legend goes that they hide in the distance forests and other terrains of the globe, each area with its own Guardian. Centirius is one of these so called Guardians. He watches over the forests, intervening when it needs him most from those who would seek to harm it, disguised as a bear most of the time.

Attributes (Select one from each category):

Strength:
Same as base race (same as animal in animal form; much stronger in hybrid form)

Speed/Reaction Time:

Same as base race (same as animal in animal form; faster in hybrid form)

Endurance/Durability:

Same as base race (same as animal in animal form; more durable in hybrid form)

Agility:

Same as base race (same as animal in animal form; same as an average man in hybrid form)

Intelligence:
Genius

Fighting Skill (Due to their devotion to their arts, Mystics and Psions cannot be Experts or Masters):
I'd say Expert...but apparently he cannot be so I guess Trained? I'm confused here, because what if you have one of the schools of magic with 4 points?

Resources:
Minimal

Notable Equipment:
None

Weaknesses (If your character has any specific weakness, such as a vampire's weakness to sunlight (among other things) or a Faerie's weakness to iron, list them here):
Same weakness and frailty of any human when not in a sort of Bear Form. When transformed, as any Lycanthrope, he is extremely vulnerable/allergic to Silver.

Supporting Characters (Does your character have a significant other? A mother? A Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?):
None. Unless you count Nature. Not to say he will not interact, but he has no tied NPCs at the moment.

Describe using proper English grammar what you think you can bring to the RPG:
A character not yet seen in the RPG. The players in this RPG have done a good job making each of their characters different, rather than seeing the same types created. I wish to continue that trend.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
As much as is needed. I will not hinder a multi-player arc, that is for sure.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:
Yes.

Sample Post (Minimum Four decent-sized paragraphs containing dialogue):

A group of men, getting wood for their village to start the large bonfire tonight to celebrate a special occasion, start to converse and make small talk when one finds a peculiar piece of wood.

"Say, look at this one!"

One of the men bring back to the group a piece of wood, carved into a small bear cub, sitting on a leaf.

"Found a little time on your hands, did you Thomas?"

"What? No. No! I found it further into the woods, I swear it! Such craftmanship! It's so smooth and--"

"Probably some beggar, who got lost in the woods trying to find some berries."

Thomas looks at the carved piece of wood again, admiring the detail and smoothness of it. He looks over at the other men, who continue hacking away at the tree barks for more wood to add to the bonfire pile, and an idea comes across his mind.

"What if it one of those elves, eh?"

"An elf?"

"Sure! They...they're woodland folk!"

"Here? In Splintershire? I highly doubt it Thomas."

One of the other men, distracted by the conversation intervenes.

"What if it one of those nomads. You know, those woodland folk? There's talk about a Guardian that roams these lands, hiding away in the forests."

"Oh really now? And where could one find such a Guardian? Does he just walk straight up to you and tell you he is the woodland Guardian and bid you good tidings? Honestly, Edgar, what rubbish!"

"I heard of 'em too. Only, I heard it was a bear. A great, big, enormous bear! A white bear at that!"

"A white bear? What, like a polar bear? Please Eric, this is a forest! Why in the blazes would a polar bear be here. Tis not even cold! Now get your heads together, and start actually using those axes in your hands, and help us get the wood ready! And Thomas? Toss aside that damn little trinket. Get back to work!"

"...Aye."

Thomas walks back over to the spot he was cutting down wood, and gently places down the carved bear cub sitting on a leaf. When he looks ahead, he sees a bear; a white one. He gasps in shock, and looks back at the other men; they do not seem to notice it. When he looks back ahead, the white bear is gone.

Go ahead and throw up a sample Trusty, I'll review the other parts after I'm done with cleaning my house. :)

if the level of posting rises, I'll resume where I left off with Kamahl

It will, for my Bard. I have certain things outlined yet again. So you can expect me to be more active for sure.

It will, for my Bard. I have certain things outlined yet again. So you can expect me to be more active for sure.
Alright, here's what I got:

Lycanthrope (Werebear) Racial Traits:

Alternate Form (can be used at night, especially during a full moon, and can be used for three forms Human, Bear, and Human/Bear Hybrid), Low light vision (in bear form), Scent (as a bear a lycanthrope has a great sense of scent), Nature Sense, Curse of Lycanthropy (when a lycanthrope bites a normal human, there is a chance of the disease getting passed on to the victim.)

JB can add more if he'd like.

Also, I'd say get rid of the Transformation magic Trusty, as your ability is natural and inhibited. AND all lycanthropes are more vulnerable to sliver when transformed.
