Clancy Brown as Lobo? Comic2film at Mania.com reports a source close to the production suggests the actor could take on the part. "Wouldn't he be awesome? I think he'd knock it out of the park," says their source. There is also some talk about Lobo being a CGI creation or a mixture of disciplines.

Mania: Clancy Brown mentioned in Lobo casting

Not gonna get excited, not gonna get excited... He would be perfect, but that's it, it's not gonna be perfect.

HOLY CRAP!! :wow:

To Good to be True... Talk about off the radar!!!

I'm with you Nivek... too hard not to gt excited!! :awesome:

Mixture of disciplines? Sounds bad. Destro's head in GI Joe comes to mind. As good as some CGI has gotten, Lobo doesnt seem like the kind of movie to get an Avatar like special effects budget

I agree there's really no need whatsover.... He is very Humanoid I don't see why and CGI would need to be applied

clancy rumor was talked about on the other page. Though it would be interesting if he was picked. I personally want to see an actually actor/stunt actor play the role with makeup to look like said character. Though if they dont have the bulk maybe go hellboy style in a full posthestic suit/makeup.

50% off-topic but Lord of the Rings make-up is beyond awesome.

Think Lord of the Rings CGI/ Make-up combo's more than Summers awful G.I. Joe.

Why? Theres no way Lobo is going to be considered in the same realm of Lord of the Rings. LOTR is the Lawrence of Arabia of the blockbuster, Lobo, based on its premise, would be lucky to be considered close to the awful GI Joe. I also would argue that outside of the occasional height differentiation, CGI did not play a huge part in creating the major humanoid players as they are implying they would do for Lobo.

Question - anyone know to what extent CG enhancments to the Hellboy muscle suit and prosthetics were used?

If they did some CG enhancements to Hellboy's muscle suit I'd be disappointed

i think hellboy himself was just full on makeup and suit and only cgi is like when he was fighting said creatures and it was a cgi model and not ron/stunt guy. I think doug jones suits had more cgi enhancements to them. But like i said i would be happy either for an actual actor/stunt guy to be very tall and bulk and just need makeup to look like lobo then going total cgi for lobo which would be a total waste of time and money.

I dont think either Hellboy or Abe had CGI enhancements except occasionally when they were doing action scenes

Yeah, yeah -- I think you're right. If I remember right, in the extras they show that only underwater-Abe and action-Hellboy were fully CGI.

The only CG used with Doug Jones as Abe in both HELLBOY films was his eye-blink, and certain sequences underwater. The rest was entirely prosthetic design. Both Ron and Doug's suits were as you see them - and having stood next to both of them on the set of HBII, I can assure you that they were astonishing.

In HBII much of the stunt work for Ron was done by either himself or his stunt double, Marcus White, and the Elemental sequence where Hellboy climbs the side of a building by jumping onto a sign was done by a gymnast. There wasn't a great deal of CG for either Ron or Dougie in the fight sequences.

All the underwater sequences, I'd say.

You didn't get to see the dvd extras?

apparently not. although i guess u would have to say when he fought Sammael. In the museum the first time there was a lot of obvious CGI, in the train station it looked significantly less CGi

well hopefully once the film does shape up more guy will at least talk with lobo's creators and/or bring them into the production. Heck they should also at least be in a cameo for the film.
