Lobo can pretty much be done via makeup, but CG can be added for the glowy eyes and the possible height addition.

totally i rather go hellboy style for lobo with actor/stunt actor in body suit. OR if they get a big guy to just have makeup and all that. Then yea some visual additions via cgi effects.

Why is it that a lot of people in the movie news business think that Lobo is blue? Lobo's skin tone is chalk white/light gray, with the blue tinge acting as shading.

That's what scares me - if something gets said often enough, people start to think it's true.

Let's hope DC smacks anyone in the production upside the head if they think the main man is blue.

well maybe they are doing it blue for filming wise who knows. They are still far from production so things could change.

Clancy Brown pretty much makes any movie he's in, so if he's on board, so am I.

To be honest, it doesnt really bother me if Richie helms Lobo or not; there are plenty of other talented guys that can take direct the movie so no problem there as far as I'm concerned.

If he does? Cool. If he doesnt? Oh well, move on to another candidate.

No, the most important thing for me is that the movie actually gets made.

sounds more like the contracts arnt signed which means anything can still happen

Want to start a list of directors who could make this movie?
Matthew Vaughn
Peter Berg
Roland Emmerich (king of PG13 mayhem)
Simon West (the B-list Michael Bay)

Simon West? Noooo. As you say, he's the B-List Michael Bay.

Matthew Vaughan's Layer Cake and Stardust were both really good, but I'm unsure about his ability to produce a big budget, tentpole movie such as this one. Especiallly given his track record for dropping out of movies in this genre.

Peter Berg would be a decent shout. He can do action and sfx and is a pretty competant director.

Emmerich? He'd be like a fish out of water. Lobo isnt a disaster movie...............;)

Alex Proyas however would rock the **** out of Lobo.

NEveldine and Taylor are the two I would consider ideal for the property. Comedy, intense action, surreal circumstances, and rugged and crazy protagonist

I think Emmerich would make Lobo as a 7-foot Godzilla with fun lines.
Really, I'd like to see him direct a movie that someone else wrote.
Wouòld Proyas be able to handle the comedic angle of the character?

Hmmmm, let's see - The Crow, Dark City, I Robot.

Next to no humour in any of them. Scratch the Proyas suggestion then. Not to say he doesnt have it in him, but the evidence against is compelling.

Berg basically made a Lobo-ish character in Hancock.

Looks like Richie's abit unsure about Lobo.

Good, I wasn't feeling it, given the studio mandated rating.

I'm not sure how the character would work in a stand alone movie, I always seen him in a cable series based on his time in L.E.G.I.O.N., with Vril Dox as a foil who constantly needs to cover for Lobo. You can't do what makes the character work in an origin movie.

was reading this last night. I agree i dont mind if guy does the film or not. I am curious to see if this happens or not. Cause i do want to see more dc guys get shots in the film world. As for studio wanting PG13 rating i dont see the real issue there. You can still do alot with a pg 13 rating.

Agreed. He could make a fantastic comic book movie, but this doesn't feel like the right fit for him.

C'mon. THe part in 'The Crow' when the crow pecked that chick's eyes out was hilarious.

He did an Aussie movie called 'Garage Days'. It's very funny, imo.
