I don't really see what you mean here. Neither looks all that young, especially when you have Sansa and Arya to compare them to.So odd to see her that old when she is supposed to be so much younger, like Dany.

The actual ages of some of these characters are ridiculously young, and then they're even younger in the books lol.
Yeah I definitely prefer them a bit older. I was trying to keep track of some of the stated ages. I think I remember in season 1 Bran being said to be 10, Sansa 13 & Robb 17 (think I'd prefer 12, 15 & 21/22). Is that right? So I guess Arya would be 11 or 12 and Rickon is maybe 7? Is Jon supposed to be older/younger or same age as Robb? And Theon? It will be fun watching the kids grow throughout the seasons, like Harry Potter.. but better. The actual ages in the show are whatever they are portrayed as or what is stated. In the show Jon is at least 19. Dany is in her 20s. Etc. If it isnt stated then you can use the actor or actresses age for reference.
I know in the books kids age faster, but thats never been established in the show so it doesnt exist in the show. These are normal young adults. Not people in their early teens.

Unless they changed something, Jon is older then Robb, but not by much. In the book, baby Jon was at Winterfell before Cat got there.I figure Robb is maybe a year or two older than Jon. Theon seems like the youngest of the three or about Jon's age.
Sansa's age in mentioned in the pilot. I believe they say she is 13. Her name day happens during the first episode of the second season, so she is 14 and I believe they repeat this age on her wedding night.Yeah I definitely prefer them a bit older. GRRM has said for quite awhile that he wished the kids had been older. He just started them all way to young. That would be the one thing he would change. He was actually going to have a 5 year gap between ASOS and ADWD to try and fix this, but it didn't work with all of the characters, so he nixed it.
The aging up thing has been great for everyone but Jon. Jon is suppose to be a young, honorable vulnerable boy in a world of men. It makes his stubbornness and naivete enduring. On the show he just looks to old to be as such.

So did I. That is why I am listening to the audio books again. Good way to pass the time while exercising. Though got to skip the sex scenes. Couldn't pay me enough to here Roy Dotrice describe the things GRRM has written.I really gotta read the books again. I've almost completely forgotten those finer details.

Lol I've heard it's very unpleasant.

I listened to the wedding night of Dany and Drogo. Never again.Lol I've heard it's very unpleasant.
Pffft... pansies.
*starts napping while listening to Dotrice's readings of GRRM's sex scenes*

Yeah for the show I guess Robb 17, Jon 16 or 17, Sansa 13, Arya 11, Bran 10, Rickon 6 or 7 makes sense.I figure Robb is maybe a year or two older than Jon. Theon seems like the youngest of the three or about Jon's age.

13, wow. I guess we should be used to all this since 30 yr olds were playing high schoolers in Beverly Hills 90210.I thought they stated in season 1 that Dany was 13 as well
t:I've never tried an audiobook but Id quite like to have one playing while I'm doing something like posting on here. Might have to try that.So did I. He didn't intend a gap when he started writing. He came up with the potential gap to fix his initial mistake of making them so young in the first place. That makes sense then on why he had them at such young ages if he intended to have a big gap between the books. I think I really just treat them as the age the actor looks if they tell me someone is an age that doesn't look right.
Yeah, it can really pass the time while you are surfing the net.I've never tried an audiobook but Id quite like to have one playing while I'm doing something like posting on here. Might have to try that.
Just found this (although it doesn't mention Theon):i thought in the books Theon was a few years older than Robb
First season
These differences can be found between the first season of TV series and the first book "A Game of Thrones" of the Song of Ice and Fire.
Timeline, Events of the TV series are seventeen years after Robert's Rebellion instead of fourteen years as in the books. The main reason in adding the two years was to allows the younger characters to be aged-up, while not affecting the timeline too much beyond the immediate past.
The Stark Children Robb and Jon are 17 instead of 15. Bran is 10 instead of 7 and Rickon's age is increased from 3 to 6. Sansa 13 instead of 11 and Arya is 11 instead of 9.
The Royal children are older: Joffrey is 16 instead of 13, Myrcella is 12 instead of 8 and Tommen is 10 instead of 6. Daenerys is 16 instead of 13.
Oh. I thought you were saying the reason he made them young was because the gap would age them to decent levels and once the gap was no longer possible, he was stuck with the wrong ages. Still don't know if I'm understanding correctly but it seems a strange mistake then as he must have genuinely wanted them all to be the ages they were in the early books at the time of writing. He didn't intend a gap when he started writing. Back in the day, before he was rich and famous GRRM had these things called deadlines.Oh. Don't know if this has been posted yet, didn't look like it, but a new teaser posted on HBO's instagram:
