very excited to see the costumes
i loved the simplicity of their animated designs

That's what I'm looking forward to seeing, too. The costumes. To see how much they changed and how much they kept the same.

I'm not familiar with the lead actor, but I hope he'll look more like Aladdin closer to filming. Maybe he'll grow his hair out by then?

I'm just reeeeeeeeeeeally curious how the Genie is going to look. Because the animated Genie kind of slightly had a mild resemblance to Robin Williams (mostly the nose and giant smile) but he was also blue and changed shape/form constantly. So I'm wondering if this Genie will look at all like Will Smith, if he'll be blue, or what. I am pumped for this because I love this animated movie, but I honestly can't picture a live-action Genie.

Did it take them an abnormally long time to find these leads?

No one ever answered this. Were they late in pre-production before they found their leads? What were all those headlines about?

This was one of my top Disney animated classics ever. Really hope they can do it justice.

Ghassan Massoud for Jafar.

That didn't take long.

On one hand, there's a point to be made there, on the other, at least she isn't being played by Emma f***ing Stone.

And tbh I was just really turned off the whole thing when I looked on Tumblr and one of the first posts I saw was "WHY IS JASMINE WHITE THO?" If you wanna project some sort of woke image for yourself, maybe don't dismiss an entire half of someone's identity to suit your outrage at a fairy tale movie.

Everybody goes straight for white t'challa
As 2Kt09 said, "fictional-characters.gif"

You make it sound like this is unheard of but Hollywood cast a white actress to play Major Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell.

This stuff's never not going to be petty to me. It's weird enough these remakes have to happen by the same company, but now Scott can't pretend to be this fictional character hailing from an obviously stereotypical fictional world because her real-life ethnicity doesn't match up. Wake me up when the 2 leads need prosthetic noses.

Actually, I'll be there for the possible outrage of her outfit.

I'm glad they didn't whitewash the leads unlike some other films.

oh, and is this supposed to be a musical like Beauty and Beast?

do we know if Aladdin and Jasmine actors have musical backgrounds?
