HBO's Game of Thrones - - Part 11

Gotta say, I'm a little surprised at how they're setting it up. I'm not even at book two, yet, so not sure how it all plays out after The Red Wedding.

But, I am a little surprised by the (pretty ****ing cool looking, too) Stark and Lannister sigil used. And even the trailer, titled "Vengeance". I mean, by the end of last season...the Starks were ****ing done for. It wound up seeming like the Starks were almost like House Reyne. Not in the sense that they're not present, because we've still got Starks in the story. But I guess I was almost expecting to see other sigils the treatment we just saw in the trailer. I would have expected the Baratheon sigil instead, for example.

And you know, I think I'm curious to see how jarring it could be to see Daario's new actor onscreen. I feel like The Mountain being recast, while not ideal, is workable because I think most viewers won't remember what he looked like exactly...aside from being this big ****ing dude.

But, Daario kinda stood out last season. He had a distinct look to him. I'm wondering if most people will watch through this season and ask where'd the blonde with the big jaw go.

Why did they add The Red Woman to her prayer I wonder.

I guess because last season she took Gendry. And it makes sense for the tv series for her to add Mel's name

In the book this never happens of course. i welcome this change though.

Where is the guy with the big jaw? I didn't see him in the trailer :o

The jolly old fellow at the end looks like the Beast's grandfather.

I think that the Daario re-casting will go over just fine because it's happened before in a ton of other projects and people aren't like OMG a new actor? When Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle, two men who look drastically different from each other, there wasn't an uproar if I remember. People seem to want this to be a bigger deal than it is.

Iron Man has about 5 characters so it's a bit different. I don't think the problem is people getting angry about it. I think it will confuse people who are light watchers of the show. I knew every character by their face after 1st viewing but if their name was only mentioned fleetingly I wouldn't have known/remembered their names amongst the other hundreds of characters. For eg even Roose Bolton, the other assassins that Daario killed, Greatjon Umber...these kind of people I only remembered by face, and there are many more like them. If you replace the actor some will think it's a new or different character unless it's made obvious (as it hopefully will be).

I hate Cheadle as Rhodey. Terrence Howard was so much better

I like them both about the same.

Btw has Mance Rayder got a **** haircut?

Because what she did to Gendry, it would be out of character of Arya not to include her.

For that role Howard was better, Cheadle didn't have the looks of a military man as much as Howard.

I preferred Howard, personally.

I'm not angry about the recasting, really. I'm just curious to see at how it works out is all. Whereas, like I said before, I think recasting the Mountain will go smoothly because I think the key thing people will remember about him wasn't his face, but how he ****ing cut off a live horse head in season one.

I'm just curious to see if they maybe try something to convey to people that Daario is played by someone else. Maybe Jorah or Dany mentions he got a haircut or grew a beard or something. I can admit that sometimes, with the volume of characters we see with names and whole backstories, facial recognition is easier than remembering all their names. If anything, I'm having an easier time remembering everyone's name since I've started reading the first book and hanging out on this thread. And the last guy that played Daario...I don't know, he looked very punchable. He had that smug look on his face, with the long blonde hair. I think he stood out.

But, I'm not angry. Just interested and curious in seeing how it's handled. For all I know the new dude will be great. Probably will be. I just wonder if they'll try and go out of their way to make it clear he's the same guy for the "general audience".

So no early release by Best Buy for the Blu ray right?

Im not in town tomorrow and was hoping to see if I can grab it before I was out

If by better you mean whinier, then sure. Both on screen and off.

He was annoyed, for having to wait hours for Tony, that and many other instances. It was obviously a side he would only let a friend like Tony Stark see.

Where did you see Mance?
Not in the trailer if that's what you're asking. I've been rewatching the seasons and random parts on youtube and got a sudden close up of Mance & his **** haircut. How is his hair described in the books?

No, it was longer in the books. The giant wasn't quite what I pictured, either.

I think longer would suit him. It looks a bit too stylised (shaved underneath) for someone out in the wild. Just seen some images of where it's a bit more unkempt and wild and it doesn't look too bad there, just when it's all in place.

I liked the look of the giant though & they often look crap in other media.

This is a picture done by some artista about the character in the book

I allways imagines him as more of a bard, in the show he looks like a dustman

Mance is nothing like Mance, in terms of character or look. He has been very disappointing so far, as he is such a rich and interesting character in the book.

Indeed! He's quite dangerous, which is why I question one of Jon's decisions in ADWD.

Funny, not that long ago i was complaining about the way he looked and a poster quickly shut me down

That's Mance? Wow.

I converted 3 people into Game of Thrones fanatics in the last 2 days. As in people who didn't really ever consider watching it to having already watched half of season 1 and ordered all 3 seasons. I need to be there when they get to S1 E9 & S3 E9.
