Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I’ve said multiple times, it wasn’t a test screening. Ya’ll are funny. You guys put too much faith into your YouTubers and your websites. I’ve seen things early before and posted here. I’ve answered over 100 questions. I provided a picture I really shouldn’t have and yet, nope, let me believe this guy on YT because I’ve already invested too much in him.

Because apparently we have to say it on every page now...

Since we have so many new faces in here all of a sudden, I'll make the rules here clear: ANY SPOILERS OR REFERENCES TO SPOILERS MUST BE TAGGED.

Spoiler tags look like this: [ spoiler ] enter your text [/ spoiler] (remove spaces). Or in the text edit bar you can click the button that looks like a square with a "+" in it and select "spoiler." Either one works. But use one. Zero tolerance from here out. That means InstaBan.

And DO NOT ask people to post bootlegs or leaked photos/clips. Those are also not allowed on the Hype.

Another note to all new posters....if you bring your arguments and animosities with other posters on other boards here....you will be banned for trolling. If you come here just to accuse one of our respected, long-standing members of this community of lying or trolling...you don't know what you are talking about, and YOU will be banned for trolling.

And I wanted to tell him it's ok to be skeptical, just wait and watch the movie yourself instead of being rude to poor weezer.

I gotta say weez, on the off chance you were BSing, I'd still get a laugh out of all this and give you a fist bump for being such a dedicated ruse man. XD

Really appreciate the time you've taken here to answer an overflow of questions.

I would literally need to be checked into an insane asylum if I sat here this patiently for all these questions over the last few days and just made all this **** up. :funny:

I’m sure I misinterpreted and/or forgot or misremembered some things, but overall, I’ve told ya’ll the movie.

Why didn’t I get 7 pages of questions when I saw MANK two months early? Ya’ll apologize to Fincher.:funny:
Honestly, based on what I know of your tastes, I'm shocked as hell you enjoyed this movie as much as you did. That fact alone has gotten me more hyped for this than any of the spoilers ever could.

Also, you're a goddamn saint for all this and I salute you.

I have a soft spot for Godzilla. But yes, I really found this to be very enjoyable!

EDIT: I think I might have liked MI: Fallout more than this. I know I made the claim I hadn’t enjoyed a blockbuster this much since Fury Road, but I forgot about that. I don’t know. This is a fun movie!

You know what's interesting, GvK is reportedly to be the lowest budget in Monsterverse movies somewhere around 155 million. But from what I've been hearing in terms of amount of actions, kaiju screen time and CGI quality it would easily surpass all the other entries, maybe 200 million+?
Any insights to that weezerspider?

Regarding the carrier and something some popular sources are claiming I am wrong on:

I’ve weirdly seen my screen name pop up around YouTube and some people are claiming that other sources said the carrier fight is a draw. I suppose the Kongiest of fans could try and claim that one a draw but I ask this: can you really say you didn’t lose if you have to play dead?

I honestly don’t know. It doesn’t feel like a cheap movie. My best guess is because of Covid and because of the HBO MAX deal, this one’s marketing budget is probably not even half of KOTM’s marketing budget. KOTM was like a month after Endgame and had to compete the same year as a Star Wars also(though that was much later in the year). To feel seen, they probably spent wayyyy more on marketing for that one. That’s my best guess.

Yeah I was definitely never expecting or looking for something at Fury Road or Fallout-level craftsmanship here, lol. This honestly sounds like exactly what I was hoping for.

Also, I wish we HAD been invaded by a David Fincher fan forum after you saw Mank. That woulda been neat. :funny:

I’m nowhere near a movie expert, but I think the animation rigs for Godzilla/Kong already existed so I think that needed less tech development?

Plus I read in a Dougherty interview that Ghidorah’s serpentine movements were quite the VFX challenge (have to find the article tho to make sure I’m not misremembering).

And lastly, I think the Hong Kong finale plays a role cos maybe they could have reused some layouts from PacRim to save on R&D?

All of the Welles purists like myself would be claiming the leaks are false because there’s no way Fincher would make Welles look bad!!

Yeah I agree, those could be strong possibilities. Regardless of the budget I'm glad to hear it's turning out to be the best of the bunch.

Absolutely. At least for these versions of the characters.

I heard rumors that a giant Skull Crawler would appear in Hong Kong. It is true?

1. Is there any hint at future Monsterverse films?
2. Is it just Team Kong that are seen at the end or do the other characters get their own conclusion?

1. No
2. Maddison and her dad get back together and he meets BTY’s character. That’s about it

Thanks for answering btw!

1. Is there an opening credits like one that was in Godzilla 2014 and Kong: Skull Island with the newsclipping or stock footage?

2. How big of a role does Skull Island play? Does it only appear in the opening and ending?
