Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

I don't recall Legendary ever getting 5 Toho monsters. I have always been under the impression that it's just Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, and of course Godzilla.

Now...there was one leak that claimed...

at the end of the movie there looked to be some sort of Destroyah crab, but other leaks say it's just a severed Ghidorah head?

Everything is just too dark, literally. I know it's to make the FX look better but it gets old.
I think you need to get your eyes checked, mate, because compared to the Blu-Ray/digital release of the first one, I can make out the monster fights.

Maybe get your own eyes checked because the monster fights were clear in the first one.

Not the digital release one, for me at least. Movie looked clearer in the theater, but the release one, in regards to the final fight, was too dark for the most part. It's been quite the point of criticism.

i hope the digital theater hurrys up and upload the trailer in true 1080p very soon

Awesome effects and looks like it could be epic!

Personally worried from the trailer though showcasing action over story - hopefully the film doesn't as well.

Part of what I loved about the first film was just how "grounded" it was, it was a horror film and character piece which elevated the action.

Some people hated that the first film had character over action - but, for me, the discovery was part of what made it work so well. Hell, even just look at Jurassic Park - the dinosaurs were in it less than people remember since the characters made those moments truly pop - same with Jaws; that's what the first new Godzilla movie did as well (if I remember correctly, so did the first ever Godzilla film).

I had no problem with Edwards' Godzilla focusing on character except that the characters were so deathly uninteresting and boring (once Cranston was out, which was far too soon). But yes, that movie did have great effects work and great use of perspective and sense of scale.

First trailer for this new one had that rare perfect synergy of choice imagery with inspired music selection. It's for a movie that is a sequel to Godzilla and yet I get chills every time I watch that trailer.

This new trailer's more just, "LOOK UPON WHAT OUR FX TEAMS HAVE WROUGHT!"

Which, oddly enough, is a very similar progression to the trailers for Godzilla!

I noticed that Zilla moves much faster in this compared to his own movie.

I mean... it was an eventuality that we would get a trailer shockful of monster action. Yeah, it's not as great as the first, but it still delivers a large amount of cool shots.

I imagine the final trailer will be more story-oriented.

Anyone have any idea what that crab-looking thing coming out of the ground is? It's towards the beginning of the trailer.
