I completely agree with you Excel... the next one needs to be a lot lighter, but from what Singer said in the reference to Wrath of Kahn, that might not happen.

i mean...i kinda didntmention this but i couldnt of been the only one alarmed at the "lets make superman realistic" thing back in 04.

Supes II was horrible to me.

The action was good, but the light tone added to the drama was horrible.
Supes had a bottle of champagne at the fortress?

Singer just needs to write and Lois and Clark scenes with more spoken humor instead of physical humor.

Spidey 2 was serious but had great heart in the Peter Parker scenes.

What the hell does Singer mean when he mentions Wrath of Khan?

he said the sequel will be much darker like Wrath of Kahn

A mix for me.so a little lighter tone for the sequel.

by wrath of kan he means he thinks the franchise will really pick up then ala xmen(too bad itdidnt go anywhere) cause the characters are established so you have more time for action and fun.

YES.......there also needs to be better dialouge in general.

Serious! I don't need another FF :down
Uh huh. Because a lighter toned Superman movie is going to go down the exact same path as FF.:whatever:

^haha. singer in general doe snot make light movies....and i do not mean script. the look of all of his movies is very dark, gothic, and overcast.

Well forgive my soapbox statement, but thats the wrong way to shoot Superman. I don't want Lester camp or anything remotely like the debacle that is FF, but I want to feel some joy watching this movie. I don't want to feel all somber because he's all alone, his son is being raised by someone else and he has to be serious because he's supposed to be some Christ symbol. Gimme a break. The Spider-Man movies can do serious stories but still have a lot of fun to them, Superman should be able to as well.

"Fun" is fine, as long as it's not a bunch of ****** scriptwriters having "fun" destroying the name of Superman.

That may not be the case with the 3rd movie, given the sstuff we've seen so far.

I mean it's going to have fun elements in it, but Spider-Man 3 looks like it's going to be a dark movie though and through.

and that's EXACTLY what Superman doesn't need...

telling yall....chris colombus or jj abrams would NAIL a superman movie with a good script...

The fact that Superman is taken seriously may be the greatest thing about Superman Returns.

If the sequel is dumbed down (like Superman 2) then it will be a horrible mistake.

Who said anything about dumbing it down? I just want don't want it to be so somber.

Indeed! The perfect director for Superman.

Not!

Singer's a good director, but I have no interest in seeing any more Superman films made by him, especially ones that portray a beyotchy Lois Lane, a glum and downtrodden Superman complete with SuperSpawn, color-muted costumes, gloomy, dystopian art deco, and an overall somber world populated with joyless people. You just can't unring that bell. He's committed to continuing what he started, unfortunately. :(

agentpat who would you like for the director?

we need spielberg and bay action if they want to make a better profit with the sequel.

LOL, did we watch the same film?

I saw a Superman Returns that was epic, elegant, emotional without being cloying, and with a real sense of wonder. Superman's costume is subdued because that's how it appears in the 40's cartoons, which is the look Singer was going for.
