eXcellent movie!! Even though Bryan Singer was not the director it was great that he teamed up with Vaughn to deliver this classy prequel.
From the start in the nazi camp when Shaw places the coin in Eirc's hand, and the coin flips to show the other side with an X with music playing in the background one knows this movie won't disappoint.
It was a treat to see the powerful Hellfire Club depicted on the big screen even though those some of them are not the original members. I loved Kevin Bacon's self-confident, cunning, and intimidating interpretation of Sebastian Shaw, and I was very impressed with his amazing powers. If not for Xavier he would have killed a young and still inexperienced Magneto. Too bad that he had to die because imho he's one of the best villains of all X-men movies.
I'm not sure if Azazel is a founding member of HC, but I think he fit great given the name of the club. I know very little of this mutant, but I liked a lot this character and the sort of blades that he used to dispatch his enemies. Every scene he appeared in was badass.
I don't know why, but I think that I was most impressed with the characters and powers of the bad guys than those of firts class members. And I think the reason is the bad guys were older and more experienced with their attitude and powers and left a lasting impression.
Overall I enjoyed a lot the characters interactions and how the conflict played out between Xavier, Eric, Shaw, and Emma specially. In short I was in awe seeing the story unfold before me. Have seen it twice, and plan to see it again.
Here is hoping that Vaughn and Singer continue doing more movies like this one.
