Oh I know. I was joking with the Kong bit. Charles Dance's character could very well be a jaded, old man Conrad.

I mean there's no reason not to disclose the name of Dance's character in KOTM if there isn't a big reveal/payoff late in the movie.

Yeah, agreed. As long as he’s not just playing a throwaway character who contributes nothing (i.e., his role in Ghostbusters), there has to be a reason they withheld his character’s name.

So in the week since the trailer has been released, I've watched the trailer about 3 times a day. Incsnt get enough of it. I can't decide what my favorite shots are. What I love most about this trailer, is how much of the monsters they revealed, while still keeping them nicely hidden. Mothra especially, we only get 2 shots of of her in adult form, the second shot barely counts because she's being hidden by her bioluminescent godrays.

This might be too hot of a take to make but I think the trailer skyrocketed the movie into a must see for even the general audience for next year.

Like in a year where your going to get a plethora of super hero films (including the follow up to Infinity War), the Disney/Pixar juggernaut (Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, the live action Alladin, plus the Lion King CGI movie) not to mention Episode IX, to have Godzilla be one of the hype movies is a feat.

Sure WB and Legendary are known for good trailers, but they really needed to hit this one out the park and i think they did. They gave us enough but at the same time barely gave us anything.

Anyway, if toys were made for the 2014 movie, suffice to say there will be toys made for KOTM. And we won't get another trailer until December at the very least.

I think we will certainly get a trailer in November with Fantastic Beasts. WB is smart enough to realise this.
