is there a chance in hell we're gonna see Kyle Rayner in the 3rd one? :wow:

I know information is sketchy right now, and I think it's doubtful they're going to handle Hal's descent into madness by the second movie if they're gonna handle it at all...but what about the third one?

There's not a definite chance of a second one yet.

Ok, let me rephrase the question. Provided the franchise is succesful, how many movies should be alocated to Hal Jordan... before we can have Kyle Rayner. And is Kyle Rayner in fact a character that could transition well to a movie?

I know Guy Gardner is. I think he'd be hugely succesful as a supporting character. Everybody loves a wise-ass right? But Kyle's got a complicated back story. I don't see how he could work other than as a replacement for Hal.

I always thought it would be cool to
1st Hal (of course)
2nd= Guy and John are introduced
3rd= Kyle is introduced

I think it depends if Hal actually turns into Parallax, because bringing Kyle on just because might be iffy. But I would like to see him either way

Yeah, Kyle can transition well onto film (easily too). You need to remember that nearly every major comic book character has a complicated backstory, and they're being translated onto screen quite effectively.

If Hal is portrayed as more of an old school hotshot flyboy, then Kyle taking over as the everyman guy would work, though I'm betting that movie Hal will have more than a bit of Kyle in him, so who knows.

i think it would be best to do a hal jordan trilogy, then let that lead into a kyle rayner trilogy.

Hey, I love Kyle, but let's be real here. He is nowhere near popular enough to support an entire trilogy. He might not even survive in the comic books until the trilogy is complete. They already turned him into Parallax and killed him once since Jordan got back. If he was ever to achieve that level of popularity, Hal Jordan wouldn't have been recently brought back in the first place. He was never fully embraced by the GL fanbase, in part because they never got over Hal going crazy.

I'd be perfectly happy if he was a supporting character in the third one.

Kyle's popular enough with the comic fans to support a trilogy, and he's got that everyman flavor that could make him popular with the GA, but that's why I'm thinking that movie Hal will be a Hal/Kyle mix, since that's the best bet for a likeable protagonist in a movie.

I'm really curious about how they'll handle the other human GL's if they do sequels. I can't really think of a nonconvoluted way of introdrucing Gardner, Stewart, and Rayner.

I hope we do get Rayner in the 3rd film. He was Green Lantern when i started reading the comic, so he is definitely one of my favorites.

The best way to bring in John, Guy and Kyle would be to make it necessary for there to be extra GLs on Earth. And probably the only way to do that is to suddenly make Earth a hot spot of Entity activity. I mean, the Sinestro Corps is probably a given for GL2... especially if Sinestro goes rogue and gets a yellow ring towards the end of GL1. GL3 may have to get into Blackest Night territory and end up with the White Entity reveal and all that hullabaloo. That's some crazy ish for a movie series though. How else can you make it sensible to have GL 2814.2, 2814.3 and 2814.4?

I'd be surprised to see them introduce any of the other human GL's any time soon. Maybe after a few films, when Ryan Reynolds moves on. I think a "trilogy" would be a Hal Jordan trilogy.

I think unlike other superhero series Green Lantern doesn't need a reboot, it just needs a new lead. So after a break they can revive the series with John Stewart as the protagonist, and then down the line we'll see Kyle Rayner as the new hero.

Kyle won't see the light of day. Too confusing. Another brunette, white guy with a ring? Introducing Alan would be just as confusing. We'll be lucky if we see John or Guy. Even then it would be more like War Machine's introduction in Iron Man. Maybe Hal deputizes John for an emergency at the end. But to be honest I would expect it to be Guy since John Stewart's name is confusing to the GA.

No chance in Hell for Kyle. Guy is the best bet.

:hal: :hal: :hal:

Kyle would be awesome to see. I think the GA would like him a lot. He reminds me of Peter Parker, which is cool. I think people would dig it. He was actually successful as his time as GL. The books always sold well is what they said.

I haven't read any of Kyle's run. I started reading GL a couple of years ago and started with trades after it was relaunched in 2005.

I've actually only read a little bit myself, and read him up on the wiki/comic vine. He's a pretty cool character. I put off reading his stuff for a long time because I got started on Rebirth/Secret Origin.

Just recently picked up "A New Dawn." Can't wait to read it. All of his run is basically out of print.

Well since the GL movie seems to be a failure (although we don't know anything or sure yet in regards to sequels) I doubt I'll ever see mah baybeh in a feature film. :(

Yeah. :csad: But if they did decide to make Hal go insane and kill off the Corp, it would save on the budget cost. :awesome:  :awesome: Maybe save quite a bit by giving him a real suit for the most part too.

I still can't believe how bad it's doing at the B.O. Did not see that coming at all.

Apparentely people only listen to critics when they trash talk movies. They loved X-men First Class and Thor and those did only okay. :( Star Wars LIEEEED to me. The Dark Side is stronger.

I think GA are not very familiar with Green lantern as a superhero yet. its upsetting that it didnt do well for sales, i really wanted it to do well, but hopefully we'll get to see the GL2 kicking ass. If the trilogy is indeed a lead in to JL, then introducing kyle rayner would be confusing the GA. I would like to see John Steward in the third film as a supporting cast just to appease the GA. Then a spin off could spark after JL introducing Kyle Rayner as the main cast and John Stewart as his mentor.

IMO Guy Gardner should just be written off the corp totally. LOL.

Ironically I think we have a better chance of seeing Guy Gardner in a GL movie than Kyle Rayner. Guy is exactly the kind of character that could turn into a scene stealer and an audience favorite. He's got a bigger more in your face personality, which makes him a more translatable character. Not to mention that he doesn't have such a loaded complicated origin story as Kyle.

Guy Gardner is anoying and for me he allways seemed like a wolverine imitation

wolverine imitation

Well when you put it like that...
He DEFINITELY has better chances of getting a movie role than Kyle. :)

In reality, Guy would be a good addition to a Justice League movie because the guy would breed conflict on the team way more then the other Green Lanterns and that would make for more interesting drama and team dynamics.
