Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I don't think the scale of the action is going to be a problem. If you frame it right and you have the monsters battling in the mountains just seeing these two monsters clash will be plenty exciting. Just imagine Kong Skull islands final fight but with Kong and Godzilla. You don't need cities to get a sense of scale and majesticness. If they shoot the scenes right they'll be fine. As long as they get their epic wide shots the action will be good.

True, that could look cool. And I guess if they are fighting on Skull Island as opposed to a city, that will look really different than what we saw in KOTM.

Exactly

On your other point, I doubt we'll see their characters. Not like they made much of an impact in Kong

Yeah, guess you're right. I liked them though, so I was hoping that movie wouldn't be the last we saw of them.

WB is skipping comic-con this year... that means no GvK trailer. Devastating.

It'll be hard, but I plan to skip the trailers this time. A 5-year gap between the 2014 Godzilla and King of the Monsters made it especially too tempting to wait, but I wish I was able to first behold every shot of KotM's majesticness as I was watching the movie on the big screen.

We only have 9 months until GvK, though - and I'll have the KotM DVD for MonsterVerse rewatching to tide myself over until then.

I can wait considering KOTM gave away waaaaaayyyyy too much in all of its trailers.

That's basically 85% of trailers nowadays though. Wouldn't have minded a small teaser trailer (and I do emphasize the word teaser) in July just to tide us over until an actual full length trailer.

Hoping GvK is good and makes money, otherwise this franchise, as it is, is over.

Godzilla vs. Kong should hold a much greater appeal with the general audience than KoTM. Kong is a household name whereas Mothra, Rodan & Ghidorah are complete unknowns outside of Kaiju fandom.

My guess is the movie will end with Godzilla and Kong teaming up to destroy a bigger badder monster and they show begrudging respect for each other and go their own ways.

Yup, that's how I see it.

I want to see a clear winner in the Godzilla vs. Kong fight too.

Given that Adam Wingard confirmed a while back that there would be a clear winner and with the tagline being "One Will Fall", it's pretty much a given. As long as none of them die as a result, it's fine by me.

Even though it's pretty obvious Kong is gonna win lol

Kong is the slightly more evolved one even though Godzilla is pretty smart. They both don't fight other Kaiju that don't attempt to start **** first.

I reckon a third party/external force will cause them to collide, i.e. something that will create inevitable conflict between the two, at first.

Not just that but Kong has more of an emotional range than any of them including Godzilla who you can’t sympathize much with.

There’s a reason people tear up at the end of King Kong.

Legendary Goji has an aging samurai-esque vibe, and I'd argue he is somewhat sympathetic given that he's not outright malevolent and just seeks to restore balance when things go out of order. As for humans, well, he looks at us the same way we look at ants.

They're going to let Kong win...so im kinda meh about this.

Though best ending would be Godzilla sacrificing himself to defeat Big Bad and protecting newely discovered Godzilla Jr...and then Kong having to raise Goji Jr

Yep. I'd honestly be shocked if Godzilla won.

This would be cool. I do think the biggest problem with the American Godzilla films is that Godzilla himself doesn't feel like a character we WANT to root for. I've always thought that giving Godzilla a Godzilla JR. would be a good way to get the audience to actually feel for him instead of him just being a mindless monster.

Uhhh, I really don't get the vibe that this Godzilla is mindless at all. He comes across more as a grumpy retired warrior.

They do get his emotions across more in this than the first one, that's for sure.

People on social media have been constantly asking how Kong could possibly beat Godzilla and the answer is basically he's a ****ing biped with opposable thumbs.
