It isn't really slow build. They reveal him quite early.

Either way the slow build up I mean to seeing him actually fight both monsters full on. The final battle. I love what I hear about the things we get leading up to that. It's right up my alley.

His particular post about was crying. Not everyone's. Many in here didn't like it and their posts were calm. His was very much crying and overreacting and just loud.

Nah, he brought me a chuckle, that's emotion. Somethign Godzilla doesn't provide outside of disappoinemt and boredom.

Still, so what if his post was "crying" whats it to you? If this movie was so good as you wished it was, it wouldn't need your defense. :b

They show him fight full on early in the film. It just lacks the impact because of how it is presented.

It doesn't need my defense. Plenty here have absolutely loved it haha

You have a problem people who haven't seen a movie defending it. But what about when people don't see a movie and write it off entirely? Same **** dude. His particular post about was crying. I don't think Godzilla needs defending. :funny:

I don't even get how the Muto didn't get killed, did he fly away?
That is straight up bad movie logic that they needed, otherwise the film would have been over in 30 mins. That the Muto could fly away from the atomic breath makes no sense. Same with the fact that Godzilla seems to wait a long time to use it, especially considering how the fights go.

Also, I think the major reason they try to avoid showing the fighting is because it gets kind of repetitive. There really isn't much to how the Mutos fight. Godzilla does have a little variety though. The tail whip is boss.

My theater was PACKED and overall seemed to be into it. It's been a while since I was in a theater with so much people, but then again I rarely go to late showtimes. I on the other hand thought it was crap. It just felt empty and forgettable.

I did a matinee and the theater was pretty silent. Was kind of embarrassing when I cheered during the finale. :D

Like i said, the audience and the movie in general would have fared better if Godzilla had shouted "shoop da woop" and "IMA FIRE MAH LAZORS".

I don't think it was a bad logic issue. [BLACKOUT]The atomic breath appears to be more fire like than laser. So I imagine that it has more limited range than what he have seen before. That and it does need a bit of time to charge up. Godzilla seemed to be using it more as an ambush, as he was already charging up before he showed up to use it. [/BLACKOUT]

The way he uses it in the finale doesn't seem to indicate any sort of range problem. Not for Mutos who attacked by flying/running right at him, clawing at his face/upper body. They did this repeatedly.

To be fair, it could be argued that using the breath really wears him down, which is why he only uses it as a last resort. Especially considering what happens to him after he uses it the second time. And if that is the case, I'd rather have it shown the way it was in the movie depending on the audience to figure it out, rather than Dr. Exposi...er Serizawa explain it.

Exactly it sounds like there's a reasonable explanation for it. But of course people will dismiss it or look at it as poor writing or whatever.

I have mixed feelings about the film. I really liked what they did with setting Godzilla up (the backstory, the conspiracy, etc), the reveal was nice... then they just sort of skipped the first battle, by turning it into a background event.

Bryan Cranston was great, and really, [BLACKOUT]lost interest in the human characters when he died[/BLACKOUT]. His son was rather boring, and I couldn't buy how he remained relevant to the plot.

Why are you getting all mad? If anything you're the one who is overreacting...

Saw it again tonight, loved it even more the second time around.

It's a great movie. I think they made the right decision to cut away from some of the fighting because it would of been repetitive. The final fight was a worthy payoff. This was a good set up for a new franchise. Let's hope it gets a sequel/

Bryan Cranston pumps this film full of heart in the first act ....... and then it goes on life support [BLACKOUT]after he dies[/BLACKOUT].

The whole 2nd act is literally mindlessness as Aaron Taylor-Johnson is conveniently whisked around the globe, ultimately to end up as a cheap plot device. Other issues I had:

- Elizabeth Olsen's character could've been cut out completely and it wouldn't have affected the movie one bit
- I think a piece of dead wood would've played a better military captain than Richard T. Jones
- They spent too much time building up the MUTOS backstories and only glossed over Godzilla's, basically rendering it down to a blurt by Ken Watanabe's character
- The fight sequences lacked any creativity

I give Gareth Edwards credit for not gratuitously flooding us with Godzilla .... but man did he make some strange editing choices by cutting away from the fights three times early in the movie. It lessened the impact and the end result was comedic. They should've just not fought at all until the third act IMO. By the way the score was absolutely dreadful. It was to the point where it was taking me out of the movie because it was so cheesy and distracting.

If ATJ was able to carry the middle portion of the movie with some quality writing to back him up, I would've felt a little better about what I was watching. But man, it was just cornball stuff with the military (outside of the HALO jump). ATJ became the most "conveniently" placed man alive during most of the movie.

This movie seems like something that was pumped out quickly in order to preserve character rights.

I had hoped that everyone kept talking about how the monsters absorbed/fed on radiation because it would be how Godzilla gained his radioactive blast. I figured the bomb on the boat might go off and everyone cringed but he absorbs it all and gains the blast.
