im not a Prince fan. lets get out of the way. ok, so i just went on itunes and i couldnt help it, i bought the songs Partyman and Trust, and i cant stop listening to them!! they fit Joker so well, i feel like joker just listening to them, lol. those songs really fit his crazy pop-induced character well.

Princes soundtrack was #1 at its release and Batdance was #1 for a couple of weeks during the summer of 89.

I am a fan of Prince, he had a ton of hits. He may be eccentric, but he is a good musician.

Scandalous is the best of that set. Danny Elfman actually utilized some of the notes from the song for his Batman theme.

they've been growing on me as well lately. I love party man and scandelous

Party Man is a classic now. I have to say though, my favorite song in the movie is the song during the parade
Prince- Trust, I think it is?

I remember listening to the soundtrack quite a bit back in '89 and especially every year a Batman sequel made it's debut. "The Future", "Partyman", "Trust", "Scandelous", and "Bat Dance" are my favourites. Although I do kinda like the Vicki Vale song, "Vicki's Waiting" or whatever.

The songs are pure eighties pop but they are eternally funky as all Prince songs are.

Electric Chair, Partyman, Trust, and Batdance are the only ones I really like, but they're extremely awesome.

prince owns. but back in '89 i didnt really dig the musical montages so much. loved the batdance video with brain bolland tattoos and batchicks running around. and prince made an awesome rock and roll joker. i have since grown to love them and definately think they feel right at home with the exaggerated tone of the film.

My faves were Scandalous and Partyman. I do wish they put "Dance with the Devil" on the CD, though. :csad:

That soundtrack kicked ass. It's still fun to listen to, and it brings back a lot of great memories.

You need this CD if your a Batman fan. I had the casette tape as a kid, and just recently bought the CD a few months back. It really is a solid soundtrack.

'89 Batman and BF have some killer soundtracks.

The Prince songs are good in the context of the movie and the Joker's character but I wouldn't rush out and buy the CD just yet.

But the Batdance video rocks.

Yeah I don't get how the OP could 'Hate to admit it.' I mean I get he's not a Prince fan (how could you not be, the man is a musical genius -- even more so compared to todays 'artists') but c'mon...this is a Batman board; you're with friends here.

I love to admit that I love the '89 soundtrack. Even lesser songs like 'Arms of Orion' and 'Lemon Crush' play well. Hell I've got 'Batdance' on my Batman-Themed Myspace right now.

Great soundtrack. Prince's work on "Batman" is what got me into him; from there I checked out "Purple Rain" and eventually became a Prince fan. His music, Batman or otherwise, is always astounding to hear.

FLAT OUT...Prince is the man no doubt.

I thought Prince scene was a bit over-the-top but perfect considering it's the Joker. That scene wouldn't have worked with an Elfman score -- it simply needed lyrics to reinforce everything. Worked well. Bravo! :D

I like the movie's songs because of the way they were used on the film. But songs like Batdance have merely a nostalgic value for me now.

agreed. i actually made a "special edition" sdtk with the original songs to b-sides of the singles and "dance with the devil" on the first disc, and the remixes and the scandalous sex suite on the second disc. i think they need to re-release it like that for the 20th anniversary but prince and WB had a falling out, so i doubt that would ever happen.

i love the album, but i think the weakest cuts are "scandalous", "lemon crush", and "batdance", which i a good funk track, but the vocal samples make it corny.

I prefer "Face To Face" from BR to any of the Prince songs. But they are fun.

What do you think Princes best non batman songs are? I love all the songs from Purple rain its a great pure eighties movie and Appollonia was sexy personified. You also get to see great appearences from Wendy and Lisa, thier song "waterfall" is one of my all time faves.

oh yeah, same here. the Prince songs are simply for fun and cuz its joker, lol. but for a REAL good song, i much prefer the face to face poetic love stuff, its elfman inspired and fit the tone of the film well. and the music video was so hot, siouxie is such a fox in that vid.

I love the video, too. The video and the song both have that "mood" that is so delicious. I love how the song plays on that tragic scene with Bruce and Selina.

I hate Prince in general, so in B8 my sentiments aren't any different. "Face to Face" is a fantastic song, though. Dark, touching, disturbing, romantic in its own unique way.
