I don't really remember Jafar's race being mentioned in the film so any color is fine for me. The guy played Jafar also is white I believe.

If we go with black actor, I still see a lot of potential choices: Barkhad Abdi, Dev Patel,etc.

Anyone but the one they chose. He just looks wrong for the part.

It’s in a Middle Eastern country and his name is Jafar, he’s Middle Eastern.

Also Marwan Anzari who plays Jafar is not white. He was born in the Netherlands but his family is Tunisian.

Not feeling the little I heard of the Smith remix of A Friend Like Me. A Whole New World sounds solid though.

There are things I like. And things I'm not sold on. Like giant Iago monster.

Dev Patel seems like a solid choice. At least better than the current guy. He's just too attractive for the role.

The weakest links are actor playing Aladdin and actor playing Jafar, both are miscast.

I could see Dev Patel as Aladdin, actually. Sure some would gripe he’s British of Indian descent and not Arab, and I don’t know if he can sing, but he’s got a lot of energy and likability.

Jafar should be quite a bit older than Jasmine, casting anyone close to her in age feels miscast imo.

Looks great. The Genie mocap isn't great (why do CGI companies have such a hard time animating arms? The arm movement NEVER looks good in a full CGI humanoid character) but that's not a deal breaker.

Why are you guys still complaining about the casting of Aladdin and Jafar when the movie is two months away? It's ridiculous.

The second trailer looks much better, following the basic outline from the movie but thankfully giving it its own flair. The 2019 "A Whole New World" sounds amazing.

Jafar looks nothing like the old one but he is decent IMO. I can see why they went with a younger more handsome Jafar. Jafar back then was straight up creepy and easily labelled as the bad guy from the get go, not hard to side with Jasmine who hated him in great part due to his physicality but this version of him can be more of a challenge for Aladdin not because he's menacing but because he's a manipulative prick who's apparence don't really match his intentions.

Will is gonna kill it. His scenes are really working for me.

I wonder if Jafar has a secret relationship with Jasmine's handmaiden. Like, she's Jafar's eyes and ears within the palace. Then Jafar promises that after he marries Jasmine, she'll be murdered shortly after and the handmaiden will take her place as queen. That would be an interesting twist.
