greengoblin vs hobgoblin

The Green Goblin was my favorite Spidey villian for years but after what the current Marvel crew have done with him I have to say Hobgoblin. They should have left Norman dead.

Green Goblin is the original, he has proved he is Spider-Man's worst enemy time and time again. he killed Gwen, tormented Peter's life every where he turned. He came back from the dead, i think. and I think he even started the clone saga, maybe not.
Also he was bad enough to be the first villian in the movie, and he was bad enough in the cartoon to become mentor to the Hob Goblin even though in that cartoon Hob Goblin came first.

download the new spiderman 3 trailer and see hobgoblin on there. he kicks ass as well.

Is the new one out yet or are you talking about the teaser?
I kind of like Hob Goblin, isn't he more like Batman in that he doesn't have any real powers? He is just a skilled assassin or something right?
And was Green Goblin behind the clone saga?

which goblin here wins ? greengoblin or hob ?
???

lol

hobbie's got no chance against the original,....

It depends, I haven't read a story with Hoby in it for awhile. I have an issue where these two actually do fight, Hobgoblin basically is whupping on the the Green Goblin, but it's Norman's son in the costume. Spiderman steps in and Hob starts whupping on him too, and it takes both of them to turn Hob Goblin away. Of course that was an inexperience Harry, not a crazed Norman. I don't know why, but I've always liked Hobgoblin better, anyway he got my vote. I have no doubt tho that if they ever did fight Norman would prob win at the moment because writers have been pushing him hard to be a bigger villain than he ever was with everything suddenly being his fault. If Norman wasn't on this kick then Hob would put up a hell of a fight.

Hob goblin used a modified version of the Green Goblin formula. He had super strength, above normal human stamina, speed, and agility. Also all the tools of the origional Green Goblin as he stole them all.

Thing is before all this retconing to make Norman even more of a villain I'd say Hobgoblin was a bit more clever. He was great at manipulating and stuff, and like I said above about that fight, Hob kept his head while Harry was panicking. I think the same would happen to Normal, the old Hobby would keep his head better and fight a bit dirty, Norman seems to be more out of control and insane anymore and would mess up. I just think Norman would win now because of all this retconing and pushing. Any other time I have a feeling Hob Goblin would win.

Edit- I mean, he was even able to modify Norman's origional formula to get the same abilities, but without the insanity. And I think his modified formula gave him more strength than the origional Green, but could be wrong on that, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Stormin' Norman's got the brains and resources to make a formidable oppenent for any MU villian. His abilities easily put him among the top MU villians (non cosmic, of course). Leading the new thunderbolts is a good start and I hope that post civil war, they continue to raise him back to his status quo of a criminal mastermind.

I don't know... Normie didn't have the stones, and Kingsley made a great Hobby.

I'd give the edge to Norm for his Silver Age fanaticalism (is that a word??? ), but he's been watered down since his "return from the grave".

And any HobGoblin OTHER than Kingsley is a mere third rate wanna-be....

:yay:

Same story for any Green Goblin that wasnt Norman. Harry couldn't have been a crappier villain. Anyways, if this came down to Norman vs. Rodrick (who IMO is the only character out there besides Norman worth carrying on the Goblin legacy) I'd have to give to Norman. Since his ressurection, he's been far more of a threat (to the point of eye rolling) to Spidey. He actually has class 10 strength. And each time they go mano a mano, its always bit of stalemate. I've never read anything where Kinglsey was able to do that. The only real advantage Kingsley has is that he knows when to quit. Even when he loses, he's still on top in some way.

Re-read some of the original Kingsley HpbGoblin stories, especially ASM #249, 250 & 251.

Great stuff!!!

Well Considering the Norman Osborn is dead... I give it to Rod.

Norman is alive....

Actually he's leading Thunderbolts in CW, unless he died in some off book this week I wasn't aware of.

which issue # is that. i cant tell.

I love both, but, I mean, wouldn't Hobgoblin win because he's just supposed to be an improvement of Green Goblin?

I actually have that issue, but no scanner, but do have a camera, give me a bit and I'll see if I can take some pics of the fight. Anyway issue #312.

Lol, couldn't find camera so had to use webcamera. Sry for the poor quality, really need to get a scanner :(. Anyway Basically (since the words are dark and backwards lol, and it added a date at the bottom so ignore that) -

Hobby says "Osbourne!, You lied!" and Green Goblin (Harry) *gulps*
Photo002.jpg

Hobgoblin asks Green Goblin where it is, Green says he doesn't know, Hobgoblin says "Maybe you'll be more cooperative when your wife's blood coats my hands".
Photo004.jpg

Green throws stuff at Hobgoblin, and Hob dodges easy. Green says "Blast! He's too quick, dodged then banked the bomb to the ground with his glider!"
Photo005.jpg

Green comments that insanity might have helped, but without it he feels fear now, and maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
Photo007.jpg

and Hobby blasts at Green and he barely dodges, surprised by the blasts.
Photo008.jpg

Spiderman shows up and slams thru the glass and into Hobgoblin.
Photo009.jpg

Green and Spiderman look shocked to see eachother, Hob says "Thanks for the distraction" and throws a gas gernade choking Spiderman, then throws some razor bats at Green, and Spiderman then kicks a metal drawer into Hobgoblins back.
Photo011.jpg

Spiderman webs onto Hobgoblins glider, and Hob tries to fly Spiderman into a building, Spidey says he'll dodge it easy, then gets knocked into a water tower.
Photo012.jpg

Then there's a section where Green comes back and dumps his entire bag of pumpkin bombs on Hobgoblin, but Hobgoblin blasts them all before they touch him, only one hits his glider tho and he has to crash land it. Green Goblin grabs Hobgoblin by the collar and asks Hobgoblin how he'll survive a point blank blast. Then Hobgoblin says all he was after was the origional formula that gave them their powers, Green says that the formula was destroyed years ago and Hobgoblin goes off -
Photo015.jpg

Then blasts repeatedly at a startled Harry while yelling "DIE!", and Spiderman pushes Harry out of the blasts way.
Photo016.jpg

Hobgoblin flies off angry, and Spiderman says "whew, Looks like Hobby's had enough for the day. You okay Osborn?" Harry says he guesses and thanks Spiderman for saving his life. It pretty much ends after that.
Photo017.jpg

Wish I could have made the pics clearer, but you get the gist of it. Anyway, I think Hobgoblin owned Harry (Green Goblin) hard in this one. Basically he whupped Harry and Spiderman at the same time, and Spiderman was releaved when Hobgoblin left. I always thought Hob had much more potential than Green because of the costume and attitude if nothing else. Green is insane and messes with Spiderman's head but his costume can look a bit goofy and not scary, Hobgoblin has that whole dark shroud look, and was completely sane but still a bit on the psychotic side. Not to count Hobgoblin's killed one of Spiderman's friends before too, it just wasn't as important a character as Gwen :).
