I didn't like BDT's look as the Collector at all in the Thor credits scene. It actually looked very cheap. The girl who introduces him seemed out of place. Everything else so far has looked good, but this gives me pause. It also looked like it was filmed at a higher frame rate, which is why it looked less cinematic.

Eh, I think the look is calculated to be old-school space opera. I think Gunn is trying deliberately to evoke sci-fi of the 60s-80s, including Star Trek TOS, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, and OT Star Wars. Space opera back then was fun and swashbuckling, and that looks to be exactly what we're (thankfully) gonna get in GOTG.

Source? I like and don't like a lot of things. I even said in the post you quoted that I've liked everything I've seen so far about Guardians except for the Thor scene.

Wouldn't be surprised to see an Iron Man cameo, given his inclusion in the current run of GOTG and the fact that an "Iron Man" (presumably the GOTG comic suit) is listed among the GOTG toy line.

I'm also still interested to see if that puzzling rumor from months ago about Rhomann Dey being an attache to SHIELD pans out or not. The site that reported it got it right that John C. Reilly would land the role, and would be Rhomann Dey, but it also described his role as "a human liaison to SHIELD."

It seems like all of a sudden I'm really hyped for this movie. I've been looking forward to it pretty much since it was announced, but it's currently poised as arguably my most anticipated film of 2014.

I feel like it's gonna be a risky prospect. Don't ask me why, but I feel like this will be a film of no middle ground, it's not going to get a mild reaction either way. Gunn seems to be going out-there and swinging for the fences, and so I'm thinking this film will either be a massive disaster or a resounding success and something really special. I'm hoping for the latter, and I feel like momentum is currently pointing towards that being the case. I can't wait until we get the first full trailer for a better idea of what to expect.

It would be so foolish to not have this movie be hilarious. And I'm sure the two riskiest characters, Groot and Rocket, will have the ability to both win our hearts and then break them in some way by the end.
