Guardians of the Galaxy

If you find it and you have some time, give us a synopsis. The bits I've been able to glean from Wikipedia about how the original Guardians series ended and where the characters were left is a bit confusing.

The original GotG, then.

Hey, a question for those more versed in GotG/New Warriors history than I: Does Justice know that he eventually leads the Guardians of the Galaxy as Major Victory in another reality? Do the rest of the New Warriors (like, say, Nova) know?

I'm pretty sure that they have met, and it was pretty clear that the timeline's were divergent and that the events in GotG would not happen to justice. GOTG vance was not going by the "major victory" name when this storyline happened, in fact im pretty sure 616 Vance had not manifested his mutant powers yet. I forgot the issue of this storyline but i'll look for it.

I don't know if the other Warriors knew about him, but I'd say some did, especially NOVA.

The son of Quasar and Kismet who seemed to know everything because, as it turned out, he was stuck reliving his own life over and over in some weird loop.

I think at some point he merged with his wife into one being or something, too.

My bud, phoenixfrc from the Quantum.org Zone Forums answers this:

"Due to an accident (or the manipulation of the Hawk God) Aleta and Stakar (step brother and sister, no blood relation) became transformed into energy and was then made into one composite being with powers from the Hawk God. They became the being known as Starhawk but only one of them could exist in the same time/space. Similar to Mar-Vell and Rick Jones but not exactly. They actually have become separated and rejoined more than once but not always in the same way.

The reason he is also called "The One Who Knows" is because he keep re-experiencing his life over and over again due to hi consciousness being sent back to his infant body. He retains most of the memories every time and has lived through many divergent timelines so he can usually predict what's going to happen because he's already seen it happen before (similar to the movie Groundhog Day I guess) but things can always change unpredictably so he is not always accurate."

That would blow my mind, but I think it's a bit too deep into relatively obscure continuity to be the basis for Starhawk's involvement here.

I don't know, I looked it up on Wikipedia when I remembered that Quasar was somehow connected to Starhawk. Logic would dictate that it was most likely either in Quasar's series or the Guardians of the Galaxy series, though.

Pretty much all information about Starhawk comes from the Guardians of the Galaxy series where we find out in the final issues that Stakar is the son of Wendell and Kismet/Her.

Here's the brief:
Starhawk is Quasar's son. Basically, when the Martians were attacking Earth, Quasar was being all heroic and stuff and Kismet was helping him (they had got together previously) she gets knocked up. She passes out right after she tells him, so he quantum-jumps them across the galaxy to get her away from the fighting and leaves her with some space nuns. He goes to jump back and keep fighting but is weak from fighting, miscalculates and is killed by The Abrogate. Kismet has the baby, but it is taken immediately after its birth by Eon (actually Era disguised as Eon) so that she never even saw it. Kismet swore off using her powers and became a space nun. Starhawk learns all of this in a very convoluted way which eventually ends with Starhawk and Kismet teaming up against Era. Eventually the Hawkgod shows up and sends everyone on there way.

I'm guessing that I didn't remember this because it's a pretty lame way to end a series.

Thanks, DBM. That is kind of a lame way to end the series.

So they were joined most of the time, in fact? Huh. I wonder if that'll factor into the new Guardians of the Galaxy. Will it be just Stakar, or will he have Aleta tagging along in his head or the Negative Zone or whatever? Damn, I can't wait for the new series.

I can't wait for the Pelletier art. He's been great so far on Nova.

The Hawk God once and for all separated Stakar and Aleta making Stakar the only Starhawk so she may not be involved at all. I wouldn't mind if she was though.

I wonder if the Hawk God'll have some role in getting Stakar back to the present. He's not supposed to be born for years yet, unless his birth happened a long time ago in this reality, somehow.

Starhawk I believe can travel through time anyway so whether the Hawk God will be seen or not we'll have to see. I don't see why not since Stakar gets his powers from him in the first place.

Quasar's family tree seems to be just about as stupid and convoluted as Cyclops' (well...not quite).

Convoluted though they may be, I like both of their trees. They're fun if you know about them, and they're the kind of thing you could only see in comics. :)

Why do you say that? Basically I mean back up your statement with why exactly it seems stupid and convoluted because it doesn't seem to be to me.
Thanks. Just curious.

Back up my statement?

Just reading this should be enough:

And then you add in the whole "Starhawk The Hermaphrodite thing"...:hehe:

First off, ewww, it wasn't like that. They always existed in their own bodies...they didn't mix like THAT...gross.

Second, what comic character's background do you feel is not stupid and convoluted?

I know.

Come on, man. Just laugh (or not) and move on.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, moving on...

I'm new so give me some time to get used to the brand of humor in here :)

Taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellboy

During a visit to Bromwich Church (the place of his "birth"), Hellboy learned of his parentage: he was conceived some 300 years earlier by a witch, Catherine Tanner-Tremaine, and a demon Prince of Sheol. Hellboy did not exist as a baby in the real world at this point in time; the prince's 'favorite son' was a power waiting to be born. Hellboy's "Mother" also had children, a nun and a priest who now haunt the church, dying in an attempt to stop the demon from claiming their mother on her deathbed.

Nah, that's not convoluted at all :whatever:
LOL

Technically in the GoG timeline Starhawk was born around 2002 I think. But since Quasar and Kismet didn't get together in the main reality (at least not to the degree they did in GoG) he shouldn't have been born at all.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with this. Will Starhawk be the Starhawk from the GoG divergent future or will he be a "brand new" Starhawk with only very small ties to the other? Maybe the Hawkgod decided that the mainstream reality needed a Starhawk for some reason.

I think it'll have to be the Starhawk from the alternate future. Otherwise, what's the point of not only taking Starhawk's name but also designing this "new" Starhawk to have all of the major iconography from the original? Plus, DnA said their GotG would have ties to the original. I think it's gonna be the Starhawk we know. Some incarnation of him.

Keep in mind we have already seen Captain America's shield on the cover of issue 2...which may in fact be the shield used by major victory in the future, since i'd doubt that we will have it be the actual 616 shield from the current cap.

But I hope that doesnt mean Vance Astro of the future is toast.

Well all they have to do is get the 2 shields together to see if they repel each other. Then we'll know if the other shield is the same one from GOTG.
