Is this supposed to happen?? Peter's the main hero, I'm supposed to root for him all the way, but I found Harry far more interesting to watch than Peter this movie and I think James Franco is a better and more charismatic actor than Tobey McGuire. I was much more into Harry's struggle and eventual redemption than Peter's emo brat behavior...the development of Harry's character was what I liked most about the movie.

Anyone else feel the same?

^ Could that possibly be because Harry is the only conflict (other than MJ) that Peter's been dealing with since SM1? And everything else in SM3 Peter deals with is brand new?

No it has to do with the fact James Franco stole the show with his performance. Also Harry was the best written character of the whole movie.

 Tobey just wasn't that good, IMHO. His crying on the bridge made me want to laugh. Not a good sign.

I agree that James Franco's performance was excellent. Best written? I don't know about that... some may look at the amnesia thing as a cop-out... I, for one, am not one of them. I enjoyed it because it was somewhat similar with the comics.

I don't know why people are being so hard on Tobey, either. He displays more range in this film than he has in the two previous Spider-Man movies - he's happy, he's sad, he's angry, he's funny, he's romantic, he's arrogane, he's vengeful, and it does it all very well. All of the movies I've seen him in, he's always very genuine and sincere.

No. The whole Goblin jr. outfit took away from his character. It made him seem the least interesting to me.
Though ironically my favorite fight scene was Peter vs Harry in the mansion. But then again, he was wearing the suit under his clothes.

I said that before. New Goblin was the main star of SM3 for me. He overshadowed Spidey in the final battle

That is the part I disagree with.

He used to have a sympathetic quality about him, and even though I felt his character wasn't what it should be, I still felt for his version of Peter. This time around, I felt nothing.

Like many others on this board have experienced, auditences laughed when Tobey cried. That was how terrible his perfomance was.

he just came across as an ass for no reason. The suit changing him didnt make it okay as the symbiote wasnt defined well itself. Even before all teh dark Peter stuff happened, he came across as insensitive when it came to MJ and was completely clueless to how he was acting. The fame and popularity kinda got to his head
