The Dark Knight Harvey Dent Threads Merged

He seems rugged, and we know he can be intimidating, which is why he'd make a fantastic Two-Face . . . . that's the most important thing; and he cleans up real good . . . anyone ever see his first American flick? Virtuosity w/ Densel Washington? Kind of a campy movie, and he played a cyborg, but he can look real clean cut if the role calls for it . . .

Anybody give any thought to Matthew McConaughy? It would be ironic if he got the role since he co-starred w/ Bale in Reign of Fire . . . .

He isn't a very good actor. He doesn't have much range otuside of the good natured handsome Southern boy. He can't go through one movie wiithout that accent of his. Ironically, these are the reasons I don't want Lucas. I'd probably go with Matthew over Lucas, though.

DV8, could you recite to me the definition of irony - and then explain how that fits in with the situation you've described?

It would be a cool coincidence - it has nothign to do with irony.

I feel it WOULD be ironic, as McConaughy played a rougue hero who later turned on Bale, if I remember correctly . . . . that movie kinda sucked, so I don't really remember . . . .

Just watched Kate and Leopold the other day and I must say that I am now more on the Schreiber bandwagon than ever before. While I dont want the character he plays in that movie be anything like a Schreiber Two-Face, it was a very different character than the one he played in the Manchurian Candidate - he did not have the emotionlessness of Liev's character in Manchurian Candidate and I wanted to see Liev play a character with more of a casual demeanor about him (especially after people said his character in the Omen was another character lacking emotion).

Basically what I am saying is:

Niiiice.

Hey welcome back Norm! I no I'm not a big poster over here anymore,(or one at all for that matter) and I've tried, its just that I've been GLUED to Spiderman 3 lately. So maybe you've been back for a while and I just haven't noticed it.

See, I wanna see more movies of Schreiber so I can even better defend my backing of him as Dent, but I dont think I could bring myself to watch Kate and Leopold. I'm just not brave enough.

Exactly why I don't like Liev that much as Dent. People just like him because he looks like Dent. I've only seen him be emotionless, which is easy for anyone to do.

But didn't Norman just go on to talk about how Schreiber was NOT emotionless in Kate and Leopold. Schreiber's an actor, he acts how his character should act. If he's playing cold, emotionless character, he's cold and emotionless. Norm is saying that Kate and Leopold proves he can do the opposite. So I dont see what the problem is.

I know, I haven't seen Kate and Leopold, but I was just saying that any actor can play their character well if their character is emotionless.

I don't know if I want to watch Kate and Leopold, but before I become a Schreiber supporter, I need to see some acting chops. Harvey is a big role, and very complex.

Was Schreiber in Kate and Leopold? When I read you guys talking about that movie, I thought you were originally talking about Hugh Jackman's potential for Dent. :O

Watch the Scream movies. He's great in them.

As is, you know, Patrick Dempsey. :D

Its not bad - even though it is a little amusing to see Wolverine and Harvey Dent in a romantic movie :)

Yea - Schreiber plays Meg Ryan's ex and the guy that brings Leopold into this time - its by no means a great movie, but it was worth seeing just to see Schreiber have a character with emoition. He is actually quite likeable and it showed me that he can play the cocky, loveable Harvey Dent I want to see.

LOL! :D

where are those "dammit!" manips? around this stage of BB pre-prod this place was already raining BALE DAMMIT! manips :p

Just so that I do not offend anyone I am saying right now for the record that I DID NOT make that pic - it came from a poster on this board whose name escapes me at the moment.

I thought Liev play Meg Ryan's brother, not ex. At least I remeber it was brother & sister, not ex.

My choice for Dent is Joaquin Phoenix. I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been said about him, but he's a fantastic actor and I think he really looks the part. I can just see in my mind a scene where Phoenix as Two-Face flips his coin in slow-motion.

Yeah he will be great choice if Nolan cast him as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Batman 2.

Welcome to Batman boards  :)

I completley agree with you Mr. Dent.

Pheonix is my second choice right now -

1. Schreiber
2. Pheonix
3. Gyllenhaal
4. Meloni

He's not un-handsome, I think. Plus, he's got that rage thing down pat - watch as Two Face launches a telephone at a surprised Batman!

Still, on the whole "Guy Pearce as Two Face" rumour, I actually get to interview the guy for a magazine for his work in the upcoming "The Preposition", and you can bet I'm going to see if I can squeeze a few Christopher Nolan and Batman questions in.

make sure you ask specifically about him playing a lawyer Harvey Dent or turns into a villain named Two Face. And ask him if he would like to work with Nolan again.
