I like the iron spider suit...
...as an enema for Tony Stark...
but who wouldn't like a suit that changes it's look by thinking about that look... Look at Eddie Brock... he had something similar and look what it got him... Slit wrists and stuck in a hospital bed... till next year when the symbiote will conviniently dump Gargan for Brock...
At least the symbiote looked cool... but still I'd buy an Iron Spidey action figure... I'd place it in the hall of SHAME!!! next to scuba diving Spidey...

And safari Spidey & soccer Spidey.

I don't mind it so much because I know it's only temporary...

...it doesn't look BAD IMO...it's just not Spider-Man.

Well Safari, Soccer, and Scuba diving aren't that bad compared to Tool spidey... I'm hoping for uberlame action feature on this baby... The SMC one not the overpriced MS or the bust...

I love it how Wallace bumps his own threads when they get pushed back a page.

anyone seenthe "karate spidey" action figure from the spider -man &friends collection even THAT WOULD LOOK BETTER THAN THE SIDEKICK SUIT:ninja:

Never saw that one. Hell, I complained about the "House Of M" suit & I'd take even THAT over the sidekick suit.

Oh, wait-I just remembered; I HAVE seen that monstrosity.

It's not that bad.

And besides, it's probably going to be gone in about a month or so. In the December solicitations, the covers to Sensational and Friendly Neighborhood have him in the classic red and blues.

How much you wanna bet that the next issue of ASM he ditches the Iron Spidey suit, or ditches it in Civil War # 5. As a matter of fact he probably won't "ditch it". It'll probably be ripped piece by piece from him after I saw that cover to Civil War # 5.

The suit served it's purpose and everybody knew it was temporary, it's almost over haters.

thank goodness for that
now if the'd just end this SHRA crap:ninja:

actually SIAT it's not over... It EXISTED That is enough excuse to complain about it for at least 40 more years... Gwen died a long time ago and people still complain about her death... (OK this is probably cause of the Norman Banging, Goblin Babies crap, but people still complain) Heck some Star Wars fans used to complain about the Ewoks until the alien fiend with jamaican-like accent appeared... now Ewoks aren't that bad... To stop the sidekick suit complains, we need an even bigger piece of Quesada's homebrewn crap... And it seems that it's always chili&beans night at the Quesada residence...

And what purpose was that? To needlessly annoy us w/an unjustifiable eyesore? To prepare us for the mindless changes to come?
And a "hater", by definition, badmouths something/someone for the sake of badmouthing. This costume, like the events leading up to & following it, was bad. Painfully bad. The damn thing was just ugly. Worse than all the needless costume changes of the 90's put together.

it's interesting how this is still a topic for debate. I really think it's obvious by now that the Iron Spidey Suit was just a plot piece for the Civil war story line. Something to bond the relationship between Tony and Pete more. It most definetly will be gone after CW.

or at least I hope so.

I do have one queston about it though, and I hadn't relaizd this before. Why does it have 3 legs on the back? Instead of 4? Why is it an odd number? Seems strange.

Amazing Spider-Man #535 is pointing in the right direction, that the suit was only meant to be an unnecessary plot device, to the storyline itself. I'm quite sure Tony gave him the suit, not to protect Peter in combat, but to monitor him...

Ugh, 40 more years of hearing, wah wah wah, sidekick suit, wah wah wah, Iron Man's lackey, wah wah wah. :whatever: :oldrazz: :oldrazz:

The event leading up to it was bad, I'll agree. I, however, enjoyed the suit for what it served and what it's lead up to right now. Minus the three useless arms on the back it's not that bad of a costume.

See? I told you we'd find a middle ground.

without the doc ock imitation the sidekick suit DOESlook better i can see that

I don't like anything about it. The symbol is atrocious. I don't like that color scheme on him. The metallic sheen just isn't him. I don't like the eyes. I REALLY hate the Wonder Woman bracelets. I can't think of one good thing to say about it.

Yep. And like Arach Knight suggested, to monitor him.
I kinda figured this all along. I mean red and gold...How egotistical of Stark.
To me, it's been interesting to watch Stark slowly become a semi-bad guy. It can easily be retconned (just like the Iron Spidey suit) and no doubt will be (Wow, Foggy Nelson was dead for 5 whole months!)...

Interesting temporary change is all we can realistically hope for, I'm afraid.

I don't view Tony Stark as a bad guy. In all honesty, I view him as perhaps the most realistic character in the Marvel universe. Sure Spider-Man leads the sh***y life regular joes like us lead. Sure Captain America has no super powers, and neither does the Punisher. Iron Man however...he exhibits something that is very much human. Selfishness. He's an alcohlic, a control freak, and is primarly concerned with himself. The original armor was designed to save his own life (justfiable) and from there, it mainly served as a tool, to prevent industrial espionage against his own corporation. Ultimately, Stark is the example of what a real human would likely do, if given that kind of power.

The element of what makes a hero, is rarely discussed in comic books. Heroes are always made who they are, by some catstrophe, accident or tragedy. Very rarely on their own volition, and even then....nobody bothers to ask the important question. Just what is their motive? Do they do heroic actions, or are they a heroic person? Superman for instance, is obviously a heroic person. Time and time again, powers or not, he has proven that he is willing to fight as a champion for the cause of good. But then you have somebody like Booster Gold. Who does heroic things, but I would hardly call him a hero (even in light of his recent death and how that happened). Booster Gold cut promos, and did all kinds of marketing. His very costume became advertising space for sponsors, just proving what kind of person he truly is.

To that effect, i'll make my point. Tony isn't a villain. In some ways, he is characteristically not even a jerk. To us he is, beacuse he is doing a number of disagreeable things. But as a person, he is just being human. He is protecting his own head, and seeking his own glory. The actions are good...but the person is not. And I think that is a highly over looked element of story telling, in almost every comic book. The idea of the man who does good deeds, but isn't truly good themselves. Or even a man who does bad deeds, but are truly good themselves (such as Spawn). It's something to think about people...especially with this story.
