Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

I don't know much about Green Arrow. I'll watch the pilot, and if it's good I'll go from there.

Manic and myself think Elongated Man can be a guest character.
Interesting to see how that could play out, now that we are promised a Jason Bourne kind of style to this show.

Don't think it can really. Brick is about as far as you could go, superpower-wise in a show that's very Bournesque and where the title character himself is not superpowered. Brick can be explained a little like Killer Croc was originally. But ridiculously stretchy guy whose outfit stretches with him might be taking things a little too far. Smallville could do it obviously, because its very premise was a superpowered alien, and Kryptonite can be anything you want it to be really. But this isn't a Smallville spinoff, so the existence of metahumans, unless established as known in the show, isn't something that would fit with where they want to take the character, and the fantastical and visual nature of superpowers could well actually distract from the main character too much and hurt what they're trying to do.

I think they should definitely be avoiding guest heroes if it makes it to series for at least the first 2 seasons.

If they go the batman route with some villains and the psuedo-science angle they can pull off brick, but just barely. I don't really care for the meta-human explanation, because its basically x-men.

I would much rather the villains be technologically based. Even Vertigo I think they should stick with the eye piece and not some other explanation.

Just cause they say the show may be bourne like doesn't mean the show can't have more comic elements/comicbooky stuff. We don't really know theme/setting for show yet. So even if they play some realism bit. They could still leave it open for magic, aliens and all that. Elognated man would be interesting. I definately could see the question would be a easily doable guest hero along with sandman, wildcat.

from what they have said its gonna be bourne like and no costume why the hell call it green arrow!what a joke this will be!:jedi

No one said anything about there being no costume.

^^
I have a bad feeling after reading this review, it smells like the canceled show Wonder Woman.

One thing I was suprised with smallville is that they never used make-up for brainiac or bizzaro.

Hopefully if they use brick they do him with make-up.

The rest of the villains shouldn't be hard to pull off. Mostly normal villains anyways.
The excuse behind that is budget reasons.

NOTHING could be as bad as the canceled Wonder Woman pilot. If you were to give me the option of watching that pilot again or sitting through all 10 seasons of Smallville, I'd say "give me the unsatisfying 10-year build up to a vaguely Superman-like costume whizzing by an airplane window."

I'm sure this will be better than the Wonder Woman pilot.

The excuse behind that is budget reasons.

Other tv shows did just fine with make-up like buffy and angel. I doubt they had a high budget either. Not to mention the CG bizzaro face probably doesnt cost less than make-up.

You could be right though, I just don't buy it.

As for the review, it sounds pretty decent. Really its a tv show what are people expecting. They have to build a series based on the pilot, they were never going to keep him alone on the island for a whole episode when you have to convince the network that it can make a series.

As for the villain, it will do for the pilot episode as well since the focus will probably be on oliver and the cast of characters.

His friends last name is
Merlyn
is it will be interesting what route they go there.

It has potential and I can see it getting the go ahead because CW's ratings are very poor.

TV Line:
Pilot Scoop: The CW's Green Arrow Series Targets Once & Again's Susanna Thompson

Arrow, the superhero pilot being developed by Warner Bros. TV for The CW, has set its sights on Susanna Thompson to play Moira Queen, the mother of Green Arrow’s alter ego.

As previously reported, Stephen Amell (formerly of Hung and now steaming up Private Practice) will fill the role of DC Comics’ Emerald Archer aka Oliver Queen.

In addition to her costarring role on ABC’s charming Once & Again, Thompson’s more recent TV credits include NCIS (as Lt. Col. Hollis Mann), NBC’s ambitious-yet-short lived Kings (where she also played a queen, natch) and Cold Case.

The Arrow pilot is being exec-produced and penned by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, and directed by David Nutter (Dark Angel, Smallville).

The set-up for this standalone series, which is not a spin-off of Smallville: “After being marooned for five years on a deserted island, former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen returns with a mysterious agenda and lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime.”

In addition to Amell and Thompson, David Ramsey (Dexter) has been cast in the pilot as John Diggle, an ex-military/special forces type now working in private security for Oliver Queen.

I have no idea who this woman is.

Col. Mann from NCIS? She was one of Gibbs' girlfriends a few seasons back. She was awesome.

Just saw the casting news for moira queen. Congrats to actress and how she turns out to be a good additions to cast. Haven't seen her work before. So don't have much else to say.

Also wasn't that review thing posted last week. I recall folks talking about it.

If you go to his facebook page there is a picture of him with a mold over his head and he's still got the facial hair. Probably getting fitted for the costume. It was taken sunday night.

Once again...... no.

the writers for the show said it wold be bourne like and no costume! read it on comic book movie.com site!

You do realize articles posted on that website are user generated so if I wanted I could create an article saying he won't be using an arrow and go around in a pink costume citing inside sources. It's good for getting stories quickly but the trade off is there is very little oversight.

It's funny because a lot of the batman articles you see originally come from the batman boards on shh here and the people posting the articles must be watching the boards so they can post the news to cbm.

The info for this show will probably come from the guy who ran kryptonsite and now has greenarrowtv.com.

From the articles I've read there is going to be a costume.

All credible sources have said there will be a costume. They said predominantly black with a face mask, voice modulator and hood, they seem to be dropping the "Green" out of "Green Arrow".

So dark a green that it looks almost black, I think has been the description. Hopefully the arrows will at least be green.
