"Guardian Archangel:" The Official Character Discussion Thread

Yeah, it definitely was disappointing. Especially after all the promotion he got.

All of his scenes were amazing though. Especially the scene with him flying in the sky over the park at the end.

The good thing is he has been planted nicely for a future sequel. But man...what a letdown. He got it worse than Cykes. :(

I like to think that had he been given more time, he would have really shined. Sadly, he wasn't given that opportunity.

They really got his flight down though.

I liked Angel in this film but he needed more screen time!!! Hopefully he is in X4 and ben is playing him again. AS i'm a fan of Angel i was really dissapointed :(.

That's exactly what I thought too. Great minds think alike. :p

Especially the shot after he saved his dad, that was well done and looked really lifelike. You know there's going to be an X4, so I just hope that they do bring Angel back for that and don't give him the Nightcrawler treatment, because Ben really shined, and he loved playing in these movies, unlike Alan, so I hope they bring him back again.

If I was a big Angel fan I'd be VERY disappointed. So much potential - wasted for promotional purposes only. He looked great, but was a wasted character. Shouldn't have bothered with him. :(

I am wishing my hope for a trilogy of Apocalypse movies comes true. I have seen Ben's great acting ability long before X3 and let me tell you...he can go MUCH farther than what he was given in X3. I want to see the Archangel arc.

Do you know what the theatre crowd's reaction on Angel was?I went to see xmen3 thrice and I heard the same reaction and it is that --

Angel is pretty. :)

I know, he took the guts and effort to actually try and completley cut them off his body. Then he doesn't want a quick injection to cure himself. Kind of a continuity error.
I didn't think it was a continuity error. He's just really unsure of what he wants to do with himself, LOL, at least until he's given the chance to rid of his wings permanently.

I don't know if this is a good example, but say plastic surgeons made breast implants (and the corresponding surgery) free. Some people might say that I would need it since I'm pretty much as flat-chested as you can get while still having something there, and there was a time in my life where I wish I was bigger and might even have gone through surgery if the idea of having the surgery didn't squick me out. :o

Now I'm older and I've accepted that the media is stupid, and that I'm beautiful the way I am. Plus all of my other friends say that having breasts fly up in your face during inconvenient times is no walk in the park, LOL, in addition to the fact that most guys don't look at their faces while they're talking with them...I'm grateful that I don't have to think about them at all most of the time, and that guys look at my face when they talk with me. (Heck, they might be looking at my butt, but at least I won't notice as much when they do it.) I find it so sad when women get implants so they can feel "normal." Normal compared to what? What the media tells us normal is? We're just not "average," and honestly, who wants to be average? :)

Wings are definitely 10000000x more difficult to deal with, and Warren probably thought that he wanted to be rid of them. He'd be normal, right? But then when he faced the cure and how it meant permanent loss of his wings, he decided that he liked them enough not to lose them. We still have to see him completely embrace them, but we saw some of it when he used his powers to save his father.

That scene when he was grating them off his body made me feel sick.

I have a very sensitive disposition :)

The scene with Angel in an X-suit, fighting the Brotherhood members -- it better be true and on the DVD. Or there will be blood...oh, yes, blood!

There wasn't any footage of Angel in an X-suit shot I believe. Just promo images like Cykes.

Him shaving off his wings as a child and not wanting the injection as an adult isnt a continuity error, he was a boy then with weird lumps growing out his back he couldnt understand, over the years they turned to wings and he learnt to love the freedom they represent but just wanted to make his dad proud. Anyway I agree with you guy, Angel is an amazing character like so many others in this film he was wasted

Someone posted on here that he saw the movie at a press screening and it had about 20 minutes added to the movie, one of them included Angel fighting the Brotherhood and rescuing his dad, instead of showing out of nowhere like in the public version.

I remember Ben Foster himself saying that he only wore a suit for promo photos.

Really?

Well, one of you (the guy who saw the press screening) is lying, then. We shall see soon.

Yeah. I loved pretty much everything else about the movie except how Angel was handled. Didn't think a character could get shafted even more than Cyclops but they proved me wrong.

He wasn't in an X-suit in that scene. ;)

I think they'll bring him back. The producers are supposedly interested in doing Archangel.

I think Angel was an effective way of portraying the whole conflict of taking the cure and having to change to be accepted by society. I liked the emotional arc of his character in the movie.
It's a pity he wasn't just marketed as that though instead of misleading us into thinking that he becomes a member of the team and kicks mutant ass. He was a sympathetic character in X3 and a symbol of liberation.
