Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

Ah ok just checking.

WB scheduled lots of early screenings for Kong: Skull Island a week or two before it's release so I expect something similar to happen once again. But it should be noted that the countrywide K:SI free screenings were arranged to build WoM and awareness for that movie since it was tracking to open to middling numbers and WB is probably not that desperate this time around to generate hype.

In today’s social media-fueled outrage culture, sure hope there isn’t backlash from people on the amount of destruction, if it is indeed as much as the trailers make it out to be.

Let them, will just make more people curious to see it

Are they screening the film at Cinemacon?

Also in that scene in the tv spot of godzilla smashing ghidora I got major Toho rubber suite vibes...in a good way.

The Showa Slam

As for the premire...id imagine late this month or early may. Maybe a week after Detective Pikachu.

Man is Legendary gunna make bank off of Japan next month

Yess! You can feel the love Dougherty brought to this. However realistically ...I'm totally expecting the human plot to be ok at best and The monster action to take precedent...

So basically like every great Godzilla movie
:D

See... I am hoping for the human element to actually be compelling and not just an afterthought.

Sure... I would probably be satisfied with just awesome monster action but if they make me actually care about the goings on of the human cast then I think this will be something that elevates the Kaiju genre. And if any cast could pull that trick off it would be this one.

I'm hoping too but keeping my expectations in check lol

I think you misunderstood the destruction complaints in various superhero movies, and why that hasn't applied to the various kaiju movies released.

The marketing already makes it look too big and exhausting like a Bayformer film. Not sure how it could be any bigger than what's in the marketing.

You are right...They should have made Godzilla human sized...:o

That's not what he's saying ( i think). I think what Marvolo is saying that the marketing has promised us this huge CGI throwdown on a scale on the Bayformers have achieved.

But that being said...this Godzilla....You have to go big.

The only complaint was superman who shouldn’t of caused all that damage but that’s dead and gone lol

There's also the whitewashing of what happened in previous disasters in Civil War. But, clearly, the anger over those arguments is still there, as we can see.

I wonder what the KG plan is? Does it have some kind of ultimate aim? What makes it THE doom of all things?

He wakes up to find a world covered in 7 billion pesky humans and their **** and trash. He probably just wants us gone either because he's an intelligent ******* like Smaug or because he's a carnivorous animal and humans are in his territory (the entire planet).
