Thing is, it's not as serious or gave as the original. It's more serious than say the Roland Emmerich abomination though.

I'm going to assume you meant "grave".

I'd say that's a good balance.

I'm fully expecting to love this movie given what I've heard so far.

I was under the impression there was at least three different battle sequences in the film it's saddening to hear that's not the case.

And that's fair...but SEE the movie first before declaring defeat and disappointment.
If I let a little negativity get me down for every film I've been anticipating I wouldn't like half the stuff I do: MOS, The Wolverine, Watchmen, TASM2, Pac Rim etc...all films that got either flat out mostly bad reviews, middling reviews or fair reviews. Not one can be called a critical smash but I find ALL of them to be among the best of their respective genres. Chances are some of those films I listed you don't like, but the point is just because SOME (and so far in this case the "some" is very small) people aren't raving and it's not 100% on RT doesn't mean you will fall in line with them.

Here's the thing I'm not rating the film or saying that based on reviews alone that I won't like it, I'm just stating my feelings about the things I've heard so far and also won't allow it to ruin my first IMAX viewing experience.

LOL, took a peak at TOHO kingdom, they are freaking out over there :D .

The amount of pages the review thread sprouted when it was reopened is pretty funny. There must be like....10 or so.:oldrazz:

Slashfilm gave it a 7.5 out of 10. They say that it gives you everything you could want from a summer film, slowly. They actually praised Aron Taylor Johnson, which was unexpected.

It's hard to get a sense of what to expect for Aaron Taylor-Johnson. It's like every other review calls him likable and sympathetic, and the others call him wooden.

I actually had no idea until a few days ago that Taylor-Johnson was British, btw.

All I've seen of him really from this film is about 5 seconds of him on the phone and even in that he kind of came off weird. I'm rather mixed towards Taylor-Johnson but I find I like him in things more often than not. He always comes off like a slightly better Taylor Kitsch, who he actually starred alongside in Savages. It was like Bland White Dudes: The Motion Picture.

I'm not fond of Taylor-Johnson from what I've seen of him and I'm not super hard on actors either. That being said I haven't seen the film so I have no idea what my opinion would be.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2694&p=.htm An interesting look back at when this film was expect to come out 2 years ago. I'm glad it didn't. WB would have probably treated it much as they did with Pacific Rim coming out shortly after Man of Steel if this had come out near The Dark Knight Rises.

I'm currently using it to inoculate myself to the crazy. I'm going to need it in the X-forums...

Still, sounds like there are flaws, but overall enjoyable. This is Edward's second film, I think it might've been unrealistic to expect perfection. Still sounds like I'm going to love the film.

Still can hardly believe this is only the director's second film! That's impressive!

I've never seen him in anything except for his small role as the young version of Edward Norton's character in The Illusionist (which wasn't much to go on, as it was like 5 minutes of an extended flashback where he didn't talk much), so I don't really have any idea what to expect.

I've seen a lot of other people who think he's a bad or uneven actor.

I've watched Kick-Ass and I didn't care for the film or his performance.

All I know is....my wife won't watch the old Godzilla movies with me....but she wants to go see this one.

He's decent in Kick Ass but not the best thing I'd probably place him as the weakest of the 5 main cast (though still good). So far though in trailers most of his shots I presume are reaction shots and he doesn't seem too emotive.

Only if he wears pants like Fing Fang Foom.

Seriously what is with the pants?
