They should've gone for a Chinese cast, get real technical with it.
Are you implying that there are no darker skinned actresses from the Middle East that deserved the role? Come on.Does a studio have a moral duty "give" a role to someone based on skin color or should it be earned by someone deserving of the role?
I doubt Scott was cast simply because she is lighter skinned. Do you have an example of a darker skinned arab actress with a similar pedigree to Scott?

everywhere I go these days I see people crying out about representation and ive gotten sick of it. At first I sympathized but now its getting ridiculous.
I think Scott looks perfect for Jasmine and I know she will do a great job, I've always thought Agrabah was a fusion of India and the Middle East anyway. At first they complain about whites taking POC roles and now they are getting uber technical and scrutinizing POC choices. These people are just cannibalizing themselves.
I like to call them social justice warriors, they think they're standing for something but are really just being nitpicky. I like Naomi Scott as Jasmine she looks ethnic enough, as long as they didn't get kristen stewart its all good.
She is gorgeous.Glad that Naomi Scott was cast as Jasmine. She was a Disney actress before anyway, so they've stayed in house.

Not so sure about Guy Ritchie directing this though. I haven't liked any of his movies.
I have to say that Naomi Scott doesn't necessarily look Arabian/ Middle Eastern though. She can do, but she could also look Romanian.
She is gorgeous.
Any idea when filming is scheduled to start?

Marwan Kenzari is in talks for Jafar and Nasim Pedrad was also cast in the movie.
Except I'd rather do the wizard than the street rat.
