Green Lantern reboot ideas.

I would just like to say that manip of Idris Elba is amazing. Would love to see him as John Stewart if they decide to use him instead of Hal.

Just can't see them using Guy or Kyle to start off with, I think they should be saved for the GL trilogy. I don't even know if they would use Kyle. (Although I don't know what his current new 52 origin is.)

First Film: Hal
Second: Hal, John, and Guy (cameo by Kyle)
Third: Kyle, John and Guy
Fourth: Hal, John, Guy, and Kyle

boom

I can already see the trailer.

*Batman has gone rogue, and become a Red Lantern*

"Hey Wayne, do you play roulette?"

"On occassion"

"Well let me give a word of advice...."

*Epic snap zoom*

"always bet on black"

I'd pay to watch just the trailer of that if it was Idris Elba. Even a Conan parody or something

I would be more interested in a Green Lantern Corps film than a Green Lantern film. That would be a great way to reintroduce GL on the big screen without doing an origin story.

I think GLCorps can explore interesting themes about soldiers, the military, etc, which is best done with John Stewart obviously.

Have John Stewart be afraid of being a soldier (scared of hurting others), which he quit before on Earth, only to be sucked back into it again with the GLCorps. Explore the themes of duty, responsibility, fear, a haunted one (soldier) vs a clear one (architect), etc

I say that they should do a soft reboot of Green Lantern, acknowledge that the first movie happened, bring back Ryan Reynolds, but go in a vastly different direction visually and tonally, have David Goyer and Zack Snyder involved to a degree with the production, and a completely different director.

The first film doesn't fit in the same continuity as MOS. MOS was meant to be mankind's first contact with aliens yet so many characters in GL kept saying that Abin Sur was mankind's first contact with aliens (Hal, Amanda Waller, etc.). It wouldn't make sense at all for them to be in the same continuity or to acknowledge the GL film happened.

Actually, although GL says Abin Sur was the first alien life form Earth ever discovered, they did not contact him. In Man of Steel the aliens were contacted. It just so happens via that quirk they don't contradict each other that way.

Not that they should be related in their current form.

Bringing Reynolds back isnt a good idea unless he gets really good reception in some sort of team (Justice League, Brave and the Bold, whatever) movie

Goyer said MOS was mankind's first discovery of alien life. Humans did not know of other races in the universe prior to MOS. That makes GL contradictory.

Reboot in a few years, wait 7 years in least before making anothe Hal Jordan origin story, if they're in sich a rush to do Justice League before that then i advise using John Stewert in JL, he's doesn't require too much effort because unlike Hal he's not that talky talky, it helps stop with the "Gl whitewashing" and gives the team a black character without having to shoe horn cyborg (a character that belongs to the Teen Titans, not the JL).

Green Lantern: The Animated Series was the key to helping the next generation accept Hal Jordan, yet DC threw that key to the window by canceling it.

I really, really like this concept art of John Stewart

That's awesome. John Stewart really needs to take the reigns of GL in the DCCU, at least at first.

Or do the GL Corps idea that we've been bouncing around this thread. If WB had JLA series on one hand and GL Corps series on the other hand it could be great. For instance release JL1 in 2016, then do GL Corps in 2017, then do JL2 in 2018, etc..

Pretty cool design for Hal. :D

Really warming up to the idea of Stewart being the next GL though. Been watching some Justice League episodes, probably why.

Chris Pine fits that well.

I would love to see Chris Pine play Hal Jordan. It would also help the Justice League film financially and the overall image of Green Lantern if he is played by the main star of Star Trek.

This is what I was thinking - I think Stewart would make for an interesting character, with his own personal internal struggle vs. his duty to the core and his fellow lanterns. I think this would be a very interesting take... I feel the DC film universe should really expand on well... the universe/ dangers of space - and I think the GL franchise would be a great way to expand on that,

Plus it'd differentiate them from the Marvel universe and really show the need for the culminating Justice League

I'm sure by the time GL is rebooted, Chris Pine will do a super hero role since Star Trek will be done.

The first movie tried to do way too much, introduce Hal and his life, including Carol, and then the GLs and Sinestro and Killowog, and then the big brain guy, and Parallax.
Didn't the GL cartoon movies try to reboot too? Making it sort of the old story/Training Day type thing where Sinestro turned out to be a bad cop?
And then the GL cartoon series tried its own thing by having Hal already GL and mostly focused on Hal in space with Kilowag. Sinestro was shown to be a hero and only seen once.

I say sort of reboot it, but since the main concepts were already established in the Reynolds movie they wont have to try too hard. Sort of like the Hulk
and then Incredible Hulk. But it would be a reboot. (If only Mark Strong (?) could still play Sinestro.)
I say have movie one establish who Hal is, then he gets taken into space to be the new GL and the whole movie should be in space with Hal as a fish
out of water facing a alien threat in an alien environment. (Similar to the old story where he had to fight that gold/yellow robot.) This would help establish
the other GLs too like Sinestro as his partner/friend. Their relationship needs to be heavily established, show they are more than friends. They are
brothers in arms, that way when Sinestro becomes evil in the next film it hurts all the more.

Or maybe have him train with Killowog and Sinestro while still on Earth. Like Sinestro suddenly shows up and they train. Interupting Hal's life on Earth
while he is trying to re-establish his career and love with Carol. And have the major threat be Earth bound, one major threat and make it alien or Earth
bound but something that shouldn't require too much explanation or history like Parallax. Maybe even something that has its origin related to the GLs,
like Iron Monger was related to Iron Man's. Something like Atrositus (pre-Red Lanterns.) That way Abin Surr's crashing on Earth/death and the threat
could be related. Atrositus crashes on Earth, after attacking Abin Surr. Now he is a big powerful vicious monster on Earth. And in this film Sinestro could
even help Hal stop him, like in John's Secret Origin. It also leaves his character open to return in a sequel as a Red Lantern.
Or maybe bring the Manhunters in as the bad guys. They attacked Abin Surr's ship causing him to crash on Earth and leading to Hal being GL. They
also are tied into the GL origin too. Robots created by the Guardians before the GLs.

So, lets see
Origin film. Reboot. Establish Hal on Earth, trying to get his life on track and then he finds Abin Surr and the ring (or it finds him). Suddenly he is being
taken away from his life to train with Killowog, or being visited unexpectedly by Sinestro. (Maybe Atrositus is why Sinestro decides to stick so closely to
Earth. And also maybe because Hal's ring was Sinestro's friend Abin's like in the original movie). So Hal must stop Atrocitus, and this time Sinestro can
aid him somewhat.
(I didn't like how Hal defeated Parallax all on his own without help. Something that wiped out the GL's best in one scene.)
In the end Hal and Sinestro have become friends. Hal's life however could be far from back to perfect.

Second film Sinstro trusts Hal, takes him to his home planet where Hal finds out Sinestro is actually ruling over it with an iron fist as a dictator.
Miss using his power.
This leads to a battle with Sinestro and his exile where Sinestro finds the yellow lantern power.
Would it be too much to have the Sinstro Corp in the second film already?
Maybe have the Sinestro Corp.

Third film?
Maybe bring back Atrocitus as a Red Lantern this time. Even start film with Hal apprehending a minro GL alien foe.
Or maybe make Carol, because of Hal's GL life, gets sucked into the Star Sapphires.

Maybe if the actors signed up for more than 3 films they could lead into a War of the Lanterns, Green vrs. Red vrs. yellow vrs. Pink, etc.

Actually, even if the actors only sign up for 3 films they can make sure to set it up so that Hal leaves being a GL, or goes into deep space as a member
of the elite GLs, leaving Earth in the hands of John Stewart, after 3 more films Stewart retires or is called away as well, and Kyle Rayner is brought in,
etc. So that eventually each could have 3 GL films, 9-12 maybe, and eventually leading to the War of the Lanterns and the Blackest Night (converted so
that no others superheroes need to be brought in. Just maybe the regular dead humans rise).

You could even get the original actor playing Hal to return as a possessed by Parallax.
Like the ultimate ending movie. Kyle, John, Guy, and Killowog, and Carol, fight to save Hal.

First movie will only focus on Hal Jordan as a human Green Lantern, but second and third ones will be fully "Green Lantern Corps" movies.

DCCU PHASE I:

2018 - Green Lantern 1 (Origin story of Hal Jordan based on Secret Origin with an unique storyline; Krona, Manhunters, Hector Hammond; Sinestro as fellow Green Lantern; introduce Carrol Ferris and include her in the entire trilogy)

DCCU PHASE II:
2020 - Green Lantern 2 (Based on The Sinestro Corps War or War of the Green Lanterns; Sinestro and his corps; introduce Guy Gardner, John Stewart and other Corps (Blue Lanterns, Star Sapphires etc.) and their entities such as Parallax)

DCCU PHASE III:
2022 - Green Lantern 3 (Based on Blackest Night & Brightest Day or Rise of the Third Army & Wrath of the First Lantern events or maybe an amalgamation; Guardians of the Universe, Third Army, Volthoom, Black Hand, Nekron, Black Lanterns; introduce Kyle Rayner)

Film 1: Secret Origin, a Hal and Sinestro buddy cop film, probably with Atrocitus as the main villain, if not him then Krona.

Film 2: Hal goes to Sinestro's planet, Sinestro becomes a villain, etc. He could even find a plan to get a yellow ring after the guardians take out his powers, but he's eventually defeated.

Film 3: Hal returns to earth and finds out he has been replaced by Guy Gardner and John Stewart, with the guardians having given earth 2 new GL's at the time due to a possible upcoming mencace. Possible introduction of Star Saphire.

JL movies: JL 2 could use John Stewart due to Hal being in Sinestro's planet at the time, Paralax could be the villain in one of the JL films and it could end with Hal Jordan aparently sacrificing himself, only to be Reborn in the next JL movie.

You could have a film with Kyle Rayner and a later one about the sinestro corps war, Blackest Night should also be left for a JL movie

I think the only thing that can save GL is Justice League.
Have John Stewart in the Justice League movie, put as much distance from the previous GL movie as possible and then spin off this new Green Lantern into his own movie. You ABSOLUTELY do not have Ryan Reynolds anywhere near JL to colour the general audiences' perception of the Justice league movie.
