Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

Gareth Edwards has a great eye for visuals, and is very good at the verisimilitude of blending live action and CGI.

Definitely.

I love the first person perspective shots he had in the film as well. They didn't involve shaky cam, they were shot just right to give the audience a feel of being there. Especially that inside the school bus shot from the perspective of the kids. That scene has me chuckling every time hearing them all screaming and that one kid noticeably crying his eyes out. I know that's a bit cruel but I can't help it, especially when they were being loud brats bugging the bus driver.

As a huge Godzilla fan since childhood I can't wait for this film. I love how this is going to be more action packed than the last one but only because it's nice not to get the same film twice. I actually love the first one and consider it a love letter to the franchise. Say what you want about Cranston's character dying and ATJ being a bit wooden but that movie had some great moments and imagery.

People complaining that it was taking too long to get to Godzilla, but the M.U.T.O. were coolio. Underrated monsters.

I agree. I remember reading on another forum someone saying they were unoriginal and looked like origami crap or something to that extent. I actually dug their sleek design as well as the noises they made and the EMP factor was really cool.

I wonder how many of these new monsters we get to see. 13 other monsters? That's... That's a lot of monsters.

A lot.

This last trailer was great, that Godzilla vs Ghidora fight was great. I’ve seen these two fight many times over, but this looks and feels different.. I can’t wait to see it.

Talk about running the gamut. Touching epic about samurai saving a village against all odds... Aaaaaand... giant radioactive lizard monster from the ocean depths.

Which doesn't take away from G '54. Kurosawa himself was impressed by it.

Much like Blomkamp, he comes from a VFX background himself and is very good about knowing how to light things so that all the compositing works.

As dependent as movies have become on green screen shots it kind of blows my mind how little effort seems to be put into making them look good at all.

Also, good thing that WB are not blowing their load too early.

They hafta keep this close to their chest and unleash it at the right time to generate maximum hype.

That!!!! Wow!!!

That's strategy right there. I also have to wonder how something woth more than one head works as far as motor skills. Is like one head in charge?

Id kill to see the 3 hour KOTM cut, one hour for each of the three heads

Mike has said that the middle is the one in charge (this time around) and the outer heads are like his "little Brothers/Lackeys"

Also here's the soundtrack:
