Oh hai.

Yay Naomi :hrt:. Aladdin's pretty cute too :fhm:.

I wonder if Genie will rap "Prince Ali" or "You Ain't Ever Had a Friend Like Me". I don't think I'd like that.

Naomi Scott always has me weak in the knees, so I'm glad she got the role! Really liked her in Power Rangers.

I like this cast so far.I really was hoping Will Smith be the Genie. Now we wait to see who is Jafar.

Haha didn't I tell you! All that drama online turned out to be false.

The internet needs to say 10 hail walts and light some incense to Mickey Mouse after all that drama

No one can replace Robin Williams (as we saw in Return of Jafar). The man was one of a kind and his comedy worked because HE made it work.

Their best bet, and I think that this is what they're going to do, is to go in a very different direction with the Genie.

It's funny-but while I think Will Smith is a decent choice, I would like to see Chris Pratt as the Genie. I think he'd be a little more "goofy fun" than what will probably turn out to be "Will Smith being sassy again."

Yeah his Instagram is a thirst trap.

The best thing about Smith as Genie is that he's completely different from Williams and yet still in that "Force of nature" category, With Guy Ritchie and Smith being on this it's really going to be different, for better or worse. I imagine people won't see redundancy as an issue here, like some have with Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.

By casting Will Smith, they're going closer to Howard Ashman's vision of the Genie which is more a Fats Waller/Cab Calloway which the Broadway version is like.

It'll be interesting if Abu is kept, Iago could easily be a human but bringing in Aladdin's three friends who were cut from the animated film but retain in the stage version would work as well.

People were complaining about redundancy with Jungle Book? I thought it was vastly different from the animated version.

Yeah, I saw it quite a bit online. The most notable person being Doug Walker.

I feel like I once read Williams speaking negatively about Hollywood just getting actors for voice roles who don't know how to truly voice act, including people like Smith.

Robin Williams was a genius, but Aladdin was dubbed in many languages by plenty of other actors, equally as genius sometimes, and while results of course were varied, some were as bit as good as he was. So he is very much replaceable. He already was. And the Genie is as loved and sucesfull in many other languages as he is in english.

People having dificulties hearing somebody else in the role after yeras of experiencin that one can be understood, but thats more to do with them and less with the Genie recast.

Again, Robin Williams was a genius, but he wasnt the beginning and end of anything.

It's not like this will just be a voice role, though. I'd be shocked if he wasn't a physical presence on some level.

Visually it's damn good casting. I just hope they can sing well and don't have to rely a lot on autotune and post-processing.

I don't know anything about Massoud but he has a good look for Aladdin....and not a bad look in general.

He looks a bit older than I would've wanted and I don't really know him but I really hope this turns out good. I like that they aren't just sticking to the animated movie in terms of story.
