I cannot wait to see designs of those creatures. So far monsters in this universe looked fantastic!

Yeah the designs so far in this universe have been awesome. Very excited to see what they do with these new additions.

Every Godzilla nerd like myself noted the Monster Zero reference, dude. Kinda hard not to. :hehe:

I do love that devil proverb though. That's exactly how I want Ghidorah to be. An apocalyptic harbinger of death.

While I'm very excited to see those undoubtedly awesome designs of Ghidorah and Rodan, I'm actually really curious about Mothra's one since Ghidorah and Rodan will just be these huge scary bad-asses, but Mothra is a fricking huge butterfly or whatever it is. :woot:
Cannot wait for a modern take on a giant butterfly kaiju.

so did Rodan actually have any powers?

do you think they might give him/her some, like maybe go with a flame bird/phoenix motif or something?

Rodan, no. Fire Rodan, yes. But since they bought the Rodan rights, not the Fire Rodan rights, it seems likely this one won't have anything special beyond the destruction his flight can cause.

I see, thanks.

I didn't know there actually was a Fire Rodan.

In Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II (which is the superior of the 3 MechaGs IMO) Rodan got an evolution into Fire Rodan which changed his color and gave him a purple uranium heat beam

I didn't know that, thanks.

but Fire Rodan is considered a separate character from Rodan and thus they don't have the rights to Fire Rodan?

Yep.
Toho has trademark Rodan and Fire Rodan as separate characters.

thanks.

well then, I hope regular Rodan looks and fights cool enough in this film.

I'm just kind of worried that Rodan may get overshadowed by Godzilla, Ghidorah, and Mothra who all have more interesting looks, power sets, and backstories.

I would not be surprised if they incorporated some of Fire Rodan into Rodan for the movie.

Toho has certain guidelines for their monsters. I doubt they would be able to do Fire Rodan without calling it Fire Rodan.

This is true. I forgot how hard line Toho can be when it comes to that

Legendary have just dropped a bombshell of an update for those us anticipating Godzilla: King of the Monsters! A few minutes ago, the official Monarch Twitter page unveiled a photo of a stone sculpture of Mothra as part of the Monsterverse marketing strategy at Comic-Con!

Larva forms flank the adult Mothra while an egg or cocoon sits above. Attached to the photo was the following tagline:

Unlocked: Monarch Classified File #63061 – Temple of the Moth, Yucca Province – E. Russell #MonarchSighting

Still cannot imagine a huge butterfly in a modern blockbuster. :woot: It will look comical next to Godzilla and Ghidoran.

It's a moth! Of course! I had that feeling it's not a butterfly but couldn't grasp what exactly it is. :woot:

Dunno, it's just, too fluffy...

I've seen many realistic fan designs online that make Mothra look not 'comical'.

Don't see how a giant moth breaks your suspension of disbelief in the same world that has a three headed dragon. :funny:
