Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I didn't greet any of you yet, but welcome new members, and I hope you enjoy being members on these boards :yay:. And although I did not ask a question, I will thank @weezerspider for taking the time to answer questions. :yay:

But considering the movie is less than four weeks away from release, wouldn't you prefer to go easier on getting spoiled?

@weezerspider Hey man, I had a couple more questions if that's okay with you

-Despite the fact that Kong lost against Godzilla in the end, would you say he was necessarily weak or a pushover?(I see a lot of people saying this)

-And in your opinion....
Coolest Kong attack/move:
Coolest Godzilla attack:
Coolest Mechagodzilla attack against either and/or both of the main bois:
Coolest G&K Tag Team Move other than both of them throwing him into a building:

Really appreciate you answering all these questions!

I can understand Kong fans reading that he loses twice and feeling like he’s not shown his due, but if he wasn’t a match for Godzilla, there would be no movie. They have two huge fights and Kong goes toe to toe with him the whole way, but Godzilla eventually wins. Think of Peyton Manning vs Tom Brady. Manning won his fair share and showed off his own greatness, but eventually, The GOAT still finds a way to win.

Coolest Kong move is definitely the way he chops up MG at the end.
Coolest Godzilla move is getting on all fours.
Coolest MG for me was just the way his boosters would go off when he punched to give his hits more blow.
Coolest tag team is definitely when Godzilla ignites the axe at the end for Kong. I think that could be a Cap grabbing Thor’s hammer moment in a packed audience.

I’m happy to keep answering, but I kind of agree. I feel like I’ve described as much as possible haha

@weezerspider If it's as entertaining as Fury Road that is high praise indeed. I've been waiting on this movie since i saw the first one as the late night movie in 72. I know I'll enjoy it.

I never said it’s as good as Fury Road. I just don’t think I’ve enjoyed a blockbuster as much as GvK since Fury Road.

Hey weezer
So how is the human character Jia presented in this film? How is her past set up?

Thank you for the info. I’m a Kong fan and regardless of this movie will still be a Kong fan ! Really happy that he was somewhat treated with respect, but again not planning on catching this one in theaters. Sounds like a really good movie though. Hopefully this is the last time a Godzilla fan gets to direct Kong in a film. He is better of With Jordan Vought Robert’s or Peter Jackson, directors that love the character as much as the fans.

Not much more than what’s in the trailer as far as her past(I can’t emphasize enough how flat the human stuff is). She’s presented as one of the only humans who can really connect and communicate with Kong. She serves her purpose. Not a bad character. Also not one I’d ever need to see again.

How does Madison meet Julian Dennison?(The kid from the hunt for the wilder people)and what apparently BTH has a podcast in this movie? Is that true or incorrect?

What is Kong's incentive for fighting Godzilla? Kong seems intelligent, so I'm just wondering if it's clear if he understands what's happening.

Also, does he understand English?

I love Godzilla but when I think of him and Kong meeting I often see Kong as the more vulnerable good guy as opposed to the more reckless Godzilla, which makes me root for Kong although there is little on this earth as awesome as Godzilla. :D

First of all @weezerspider thank you so much for answering everyone’s questions! As someone who avoids spoilers, I refuse to read them but I do have some questions:

1. Off topic: How did you come up with your username? It’s awesome and I want to know.

I assume these are okay to be spoiled (at least as asked questions) as it’s not plot related so...

2. Are the Warner Bros. and Legendary logos done in the same style as the trailer? Textured color backgrounds/cave walls with color filters.

3. Is the title text for Godzilla vs. Kong revealed in a cool way? I love how they did Kong: Skull Island’s, Godzilla’s (2014) was nice too and they saved Godzilla: King of the Monsters until the end of the film. Do they even do the title reveal at the very beginning/after the intro scene?

4. Is there a separate more stylized section of end credits before the standard white text on black background scrolling ones?

As a designer, I care about this stuff and appreciate and look forward to your responses.

Of course, I care more about the content of the film itself, just curious here.

Just that they are natural predators towards each other. He doesn’t speak English but he does speak the native sign language of Skull Island which the girl does too.

They are already friends before the movie starts and yes he has a podcast. He’s a conspiracy theorist and that’s what his podcast is for.

1. I joined way back when this site was mostly just for Spider-Man which is where the Spider comes from and I have an unhealthy obsession with Weezer(yes, I agree most of their albums after the 90s suck. New one is quite good though).

2. I gotta be honest. This wasn’t something I was too focused on. I would assume they probably are the same since it didn’t jump out at me and I forgot. Sorry!

3. There is a fancy opening credits that it is set like a bracket which has all the Kaiju in it and Godzilla and Kong have won every round of the bracket and are now last, facing each other. The title comes up there.

4. Again, this isn’t something I was too focused on, so I don’t remember. Once the credits began to roll, my friend and I just sat and talked until they ended to see if there was an after credit scene. Sorry!

Thank you! A Titans battle bracket?! I need a poster of that ASAP!

How do they get kong on the transport? I apologize if you have already answered this. Some people have been saying that he is sedated a bit and in the trailers we see he wears a collar. What purpose does it serve?

hi there, I’m new here and a massive Godzilla/monsterverse fan. Question for weezerspider. (I apologise if this has already been answered).
Do Godzilla and Kong continue their fight after defeating Mechagodzilla? Also, when the director (Adam Wingard) says that there will be one definitive winner, does he mean Godzilla?

Hi weezerspider, firstly I wanna thank you for sharing so much, just wondering if you can spare some time to answer these if they haven't been covered already.
* According to Junky XL the whole carrier sequence was 18 min long, is that accurate in the film? How much of that was action?
* In terms of total kaiju action time, how would you rank both Kotm and GvK out of 10? Would you say this movie is 50% action?
* You mentioned MG is bigger than Godzilla, is it simply much taller, has a much bigger frame? Coz from the leaked toy it looked quite scrawny.
Thanks!

Anybody have any ideas how I could watch GVK in the UK? We are still in lockdown here and the cinemas don’t reopen till may :( hoping they announce some way to watch it before it comes out.

The carrier is the shortest action scene, but there’s plenty of action. I’m not sure about it it being 18 minutes. That’s possible.

KOTM’s action is like a 5.5 or 6 and this is a 10. There’s a lot of action.
He’s taller.

They sedate him. They have a control panel on the carrier to decide how much to give him. They do not show them get him on the carrier.

No. they part ways afterwards and yes Godzilla wins.
