Goosebumps

Carl Ellsworth, the writer behind Disturbia, Red Eye and The Last House On the Left remake........

Now THAT'S interesting. LOVED these books, and I actually kept all the ones I bought (like, 20 of them) for my kids to enjoy. Very interesting indeed!

This show held alot of special memories for me. I liked the books to but the show was just the icing on the cake for me. I remember being 10, sitting down with my mates every saturday night with munchies, sittin down at 6 o'clock to watch Hercules: The legendary journey's, followed by Zena & then to cap off a wicked night, Goosebumps & then just watching a bunch of old rented 80's horror movies & eating take away. I used to look forward to it more than anything. I had Goosebumps clothes, bed sheets, board games, hats, undies, socks, posters. It was a great time in my life. I want 1996 back again :(

I feel like I post on this thread everytime it's mentioned as a possible movie.

Oh well, Monster Blood ftw

Known about this for a while...but finally nice to get some news on it

Welcome to dead house, plox? :awesome:

I have a special place in my heart for the old Goosebumps books and am surprised an anthology movie based on them was never done.

The tv show freaked me out when I was younger. Well... actually not that much younger

this could potentially be awesome, like even as a kids movie,(it always makes me laugh when people on the boards dream of the properties they loved as kids updated to fit their current age group) it could be awesome.

I used to always be terrified by the books and films as a kid and I actually never read them. But now I love reading them as an adult because I find them to be hilariously goofy. I love reading bloggerbeware.com. I'm guessing a new film series would have some better writing behind it and not make jump scares about a kid going to close her window to find out that it's already closed or how a kid thinks he has gone blind but it turns out a cat jumped on his head.

loved the TV series and read most of the books when I was a kid
cant wait to see how this one goes

I used to have one of the Goosebumps on tape that had a young Hayden Christensen in it.

Haunted mask was my favorite book in the series as a kid, I have a lot of fond memories towards those books. Very excited to see where the movie goes.

crazy how different he looks.

I don't think I paid any attention to the TV series but I loved the books. Vampire Breath, How I Learned To Fly and Monster Blood are the ones I remember most.

Now this is a series that can go on forever & not be tied down to a cast for each movie :awesome: This is a potential Jack Pot

My brother had quite a lot of them when we was younger.. I only really remember Attack of the Mutant, Haunted School, Welcome to Camp Nightmare and Attack of the Jack O'Lanterns. I never really got into them as much as I would have liked 'cos, to me, in most of the books, the scares were always explained away as something a little too kid friendly (for my liking) and then a totally un-scary twist would be put forward right on the last page... didn't seem to strike a chord with me, although I always thought the basic ideas were quite good..

Kinda surprised it hasn't happened yet.. or like someone else said, an anthology film hasn't being done. Anyway, seems like a good idea on paper. I know it was/is a series for kids but hopefully whatever they come up with isn't too 'kiddy' like the tv series kinda was, although at the time, I did enjoy it. I can see something like Horrorland or the Haunted Mask or Scarecrow Walks or even Jack O'Lanterns being the basis for a film.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?.. Eerie, Indiana next? :woot:

Excellent. Loved the series as a kid and read some of the books. Even for a kids show, in its own way, this was downright creepy. The notion of it happening to kids is freaky as well.

Now they need to make an "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" film. If this is a success, I expect it.

They should cast Hayden Christensen in this.
