Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

Tokyo Fest Celebrates Godzilla's 64th Birthday, With No Retirement in Sight

Legendary Pictures has Godzilla: King of the Monsters, directed by Michael Dougherty. slated for release next year and Godzilla vs Kong by Adam Wingard due in 2020. Once the licensing deal with Legendary ends in 2020, Toho is planning a series of reboots set in a cinematic universe populated by monsters from its roster.

Ehh, I am a bit leary of Toho going back to that super rushed schedule.

I do hope that they can extend Legendary's license.

I'm definitely looking forward to Godzilla vs. Kong, but I'm surprised they're introducing Rodan, Mothra & Ghidorah in Godzilla 2. How is Godzilla going to take on all three of them? Granted we don't know the story yet, but it would've made sense to introduce these monsters or at least one of them in Godzilla vs. Kong. To see Godzilla & an adult Kong team up would be pretty cool. Maybe the three will re-appear in Godzilla vs. Kong?

I mean, in a lot of ways, Godzilla 2 is redoing Ghidorah, Three-headed Monster.

I mean, you have Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah in the same movies, the comparisons are going to happen,

Beyond that, the trailer talks about
this grave threat to the planet (presumably Ghidorah) and about how they need the help of the other monsters to save the Earth. That's more or less or the plot of Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster.

Care to elaborate? I am overseas at the moment and watching that is not possible right now.
In Ghidorah, Three-headed Monster Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan have to team up to beat King Ghidorah. Not sure if that's what's happening in this or it'll be a free for all.
Ghidorah, Three-headed Monster did have the benefit of Mothra and Rodan both being pre-established though.

If it follows the old Godzilla movies, Godzilla may team up with Rodan and Mothra against Ghidorah.

I will be honest I didn't really get the look of the new Godzilla trailer looked like a massive shift in tone, colour, hell it looked like a big overhaul in a lot of ways. Not saying that's bad I just personally don't really understand the reason for such a big change.

Would love to see a Godzilla vs. Kong if this one does well.

Reason is simple: lots of people didn't like Godzilla 2014.

People do go to these things to see the fights. 2014 was a "what if this actually happened ad you were seeing it through the eyes of the bystanders?"

Different directors also have different styles.

I hope he returns to making big movies someday. I don't blame him for leaving after being thrust into to major blockbusters back to back.

Double edged sword when you become hot ****.

Don't get me wrong im not hating on the change just interested to see where they go with this now as many gave said the first at time was a bit like a found footage/ from your perspective way of shooting the movie.

This new one looks a lot more arty.

This is true, but the biggest problem I had was killing off by far the most interesting character after 20 minutes.

Yeah I wasn't happy about the trailers making me think we were gonna get Walter White vs. Godzilla just to have him killed so quick.

I'm still holding out hope that Cranston returns in a sequel, somehow able to grow to monster size.
