Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

Well, Jafar trying to get with Jasmine will be less creepy for some viewers. Is that a plus or a minus when it comes to the villain?

I don't know. In this day and age, I have to imagine female viewers won't be unfamiliar with the concept of a guy being both good looking and threatening.

Well, Jafar trying to get with Jasmine is supposed to be creepy. He is a villain, it's the whole point.

As long as he's still cruel, power-hungry, and ruthlessly ambitious, an attractive Jafar should work. He'd be no different than other attractive Disney villains such as Gaston or Hans.

The internet is not ready for the flood of Aladdin/Jafar slashfic that will soon inundate it.

I was talking about the original seemingly big age difference more than anything, but this version of Jasmine isn't 15 I imagine. I was joking about how Jafar is a dirty old man in the cartoon.

Wow Jafar is lush. I hope we see him get more roles after this.

Imagine how hot he is going to look with a pet parrot

Now just get Frank Welker to do Abu's vocals, some comedian for Iago, cast the Sultan, and bam. I'm trying to think who works for Iago who could act as manic as Gottfried did if they're still going to have him be a parrot or even in the movie.

How old is Jasmine meant to be in this movie?

Don't like Jaffar actor. He is too young! HATE IT!

HATE IT ALL!

Meh. I feel like you kinda need someone that can balance the drama and comedy the original had.

It looks like she also worked on the Shape of Water with Del Toro. Interesting.

Just hire the writers at Disney or Pixar. 85% of this will end up being a remake of the cartoon anyways :whatever:

But I will say, Jafar is hot, Aladdin on the other hand looks too much older than Jasmin. She looks like a kid next to him.

"Robbin the cradle" should be a new song exclusive to the live action version.

The Jafar actor almost looks younger than the Aladdin actor. This film should do well not just because of the brand but because the main actors are all major eyecandy. I wish they would've went much older for Jafar though.

Eh, it should be fine with a younger Jafar. Seeing how young this new guy is just reminded me of those things I mentioned about the original. They have to make it their own thing of course. Otherwise you'l have people who will say the film has no good reason to exist.

They'll say that regardless. Like someone said earlier it takes away some (not all) of the creep factor by him not being an older man hitting on Jasmine. But I'm still excited to see what they've got going on.

Someone is gonna say the inevitable, "maybe she needs to get with Jafar over Aladdin" line.

I misread that comment and omitted one J. :o

This is a guy Ritchie Aladdin film so expect a cockney street hustling Aladdin who tells rapidly edited stories about his crime capers. King Arthur got the same treatment.

Surely they would be mad no to to get Aziz Anzari for Iago?
