Michael Dougherty is a good director and I'm glad he's on this project. I thought Krampus was an awesome movie, and I think we need more films like that in this day and age.

Krampus is a little uneven, but I liked it too, especially some of the humor and practical effects.

I agree with Vile. I enjoyed Krampus and I think Michael has some good script writing credit. I trust him to give us enjoyable human characters.

I think he'll balance out the fun with grittiness. Sorta what Kong: Skull Island seems to be doing.

Wouldn't make sense for them to drastically change the tone from Godzilla.

With Edwards' Godzilla..I thought that Shin Godzilla did a better job of just focusing on one region, and having the 'West Wing' style politics, hiding exposition and motivations in the jargon, while keeping a fast tempo. It does help that 'Shin' had something to say, responding to Japan's tsunamis and the government's lack of urgency.

I don't think Edward's Godzilla is a bad movie at all, but it's a movie that is..just lacking. To me it's a B minus.

It's not that it doesn't have enough Godzilla but the cut aways were problematic. The leads were mostly stiff and empty, and often dour. I want it to be dour, but let them act like human beings too!

If those things were just straightened out during the shoot, the movie would've improve by a whole grade.

Oh, I'm not denying it has those issues. I love that movie, but those do bug me a lot too.

I was just speaking in terms of the tonal consistency between these movies and how I hope they don't drastically change it.

Oh yeah, you mean one being dark, and the sequel being wacky fun? I could see that happening and I hope Michael can find a natural progression that doesn't seem jarring.

Basically, yeah.

But I'm not too worried (as of yet) since I thought Krampus had a nice balance of fun and atmosphere. Have yet to see Trick 'r Treat.

Edwards made promises with his Godzilla film that he didn't really keep. It's an incredibly flawed film. Not to mention he killed off the best actor and character in the movie before the halfway point.

So does this mean we will see Mothra? Because I'm prepared to do the song and dance and everything

Well, Legendary did spend a lot of money on the rights for Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidora (as well as Mechagodzilla, most likely). They will want to use them sooner rather than later.

I'd say the most inexcusable problem for me was that Godzilla wasn't even the focus of the plot in his own origin film. Everything revolved around the Mutos. I really think the way the first film should have gone was to have Godzilla be the monster to awaken first, the people react to that, and then the Mutos come up in response to Godzilla to feed off him/use him as a host for their eggs like the parasites they're supposed to be.

I've read about this, and the 3D one that was originally going to be released in the early 80's.

Very interesting stuff, and I love Stan Winston's Godzilla design.

Have yet to see Trick 'r Treat, but yeah, like I stated in the Monsterverse thread, I'm quite happy with this.

I really enjoyed Krampus. So im happy Dougherty is in.

I hope to see some casting news in the coming months.
