Were you into the Guardians comics?
Oh yeah, actually more the earlier guys. That's more my time. I like the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning run [referred to by fans as 'DnA', and the basis for the movie team] a lot and I think it's the best, quality wise, but I like the original team a lot.

I honestly love this movie endlessly. It's the perfect introduction to the Marvel Cosmic universe and really, really, really makes me reconsider how I view Marvel movies. It has so much heart, so much action, and so so so so so so so so much humor that I can't even begin to word how much I loved this movie. This movie made me look at The Avengers in a "Is that it?" scale. I loved The Avengers, I still do, but Guardians does so much more for me. This actually felt like a big epic action adventure, not a movie shot to look like a made for TV movie. Also, the effects are mind blowing and this movie holds one of my favorite shots of all time.

the one criticism i can't take seriously is when people compare Ronan to Malekith.
Ronan was far more intimidating and actually had a personality...

He really didn't have any depth and his motivations weren't really explored, so I can see the comparison. But yeah, unlike Malekith, Ronan had a commanding presence and seemed quite intimidating. I thought he was a more than serviceable villain.
