Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

I dunno. Almost all the live-action updates have been hugely successful, including the first Alice in Wonderland.

And let's be honest, most of them were fairly mediocre.

I think Dumbo will for sure.

Idk.

Dumbo has Eva Greene, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Danny Devito. And its directed by Burton whom a lot of filmgoers like.

Aladdin has Will Smith playing a ****ty cgi Genie, and a bunch of unknown, unproven non-white actors. Oh and its directed by Guy Richie whom the average film goer doesnt know or care about. At best the average film goer knows or will hear that the director of Aladdin also directed that terrible King Arthur film.

I think Will Smith will get butts in seats opening weekend, but I expect it will drop like a rock in week 2 and beyond if it's another King Arthur dumpster fire. With Dumbo I can see it having a modest opening weekend, and with good word of mouth steadily accruing a nice box office.

I don't think the general audience cares about the unproven actors; they're young, attractive, and resemble their animated counterparts for the most part in a popular Disney franchise. Not enough people saw King Arthur to even care about Guy Ritchie. They just see Disney's Aladdin with Will Smith as the Genie. Come May, they'll be eating it up. For how long? We'll see.

I just can't see Dumbo being on Aladdin's level. Financially speaking, at least. And do people, espeially children, care about the cast of Dumbo that much? Great actors, but how much pull are they really bringing to Dumbo? Critics care about that. Children look at the movie and are fascinated by the elephant, not the cast. At least Will attempts to stay appealing to children, he even has an animated movie coming out this year. And visually, Dumbo doesn't have the pull of Alice, Charlie, or even Peregrine. We can already see that while Dumbo might have a certain avant garde, artistic flair, it doesn't visually "pop" like Aladdin seems to be doing. Not a lot of noticeably bright colors.

Aladdin is better name value then Dumbo, Burton and the cast combined. Especially for 80s/90s kids with little ones.

I didn't say it wouldn't be successful I said it would gross the least

Oh right, I had forgotten about Dumbo. I wonder what the budget for Dumbo is compared to Aladdin. One has more name actors but the other probably requires much more CGI.

I mean technically the least would be Through the Looking Glass.
...
Come on man. Look at the post I quoted and agreed with. You even quoted it
"Of all the Disney remakes and sequels this year, I think this will make the least."
And I said "I agree"

Okay, that does look better.

What is up with the giant bird, though. Is that a roc? Wrong Arabian Nights tale, dude.

Oh screw it, im in...i like it.
There i said it.
Im fine with how Genie looks, im fine with all the actors, the cgi and everything...sign me up for this.

The highest praise I can give that trailer is that it's better than the previous one, but that wouldn't have been to hard to do, even with the inclusion of A Whole New World. Otherwise, still not really sold on this one.

I'm still not digging Jafar. There's nothing sinister about him, either in looks or voice. Also I still feel a blandness and lack of charisma from Aladdin. He and Jafar both kind of come off like cosplayers.

I am digging Will Smith's Genie after seeing more of him, and Jasmine looks like she might be okay.

Well it's colorful. I'm assuming Iago either doesn't talk or just mimics or something.

The last one didn't :p

I would've made Genie blue, but otherwise it's cool.

Im on board, needed a trailer kin to the lion king with nostaglia to bring it together and the cgi for genie looks improved.

Jasmine's singing voice is nice but I am not sold on this actor playing Aladdin from these trailers at all. It's like they're making a point to shoot around him and that's never a good sign.

Damn, that actually looked pretty cool. I mean I tore this movie to shreds after the first teaser, but this actually looks good.
