Yes, gamers have seen better days. Hardware craps out left and right, prices continue to rise, game length continues to wither, talented studios continue to coalesce into these soulless corporate entities who design by focus group instead of by talent and imagination, the heavy hand of the ambulance chasers and nanny-state senators continues to grow in power, and more often than 5 years ago, mediocrity is held up as excellence simply because true gaming excellence has become so rare that people feel they need to settle. We could certainly be doing better.
