Goosebumps

Happy the original logo is there. Fingers crossed Elfman uses the TV show theme!

I don't recall him using the original Dark Shadows theme in his score for that movie, so I kind of doubt he would touch on the TV show's theme song for this.

Why does Slappy look like Woody from Toy Story?

That's how looked on the book cover...

Nah man, the mouth, eyes, and eyebrows are different.

The book's depiction is more creepy, PG-13. The film is simply a PG, so he has to be innocent and cute looking :o

Looks a LOT better than Gulliver's Travels already...

Beware....you're in for a scare.

The abominable snowman, the werewolf, the invisible kid.....my childhood.

Looks absolutely terrible, BUT Goosebumps were an enormous part of my childhood so I'll be there. Did anyone see that mutant Hamster? He was always my favorite. Hope I get to see a big ol' mutant Hamster in this.

Was the Beast from the East in that group shot?

This looks awful, I stopped playing the trailer when they cheesy pop song started playing.

Agreed. I wish this was something else other then a bad CGI/comedy mash-up. But I'll still have to check it out.

What are the chances the haunted mask shows up? That book/episode scared me soooooo much as a kid.

Yeah, I wish there was an effort to make it a bit more serious and/or somewhat scary, rather than going full-blown comedy/action adventure.

I would hope there will be cameos and references to a great majority of the Goosebumps books like Say Cheese and Die, Phantom of the Auditorium, etc.

So it's Night at the Museum: R.L. Stine Edition.

Meh.

I was hoping it would be Cabin in the Woods: R.L. Stine Edition.

Doesn't look too bad. Not hyped up amazing but alright for what it is. Goosebumps was never king so they were never really that scary.

It seems the reactions to this were people were expecting a really dark twisted adult horror if that's what you expected you were kidding yourself.

I was hoping. Not expecting.

Goosebumps could be scary.

I don't think anyone expected that at all. Do you believe there was no way to present this concept to audiences other than "Night at the Musem comedy romp" or "really dark twisted adult horror"?

There are shades and tones in between those two opposite ends of the spectrum that could have worked.

The only way it works is if you do an anthology style thing. But the tv series already pretty much did every story. I do think Hollywood keeps trying to make everything too meta and tongue in cheek these days instead of a straight adaptation.
