Well, those sound like good choices for new characters - there must have been something in the treatment/synopsis they really didn't like. Or they were not wanting Singer and his team under any circumstances.

they do sound good.

I think WB is stupid if they don't consider Singer's ideas for the sequel.

The fact that Singer managed to portray super power heroes in a serious manner in the first 2 xmen movies is a good sign of his ability.

Sure, we didn't get the Sci Fi super villian in superman returns.

But since Singer already knows how to translate a character from comic book to screen in a more realistic manner than most other directors,
i think he deserves a chance.

darkseid, eradicator or brainiac. Singer will easily be able to put these on screen without any problems. He is a trekkie as well after all!

I hope he gets a chance or someone gets a chance to give us a proper sequel.

Singer's not the only director out there. It's not Singer or bust, Singer or cheeseville. There are other possibilities. Open your mind.

There are plenty of directors out there other than Singer who could deliver a good Superman movie, i was just speaking froma personal point of view. That okay with you?

Anyway, with the decisions WB have been making lately i just dont have the confidence in them to appoint a director who could give a better effort than Singer could.

Agreed with both of you, i actually think The Eradicator could be a really interesting villain if done a certain way. After reading Exile, not to mention i am currently halfway through The Return Of Superman, i have come to really like the character. Though i still cant believe they had him knocked out by an OMAC with one punch in Sacrifice.

Brainiac and Darkseid are possibly my two favourite Superman villains from the comics also, so i wouldnt mind either of those either.

I even think introducing a character like Matrix could lead to some good dymanics in the movie.

I shutter to think of what a Singer helmed, 170 million dollar, Supervillain included sequel will look like. He made a 205 million dollar movie that looked like it cost half that and his X-Men movies look like he had less money than he did too. Ofcourse this is all my opinion blah blah blah.

I just can't stop thinking about the budget of SR, can somebody please tell me why a story that didn't even include a superbattle cost 200mil to make? And if a movie without a superbattle cost that much to make how on earth is a movie with one going to cost 30 million less. I think that the real budget of an SR2 would have to be like 240 to 260mil atleast! The studio can say what it wants but I think that, on the off chance a sequel is made to SR, the director they have (Singer) wouldn't be able to handle a lower budget after seeing his lack of money management skills on the first one.

he was too obsessed with STM to think outside of the box... that's why we didn't get a villain

well damn man I mean boots with little tiny Superman symbold on the bottom for treads and little symbols all over his gear to create texture but still be cool

those things cost some serious money..too bad no one cared or really even saw them in the actual movie

kinda like that 10 million dollar return to Krypton thing that we never saw..... that could have been interlayed into the opening creidtis but thats just crazy talk.

thats what does videos are showing. they replaced tons of stuff with CGI.

its how you prepare before filming. if they would know before filming that this would be CGI then they wouldnt spend money on filming it.

Maybe they didn't like how the characters were potrayed or featured in the story.

If he can make X-Men for $75 million and X2 for a $110, whos to say he cant make an action packed Superman movie with $170 million?

He would just have to be a lot more careful with how he spends the money, which, to be fair, he wasnt at times with SR.

Yep. I know many report that said Singer & WB were talking about the sequel and that he is willing to do it for $170 millons or less than what he use for SR.

Things like filming on location instead of spending money building things like the Kent farm will help to keep the budget down.

True. I know they kept some of the thing that was used in Batman Begins to use again for The Dark Knight from what I heard.

Sex doesn't necessarily obligate him; it's not a contract. It's his feelings, if anything, that would make him do or not do something; not an attitude of "well, I slept with her so I guess that means I've have to go say bye to her".

You're putting your own sexual morality on Superman.

If Bruce Wayne had a fling with Vicki Vail then took off and did not see her for 5 years I would not have a problem with that, because IMO it is not out of his character, but it just dose not seem to me to be something Superman would do. IMO it’s not about sex obligating him its more about the way his character was portrayed.

Its not like he just shagged her and then left for no reason, he left for a genuinly good reason but made the mistake of not saying goodbye which he paid for in spades throughout the movie.

You all know I liked Superman Returns, but I see the problems there.

That being said, if it were me. Superman would have told three people he was leaving and three people only in my version.

1) Lois
2) President
3) Ma Kent

It would have been just as powerful if Lois knew why Superman left but she still moved on with a kid and a fiance.

I think that it would've been MORE powerful if Lois knew why he left and still moved on with a kid and a fiance.

I have been saying this for quite some time now. And have thought that since I saw the movie for the first time.

i agree on that too.........it would have been all the more "tragic" if Supes did all the right things.........and yet came back to find he "lost" everything......

i dont know if this is true or not....but i heard awhile ago that lex had something to do with Supes leaving without saying goodbye......like he tricked him or something to that affect...

That is correct. He faked the whole thing about Krypton still being alive. Sadly though we will never see this unless the WB releases a directors cut of the movie. I feel however this should have been kept in the movie. It made it more touching and you actually felt sorry for Superman and makes Lex's seem like a pure badass IMO.

Absolutely. Another thing that should ahve remained in the movie and that could have taken like only a few seconds of film.

Absolutely. Especially since she wouldn't how long he would be gone and if he'd ever come back.
