i dont ever redeem the digital copies of my movies. considering i have 400+ blu rays, maybe i should sell my digital copies
Same here. I love movies , but I don't love them so much where I have to buy another copy of a movie I just bought just to see it in a new format.Hell, I still haven't got any blu rays yet. I'm not opposed to them, but it's cheaper to get DVDs and they're still easy to find, so I don't feel the need to go out and re-buy all of my films and TV shows just to get them on blu ray.
Nope and I'll stick with Blu-Ray. I'm not upgrading my tv/player or movies just because of 4k. I don't see BD going anywhere anytime soon.
I think this is the first time I've actually heard someone say Blu-Ray is a dying format.
Arent torrents illegal?
Looks like Sony is going to incorporate 4K into their later Blu-Rays. This just came out yesterday:
"With the entire film industry now behind the Blu-ray video format, it seems we should expect to see any platform changes this year, but should hope to see Blu-ray introduce a UHD/4K delivery platform in 2014 to go with the televisions hitting the market this year." Click here to read more
This means you will have to buy a new suped-up Blu ray player, and a new TV to enjoy the benefits of 4K. I doubt software updates (except for maybe on the next Sony Videogame/Entertainment system) will suffice to display the new format, which will be 4x the resolution.
It seems to make more sense for me to digitize every movie I buy, put the movies on a server (Cloud) and access my digital content that way. When 4K comes out, the only thing I will need to upgrade is my TV, and won't need to buy more expensive players.
4K only has two meaningful purposes. One, for computer (monitor) use, and two, you'll finally be able to take high-quality screencaps that look like actual stills for wallpaper use or whatever.
I'm sticking to my Blu-rays, seems like Blu-ray is the "final" physical format for movies anyway... so if there's one thing to keep, it's all ya blus!
